  1. Yeah we do! Thu 26 Dec, 2002 Motherwell1 - 0 Rangers Being pedantic of course
  2. I am a big Sutton fan but I disagree with your point. He needs to do more when he does get the ball...countless times on Saturday and the games before he has made the wrong choice to knock it down or hold it up, misplaced a pass or just missed it. He hasnt been getting the ball from others to score but he needs to help himself and others by bringing them into the game.
  3. I do agree - can't see it happening though
  4. Can someone name, shame and get them a football banning order?. Thanks I advance.
  5. I was but a baby in 1982 so all I know is him, and his son, were acting like absolute nuggets on Saturday. I would rather that type of person didnt come to the games if I am just honest.
  6. I think there is an element of truth in there but a lot of opinion based on, like you say, looking from the outside in. For the sake of debate, only: "L.D. left for a reason -she knew that financial hardships were about to unfold and moved with a high reputation intact." - The financial hardships about to unfold. What are these? What is any different from last season? She left a team that just made an extra £250k we didn't expect to, we have sold Anier for approx £300k and we should have been making some money from Europa too. I think she left because she is ambitious and hibs can offer more on that front due to bigger attendances and therefore budgets. I think she also left as her biggest legacy, the well society, looks like it is doomed for failure. "being offered the G.M. position seemed a panicked reaction" - Opinion here. Mines is it was a thought out decision that, probably, saved money, kept a level of consistency, eased handover etc. Remember it wasnt a Leeanne out and Alan in. The job role changed. the board, of experienced business men, should be stepping up to replace the chief exec element. " there is no one of note capable of steadying the ship." - You make a statement of fact here. Not one of us can be sure as we dont know how things operate day in day out. .This isnt the job of a general manager. but it is the job of a chief exec, yes. Given we dont have one we need to be looking at the board as a whole to be sitting down and discussing the best way forward. "Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about team selections, unbalanced formations etc and the need to get back to basics and get in their faces. The fitness is so bad, there's no more gears left in this team. The spine of the team have plenty of experience, but the truth is, they've all lost a further yard in pace and are pedestrian at best. Couple this in with wide players not tracking back and we are exposed and over run, time after time in most games. We are unfit, unbalanced, lazy and I don't believe this team are capable of winning a dog fight if/when the time comes." Agree with that.
  7. As much as we were shit on Saturday I did see signs of things in the first half - and that was not apparent in the previous games. We should go: Twardzik Reid O'Brien McManus "Someone" Carswell Lasley Ainsworth Ojamma Vigurs Erwin Assuming McManus and Erwin are only knocks and will clear up. Who plays LB for the U20's? I am guessing its not Ferguson as he is right footed? Some thoughts: Leitch - hasn't done enough this season to deserve getting in there in front of Las or Carsy. He is too slow to play any further up the field and yesterday was poor I thought. Sutton - Needs to give us more than just effort. Yes, he has looked isolated but the chances he does get to hold it up, knock it on he has failed miserably. We need smarter play from him. Erwin- Has shown he will give us some decent hold up plat and smart footwork. Law - For me hasnt done much to be dropped but Ojamma is more of a direct threat and that leaves a direct choice between Vigs and Law for me. Leaves us with the options of Sutton, Law, Thomas as attacking subs if required.
  8. Yeah, I would partly agree with that. I dont think he is a world beater but definitely has something to offer in the right position. Not a lot of players filled the shirt yesterday.
  9. Law has ability - if you cant see that then you arent watching or you are already so closed off to it that you never will. He has good close control, a good engine, eye for a goal and a creative spark. His best positon I agree has been in support of the striker. He is not a winger, is not a defensive midfielder and wont marshall a game by the looks of it but, for me, thats ok as what he does he does well. Needs to be in the correct position though. Its much like Vigurs. He is one of our best footballers but people either see it or dont. Some people voted him MOTM yesterday but at the same time people in the crowd were calling him an imposter too. If we set up 4-2-3-1, Ainsworth/Law/Vigurs the 3, it would work really well I think. But in a 4-4-2 I dont think having Law ans Vigurs can work - a bit too similar.
  10. I think there is a lack of confidence and fitness in the team and that has be addressed. But other than that I dont think there is too much wrong. We didnt have a high turn over of players this year, did the majority of our transfer business early and papped our europe early with little public friendlies. That, I think is being misinterpreted as the club being in a malaise, being quiet etc. When I seen us v Stjarnan I said it would take us 4/5 games to get going, add into that injuries and unsettled team and I could sre it being a couple more before we get some points The only changes I would make are Law for Leitch and Erwin for Sutton. There is definitely reason for concern but I am not too worried as yet.
  11. So he is well known then? First I have heard him and his offspring. It was incredible at times...the boy was literally sarcastically clapping the rest of the motherwell fans (I think) at one point and mumbling away to himself. I dont even think they were drunk!
  12. Pish poor performance. Dan kept it to 2 but also at fault for the 2 goals I thought. First one he should have got to. He basically was too small. The second, the wall was set up all wrong. Everybody could see the gap and he didnt cover it. Promising first half from henrik, nice touches from Vigs and Law on occasion. Everybody else I though was average to poor The worst thing of the full daybwas sitting a couple of rows behind a father and son combo of absolute loon balls who never stopped shouting absolute negative drivel throughout. The father was going off is nut about the flag thing for about 5 minutes! Cretins.
  13. With Ferguson and Erwin out now toowe are probably looking at something like... Twardzik Reid - Kerr - McManus - O'Brien? Ainsworth/Law - Lasley - Carswell - Vigurs Ojamma - Sutton I am making the assumption he will start O'Brien and shift one of the other defenders to left back there as I cant see any other way around it unless we have a left back in the young team. To be honest, I dont think that team looks *too* bad. Once we have Hammy, Ramsden, ZFA, Erwin and Moore back we have a decent squad there. Add in the likes of McHugh, Lawson, Cummins, Thomas, Cadden, Leitch and things arent too bad.
  14. Probably not. Just thinking - does McCall attend the U20 games? Or does he rely on the feedback of Kenny Black and Jonathon Johannssen?
  15. Aye, that did cross my mind too but he is still on the official first team squad page and that has been updated with the new photos (his excluded but it hasn't been removed). He seems way out the picture given the new number he was given and the fact Kerr and the new boy will be in front of him. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes but he is still here by the looks of it.
  16. What do youmean? Cummins is still here. Not, it woul seem in favour, but still here.
  17. I agree we need to blood youngsters but at the same time dont right off the solid pro's we have at the club and how important it is to have a mix of youth and exerience. Lasley, yeah, he is 34 so I can the benefit in giving the likes of Carswell and Leitch serious game time over him as he will likely bow out at the end of his contract in 2016/2017. But, Sutton is 30, McManus 31 and Hammy 32 - they will all have plenty to give for the next couple of years at least at the top of their game.
  18. They just shifted the debt from thr bank yo the business folk. They still owe it to the group of business people. That said, given their recent player sales I would imagine its fully paid off now.
  19. I share that slight concern too. But, ultimately, it's a good thing to have more bodies in those positions as all players (especially young) will dip in form.
  20. I think it was a joke from the original poster
  21. Aye, he was. I don't think he said the deal was dead but it did say it was previously about to be tied up then he picked up an injury.
