Higdon for me. Brilliant today. Everything up to him stuck, good lay offs and passes and he lead the line brilliantly. Another goal as well, anybody who still doubts him is a fucking moron. However credit to Ojamaa who makes Higdon a better player as we saw last season with his intelligent running and support. A great shift from Henrik and was unlucky not to get a goal. Also Hateley who took a lot of stick last week was good in midfield and had two excellent corners for the 2nd and 3rd goals.

Well now the crushing disappointment of being a Scotland fan is over for another month we're back to the real stuff on Saturday. We've already discussed the Colin Nish factor on another thread but quite frankly Dundee have looked out their depth so far in the SPL. A somewhat fortunate win against Hearts doesn't disguise that for me, not to say that can't beat us and certainly cause us problems but if we play anywhere near our best we should be looking for three points. At least this thread won't be full of the they're bound to beat us guff, we always lose to teams in need etc. Same team as last time or do you drop Bob McHugh for Ojamaa/Murphy? Fraser Kerr must keep his place at right back for me and I can't see McCall dropping Hateley so he'll be in midfield again. Also can't see McCall dropping Law or Humphrey so there's only room for one of McHugh, Murphy or Ojamaa. Dundee 0 - 3 Motherwell Can see us hopefully having too much for them.

By my rough estimates Colin Nish has scored 6 goals against Motherwell in 26 games, hardly prolific is it. In fact take out his hat-trick in th 6-6 game and he's got 3 goals in 25 appearances against Motherwell. 'Always' scores indeed. And yes I know I'll now get "you've jinxed it now, he'll definitely score now" from those stupid enough to believe in such things. One positive is that Dundee picked up their first win last week which means we avoided a week of "Stick on Dundee win, we always give these teams a victory" which incidentally is also a complete myth.

I'm not sure about his all round game but 19 goals in 87 SPL games from midfield is good by anyone's standards, add in the fact he played in a team like St.Mirren playing the way they did under MacPherson only adds to this. His record of SPL goals is superior to that of Ryan Stevenson who some on here were wanking themselves silly over the prospect of signing(Stevenson also played for a superior team in a more advanced position). From what I remember of Dorman he had the knack of ghosting past players and getting into the right areas in and round the box and he could certainly finish. Anyway just something I've heard, might not be true but he's certainly somebody worth looking at and it would make sense as he's not too dissimilar to Stevenson who we were keen to sign.
-
I've heard Andy Dorman's name mentioned. Recently released and a number of SPL teams are looking at him. He must be close to 30 now right enough, then again his goals record from midfield for a shit St.Mirren team(aren't they all?) in the SPL was pretty dam good.
-
You don't think the club has thought of that? Unless we start throwing money at him he won't be signing a new contract, we've been lucky enough to have him for as long as we have.

Sorry, what?

I agree about Broadfoot but Sheridan? Really? He scored 5 goals in 32 games for St.Johnstone last season. He went through a hot streak where he scored 4 goals in 3 games and lived off that for the rest of the season. In other words he scored 1 goal in the last 20 games of last season. He's still looked fairly pish whenever I've seen him and even if we could sign him I'd stay well clear. No better than anything we have in my opinion.
-
Nonsense. He's hardly been the injury prone cripple you're painting him as. Last season was the boys first real serious injury. The previous two seasons he made 32 & 36 appearances respectively. Last season was a bit of a shitter for the boy especially to miss nearly a whole year but he came back at the end of last season. He's then had this second injury on his knee which will keep him out till Christmas. Unfortunate yes but it's hardly time to put the boy down. Shaun Hutchinson also went nearly 13 months without first team football did he not? Doesn't seem to have affected him too badly.
-
You're mental. The boy spent several months in China earning 30k a week before he was punted(with a nice settlement no doubt). Add that to the money he's already made in his career and he's set for life. He has no need to earn money and at 29 with no chance of salvaging his career he would have no motivation. Just look at his performance at St Johnstone in the 5-1 game at Fir Park last season. Yes the talent is still there but he just strolled around the pitch like it was a kick about with his mates. Then Saints got rid of him and replaced him with Gregory Tade, that says it all really. He should be a Premiership player & a regular Scotland international, instead at 29 he's scrambling about again looking for an SPL club to take a punt on him. He's had enough chances to change in the past and hasn't take them, his career is all but over and he's minted. So why would he change now? As I've always said on talent alone it's a no brainer but his talent comes attached to a jakey wee bawbag waster who will never change.

The amount of abuse Kirk Broadfoot gets is ridiculous. Aye he's no world beater but the guy has won every domestic trophy in Scotland, played in a major European final and has been capped by Scotland. He's got a far superior cv to say Tim Clancy and is probably a better player but if we did sign him he'd probably get more abuse on here than Clancy did. Anyway I can't see it unless we've agreed to sell Hutchinson so a) have the money and b) have the need for another defender. Anyway I've seen/heard/been informed we're after everyone from Broadfoot to Mark Kerr to Miiiiiiiiiiikey Stewart to Riordan & get this Darren fuckin Dodds. We need players= link us with any journeymen going. We will end up signing somebody none of us have heard of and it will be preferable to some of the shite we've been linked with.

Another angle, looking back actually Hutch could consider himself lucky not to see a straight red. Really poor tackle. How many games would he have missed then? Perhaps fortunate that he'll only miss one league game.
-
Sorry but that's a yellow everyday of the week. Straight leg, studs up, doesn't get near the ball and catches the boy right on the back of the achilles. The most annoying thing about it all is that it's a challenge he didn't have to make. The boy has his back to goal and is 22 yards out at the angle, baring a Thierry Henry-eque flick up and volley he's not posing any real threat. Unless Hutchinson is 100% certain he was going to get the ball(and especially in that weather I'm not sure how he could be) he can't afford to go to ground and dive in. Just stand your ground and force him away from goal. I know he has a huge fanbase on here but it was two stupid yellows and he can have no complaints and has no one to blame but himself. Hopefully he learns from this and he can move on.
-
As I thought earlier, a stupid tackle by Hutchinson that he didn't have to make.
-
Nonsense. I guess all those blocks, interceptions and tackles that Kerr and Cummins made were in my imagination? The saves Randolph made? He had good game up until his red but certainly no better than Cummins and especially Kerr who made several great covering tackles to keep us ahead. And none of the them were naive enough to get themselves sent off and leave a big gaping hole in our defence at the end.
-
I was thinking the same and sadly it's always the same. We weren't great but we cleary tired in the 2nd when Saints really took control. However Motherwell teams of old that I can think off would have folded so kudos to the lads for running themselves into the ground. Plenty of last ditch defending, hacked clearances, lazy in possesion etc. Yet for all that we were 30 seconds away and a questionable decision away from taking all three points. It was a real backs to the wall job and I thought the defence was very good. Very few clear cut chances and some great defending. Felt especially sorry for young Kerr & Cummins at the end as I felt they were outstanding and deserved to keep a clean sheet. Some great tackles by Cummins and the amount of covering tackles at that Kerr made was exceptional. Also thought Higdon put in a good shift, took his goal well and made a number of important clearances himself. The ref was a fucking joke but what a stupid red card for Hutchinson to pick up, needless as he was immense as well up to that point. With a small squad with a lot of youth and our third game in 8 days we were always going to struggle. It was gritty, workman like display and although Saints fully merited their point it was still hard to take having fought for so long to keep them out. Surprised(well I'm not) by some of the reactions on here but you get used to it. No danger we'll struggle this season, top six comfortably and you can bookmark that. Unlucky lads, on to the next one.
-
Go on yourself wee man, hope he grabs his first of the season today.

Give McHugh a proper run out, if anyone of the fringe players deserves a proper chance it's him. Get Nicky Law away from doing the donkey work in the middle of the park and get him back into a more attacking postions in the final third where he can be more effective. Get the ball down and play it, melting the ball at Higdon's face for 90 minutes gets the best out of nobody including him. Do these things(especially 2 & 3) and I'm confident we can get three points.
-
Like Nicky Law? Who instead of playing further forward where he's most effective was playing like a holding midfielder last night. I've said it before, I'd get Law out of centre mid and back to a more advanced position. He's the most creative player we have and we're wasting him where he is in my opinion. Oh and our best chance from last night came from Ojamaa making a good run in behind the Levante defence after he was spotted and slid through by...Nicky Law. Only and excellent last ditch tackle prevented what looked like a certain equalizer.
-
People saying we didn't perform, sadly we performed as well as Levante lets us. They were a clear cut above us, they barely got out of second gear and coasted through. If they wanted to up it they could have in my opnion, sadly they're just a class above us. Our lads gave their all but just weren't good enough, no shame in that. Now I'm away before the bitching starts.

Somebody asked the ever reliable Scott Burns on twitter about Faddy and he said Anyway the bit in bold seems more important. Let's hope it's someone coming in rather than going out..
