  1. Ellis Plummer - their number 5 on Saturday. He showed a few good touches I thought at the time. Wasn't aware until afterwards he was a Man City youth.
  2. I guess all I mean is lets not be too hasty in saying we are dropping Sutton straight away, a proven scorer with his limitations obviously, for a couple of unproven, but promising youngsters :-) If we could rotate them all to our benefit then ideal. If Erwin and our loanee are shit hot then fire on!!
  3. Aye, couldnt agree more. Also, let's not make this loan signing the new saviour either...before we even know who we have actually signed for sure.
  4. Aye, it would certainly be a very nice position to be in that we had 3 first choice strikers that we could rotate. They will all go off form/tire etc so would be nice to have an option.
  5. I am usually one of the more positive ones on here but I think we will struggle midweek. Would love a draw but can see us getting beaten. If Vigurs shakes off the wee knock he apparently also has, then I'd go: 4-1-4-1 Twardzik Reid--Kerr--Mick--Angol Lasley Ainsworth--Carswell-Law-Vigurs Erwin/Sutton
  6. Exactly ...another 37 shitey wins would do me!
  7. It was far from 'abysmal'. You have a long season ahead of you it you think that is abysmal mate!! We were far from good and got that by the skin of our teeth but decent 3 points given the injuries we had and good performance by big Lee Erwin.
  8. His contract didnt get renewed and he was just training with us. Played friendly due to lack of bodies available what with injuries and u20 league starting only a couple days later.
  9. Reid posted a photo of his shirt with name/number on it saying he was buzzing for the game, on Instagram. So, looks like he may be good to go and play!
  10. The full press conferences from from McCall and Law are on YouTube for those inclined. *As mentioned before, no decision on Barr but will speak to him this afternoon. *Looking at 2 loans from England - a defender and a striker. *He did say, of the back 4 (whether than means the 4 who played against Stjarnan or not isn't clear), 2 are 100% out and 2 will get a late fitness test tomorrow. Due to the disruption he won't name the team until 1.45pm tomorrow.
  11. Handbags, gents, yer tights are showing.
  12. Courtesy of The Sun today...quotes from Kenny Black basically saying: They will make a decison on wether we sign Darren Barr before we kick off on Saturday. Went on to say he is an experienced player. Loan deal for Mark O'Brien now very unlikely due to him being injured and they haven't even had the chance to see him play yet.
  13. I really really dont think so - my opinion. I would say he was effective in about 10 games last season. Law will be at least as effective.
  14. I don't think anyone was saying he will be better than Faddy in his prime but I would bet my house on him being better and more influential (i.e build up play, goals and assists) than Faddy was last season. Sadly.
  15. Good to know al our injured players will be back and Vigurs dosnt give a fuck about his suspension
  16. Oh aye..I did read that actually. Ta. Hard one to call without knowing the details and not knowing much about the youngsters. I'll assume McManus is back but none of the rest mentioned as injured/suspended are. Something like: Twardzik Carswell Cummins McManus Ferguson(?)/Neil(?) Ainsworth Lasley Law Thomas Sutton Erwin If we have a decent youth right back then I'd put him in in place of Carswell. Leitch is unfortunate to miss out but I think we need to go with 2 up front and let Law roam about a bit behind them No idea about the score. I dont think we will get humped but it will likely be close and only a goal in in.
  17. When did Vigurs get ruled out? I heard McCall talk about all the defenders but nowt else.
  18. I like Darren Barr. There I said it.
  19. Going by the other players it would likely be a defender
  20. Yep, 100% agree. Seems like McCall wants a defender though and from Black's comments we have been sounding out possible loans. I would be very very disappointed if we got another central defender in and not another striker.
  21. Unless you are Robertson's Mum/Dad, mate who has access to his bank statements then there is no way we can know what he was on or is on...pure speculation!
  22. Yeah, absolutely correct - which is my major bug bear rather than lack of friendlies actually. I guess in summary what I have been saying is - if we had put the proper and intensive fitness work in earlier we could quite easily have committed to pre arranged friendlies between the euro games we assumed we were getting (i.e. 2 rounds worth at least) because we would be fit enough to cope with all the games and it would be beneficial. I agree that would have been the best plan. But, because we didnt have that base fitness level (evidenced in the Fulham and 1st leg), and that was maybe the plan to use the 4 competitive games in europe to get it, it would have been foolhardy to chuck in extra friendlies as well and could well have been detrimental. End of the day, it's all opinions and the likes of Kenny Black and Stuart McCall will have different opinions on how to get teams fit compared to, say Derek McInnes and Tommy Wright. Just like you and I. Either way, I dont think we have got it quite right as we seemed to come back a couple of weeks late (for me) on the gamble we were going to progress through europe and get match fit along the way rather than be match fit for the 1st leg.
  23. I have no doubt they could cope with it but would it be the best idea to get the correct level of fitness, maintain it and not be susceptible to injuries or tiring earlier in the season? In my opinion which is baser on some experience in this field, no. If, and I pointed to it previously, we were back earlier and had a good solid base of fitness to work from then we probably could have played 2 games a week during thr euro ties but from the levels of fitness seen against Fulham and then Stjarnan it would most likely have a detrimental effect in the short and mid term to do that. Also, players will always want to play games - its easier than grafting on a training pitch doing fitness drills. Games are needed but its all about getting the right balance and overloading on games at the expense of training aint the way to do it.
  24. The 'young ones' will be playing on Tuesday when their season starts against Accies so that wouldnt have worked? This season you can also play 5 overage players in the newly named 'development league' so that will be another opportunity for game time.
  25. A sensible voice amongst the posts of morons
