Thought Hutch was immense at the back, as was Clancy. Hutchinson edged it for me because of that one suicidal pass Clancy hit in the first half.
-
I'd agree with that, his attitude and workrate is spot on as well. What I think typifies his attitude was on Saturday in about the 80 something minute at 6-0 up he tracked back to the edge of his own box to win the ball back in the corner, then the ball's punted up the pitch and 30 seconds later he was up the other end of the pitch wining the ball back on the edge of their area. Just brilliant to watch his enthusiasm and willingness to work for the team, never gives up and no such thing as a lost cause. With his natural ability and his attitude it's not hard to see why folk are getting carried away, he's young and by no means the finished product but the boy has the potential to be a cracking player. Great find by McCall and well done the club on securing him to a longer deal.

Great team performance, everyone played exceptionally well. I love Ojamaa more with each passing week. That is all.
-
If he ends the season in double figures I'll be happy.

Goodwillie hasn't peaked, he's scored 3 goals in his last 4 games for Blackburn. If anything he's finding his feet and getting better.
-
Well thats your opinion, mine is that Goodwillie is a better player than Murphy. We might have knocked United out of the cups but Goodwillie still notched three goals against us last season(including his sublime overhead kick) for a team that finished comfortably above us in the league. He also racked up 19 goals, won caps for his country and won himself a multi million pound move to the Premiership to continue his development. Murphy is a talented boy no doubt but I worry about the mental and physical side of his game. I like Murphy and he's got potential but if you offered me a straight swap Goodwillie for Murphy right now, I'd take it as I feel Goodwillie is the better player at this moment in time.
-
Never said he was but your going on the assumption that it was 250k we accepted for Murphy when I believe it was probably closer to 500k. Why did United get 4 times that then for Goodwillie. Well for one Goodwillie signed a contract extension towards the end of last season that meant he had two years left on his contract, this putting United in a stronger bargaining position where they didn't have to accept Ranger's derisory offers and could hold out for the right deal. Murphy only has 18 months left in his deal and I imagine the club are worried of he has a shite second half of the season or if he picks up an injury then they might not get a better offer than 500k in the summer when he only has 12 months left on his contract. That combined with the fact I think Goodwillie had a better season and looked a better player than Murphy last season is where he difference in fee's is coming from.

Just me that thinks Dundee United maybe got more money for Goodwillie because he's a better player than Murphy at this point in time??

Higdon in for Daley would be my only change, thought Daley did a reasonable job last week but I thought the Higdon/Ojamaa partnership looked very promising and would like to see it again. Hopefully we can continue our good home form of the last two games and score a good few goals. Motherwell 3- 0 Morton

I'd like to think if we did lose someone McCall wouldn't be so naive as to not have a back up plan. A few irons in the fire so to speak inacse someone does leave. Though the later we leave selling someone the harder it will be to squeeze someone else in before the window shuts. Anyway it's all speculation from the trusty record. Which means it's probably complete shite.

Another vote for Keith from me. Brilliant today, was everywhere. Two brilliant tackles in the lead up to the first goal which was a a running theme for him throughout the match. Constantly chasing, getting a toe in and making things difficult for the opposition and his goal rounded off a great performance. Okay it may have taken a massive deflection but it was Lasley who won the ball back at the edge of his own box, played it put wide, got it back just inside his own half and carried it 30 yards before having a go(something I wished we tried more often) and getting his reward. Great display. Thought most of the team were very good, special mention to Randolph and obviosuly Ojamaa. However thought Hammell was very ropey today and gave the ball away for both goals. Also thought Murphy was quiet and not suited to whatever job he was doing in the 2nd half. Overall all though great performance and a cracking game.

Mmmmmm....... I'm guessing Chris has told 'Dazzer' that he's not playing tomorrow & that Daley will be starting instead & Dazza ain't happy. Just one question though, how does Dazzer know Chris Humphrey??
-
For this game I disagree but that's what makes a fourm I suppose.

I don't think Murphy will start up front. If we're going to play the same way as we did on Tuesday with Ojamaa playing off another striker you need someone to replicate the role(and presence) of Higdon. Murphy's too lightweight and the ball simply won't stick if it's played up to him. He lacks aggression and any sort of physical presence. Also he's too similar to Ojamaa, how long do you give it until they both go wondering looking for the ball and leaving us with no one through the middle?? I think McHugh will start as he's the only other 'striker' we have apart from Higdon. He will also despite his height offer more of a physical presence than Murphy and will play a more disciplined central striker role. The balls more likely to stick and he's got the aggresion to get stuck in and rattle a few of the bigger Saints defenders.
-
I think it will be Craigan & Higdon out, Clancy & McHugh in. The same attitude and performance from the other night and I'd be confident of another home win.
-
It really is a shame Higdon is going to miss the Saints game on Saturday, he & Ojamaa looked to have a great understanding already. What a difference it made having someone closer to the bigman who was willing to get on to his knock downs and flick ons. Not only does he look a cracking player but he seems to be bringing the best out of Higdon. Did anyone notice that the 2nd and 3rd goal came from Higgy's flick ons? See what happens when people support him and get on the end of them! First Ojamma and then McHugh. He needs that sort of support more often and hopefully he continues to get it and we get a few more goals from it.
-
Wonderful team performance. Not a failure from those on the pitch. Great night.
-
I hope to fuck it doesn't, a one match ban for that is fucking ridiculous. C'mon big Higgy.
-
Just mentioned Higdon's 'gesture' on sportscene. Looks like a ban might be coming his way.
-
Aye just need to delete it from the BBC website and stop Sky from showing it every half hour and he might get away with it...
-
Randolph jumped into the crowd last week after one twat had a go at him. Higgy's had to put up with a number of helmets who have constantly given him senseless abuse for months. Was only matter of time before he reacted and it was another good performance today, okay he missed a few good chances but he didn't hide kept coming back for more and grabbed us the vital equaliser. Ten goals already, keep it up big man.

Didn't see it myself was too busy celebrating. Was this it or was there more??

Same team that finished today although I'm not sure about Murphy on the right. He had some nice touches but was innefective coming inside onto his left foot. Law was better when he was out on the left. Maybe bring in Humphrey up against McCann for either Law or Murphy? Ojamaa provided some direct running and looked a real handful, surely merits a start given how toothless we've been at home in recent times. Motherwell win please, any of sort of win will do.

Every move came from Daley failing to track back and Hateley had to cover two men. Every move came down that side for them and it was no suprise it stopped when Murphy went over. Sorry but I just don't agree with that. One corner today he put on the roof of the net. He stuck 3 or 4 right into the 6 yard box and another 4 or 5 last Saturday as well. His corners have been good recently, we just seem useless at attacking them.
