  1. ATS was definitely injured. Hartley came over and told the manager he had a problem then ATS signalled he was done before he got subbed.
  2. Glad to see Dunne back. Tait has been at the root cause of some of our goals recently so I'm not surprised really (and I. a big fan). Glad to see Turnbull...time for him to grasp his chance.
  3. Some very nice goals today. Broque Watson always seems to be involved. Could be a good find.
  4. This does not fit the current narrative. Please reconsider.
  5. The loan player v perm youth player has, and always will be an argument. For me, whether that perm youth players is someone who we signed at 20 or 21, or who has been with us since they were 12....makes no difference. But, there's a balance to be had I think with the reserve team. Majority should be our own youth but I'm ok with a couple of first team players playing to either get fitness/try and get them firing/keep ticking over. Also...maybe this thread should be called 'Reserves' now to reflect the change?
  6. Indeed. He said pretty much the exact opposite a year ago... https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/15554310.psycho-sees-same-pride-and-fight-in-stephen-robinsons-motherwell-that-carried-91-legends-to-glory/
  7. Correct. If we're starting to point fingers you could have a field day.
  8. Given Turnbull got half an hour a couple of weeks in a row it's clear he's in the managers thoughts. I doubt he'll get a start mind you. Are all our hopes pinned on Turnbull? Or is Dunne? Can't keep track. Or is it Luke Watt? I'm not entirely confident or a fan of the current system (see my other posts) but I let's not pin it all on young Turnbull. As for our record at home - depends the way you cut the stats : Last 6 home premiership games - W2, D1, L3 (not great, not a 6 game winless streak you'd think given some of the narrative) or our last 6 home games overall say -W3, D1, L2 (looks no bad that way)
  9. Aye, don't mind the suggestion of 5 in the middle at all. But only if we can ensure the man up top doesn't get isolated. Just feel the lads we have to play up front play better as part of a two
  10. Taking the emotion out of it, for now. There's a lot wrong with both tactics and individual performance. Tactics: Without going over old ground we are so one dimensional and other teams know both our Plan A and Plan B. Our 'physicality' of last season is now matched by most teams. Players: Players are making individual errors, which we are getting punished for, and in general our midfield is not giving our, admittedly unsettled and poor, defence the cover needed. We don't appear to have the quality in creative players or up front to make or put away the crucial chances we tended to put away with Moult in the team. Solution: Hard one. I'd start with a change of formation to 4 at the back. We've lost a lot of goals with our wing backs pushing forward and we don't have the pace for a back 3. Midfield we are weak so I'm not sure where to start to be honest but I'd be playing a simple 4 with players in the their correct positions. Up top its 2 of Main, Bowman and Johnson. We have a big lack of options on the left. Maybe... Carson Tait Hartley Aldred ATS Cadden Campbell McHugh Frear Bowman Main The manager is starting to have a shoogly peg for me, and I'm a fan...crucial game against Livi.
  11. Not that I'm a huge huge fan of the starting 11...but ATS left wing back, Tait right wing back where he should be and Cadden who will drift forward and right too. Two up top...seems as wide as we'll get.
  12. Yep spot on. The optimist in me hopes for no defensive mistakes for the first 45 and something slightly different tactically....the realist in me thinks another turgid game...
  13. Although it was dross on Sunday I'm not actually that fearful for Wednesday. If we can keep it tight for the first half were in with a chance....not sure Hearts offered much apart from our gift when we last played them.
  14. So if we win 2 out the next 3 he's out the door then.... I'd hope to pick up points against the next 3 too but by no means easy fixtures.
  15. ...I do tend to agree on this though. Our rigid 3-5-2 direct tactic is no longer a surprise to anyone. We also can't outmuscle everyone like we did fairly well last season as the like of Hearts, Livi and Aberdeen to an extent have all beefed up a bit in size/strength and everyone is wise to our play. So, 4-4-2 or a variant thereof seems like decent option for me. Tait bring the best out of Cadden when together on the right and Frear, for all his criticism, is best as an out and out left midfielder (not a wing back, not sitting behind strikers etc.). I'd be tempted to give this a try...with left back being the only problem position that I'm not really comfortable with. Carson Tait Hartley Aldred ATS Cadden Campbell Bigi Frear Johnson Bowman
  16. No problem on the drug/alcohol front as far as I'm aware
  17. Dreadful game that yesterday to watch. Early goal conceded was a major probkem and we just didn't have the attacking guile to even look like troubling them. Plenty of possession but turned out very like the Hearts game in that we just couldn't get round them and resorted to long ball which was mopped up. I wasnt even that overly concerned with them scoring again but we just never looked like troubling them. The management team need to have a good think and come up with something a bit different as teams know fine well how to play us. Overall, I'm not panicking but a slight bit of concern is starting to fleet across the mind. When I saw the fixture list come out I feared it a little bit given the teams we had to face in the first handful of games. Expected losses against Hibs, Hearts, Rangers and Aberdeen but wins against Accies and Dundee. So, we're a couple behind plan for me at the moment. Next 3 games we need to be picking up points which won't be easy but should a better ask given the more comparable squads.
  18. Every manager we've had since I started going (McLeish appointment) at some point reacted to the mind numbing stupidity of the tactical analysis of the main stand. Didn't hear it, and I was only a handful seats along, but I'd be willing to bet good money it was the usual spouting of shite.
  19. Same. Must be the beard. He must have been in that u21 team since he was about 10 to get that many caps.
  20. Not Scotland, but Bigi started for Burundi yesterday in their draw with Gabon as part of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
  21. Same. Just thought we'd be shouting about it. However, looking back on the Marvin Johnson initial statement we didn't either. Be smashing if we did
