Debatable. 6 goals in 15 games, better than a goal every 3 games. I'd take that but that's not the full story though. It's actually 8 goals in 17 games which is just short of one in two. Higdon is doing a good job and is not part of the problem. Not really, of Hateley's five assists this season I'd say one was because of the "space" Humphrey made and that was the one at Tannadice. Why do you always bring Murphy into a debate about Humphrey?

Stop throwing your toys out the pram because your mate is coming in for a bit of criticism. 1 goal and 0 assists in about 17 games, not really good enough is it. I know, I know... he creates space etc. but he's still got to contribute himself and he hasn't done that for months.

Only 3 days till the game and no thread(or at least one I could find ) . I noticed Kenny Black was quoted as saying Will this help our team, will Hughes provide some creativity that we miss? Will we score? Will Murphy or Daley start? I'm hopeful cause Hibs are utter shit and hoping if we get the 1st goal they will crumble. At this rate I would take any sort of home win and a fucking goal! Quite looking forward to Friday night football...

I agree, it's hard to criticise the man with the job he's done though. Only jesting.

I'm saying he's not suited to the role he's being playing at home in the system we are playing and that's why he's been ineffective. I want him to be playing closer to Higdon up front, not drifting around the midfield looking for the ball. We have Law to carry the ball and link up between defence and attack, Murphy doesn't need to be dropping so deep to collect the ball and should be looking to pick up the ball in the final third were he can do more damage. Not popping up in areas of the pitch were he doesn't need to be and is completely ineffectual. The amount of times Hammell collects the ball and Law and Murphy take up the same posistion is infuriating. Of course I didn't mean he was dismissing McCall's orders and just playing where he wants, didn't think anyone would be that daft enough to think that's what I meant but there you go.

2 things most frustrating about our performances at Fir Park this season... 1.) Higdon being isolated and winning countless headers and flicking them on to no one. 2.) Murphy wondering around the pitch aimlessly and doing the square route of fuck all. The solution, play Murphy up front with Higdon!! Not left wing, right back, centre mid or wherever else he fancies popping up. Make sure he's on the shoulder of the last man every time the balls fired up to Higdon and use his pace to get in behind. Also get him picking up the ball in the final third were he can run at defenders and be a danger and not fannying about with the ball in his own half getting in other peoples way(Mostly Nicky Law's). He certainly needs to get his finger out, our most talented player maybe but nowhere near our most effective this season. Hopefully playing him up front can sort out our problems and his.

Shite conditions shite game. How Hutch missed that free header 6 yards out I'll never know. Jennings tackle near the end to save us was immense. Another poor home performance, Jennings and Higdon were the best performers for us imo. Gunning had a cracking game too for them I thought. Change of plan needed for next week. If Lasley and Hutch are out I expect Clancy and Hughes to come in.

Same team as last week, expose their woefully slow defence with our pace. Think they will try and shitfest the game like they did in the League Cup game at Fir Park last season so this will be a struggle. If their tactic is pumping it long to Daly as it was at Tannadice then we will cope fine. Set pieces are the main danger, can see us huffing and puffing for a while before Kenneth or Daly nicks it from a set piece. Though we do seem to have a strong mentality at the minute so hopefully we can grind out another win. Will stay positive but I think it will be a scrappy game won by the odd goal. Motherwell 1(Higdon) - 0 Dundee United Although a repeat of the cup game at Fir Park last season wouldn't be too bad...

No I wasn't on the phone, I was at the game and saw what happened. Disgraceful treatment today, even the Aberdeen fans are saying we done nothing wrong. One rule for the OF, one for the rest of us.

Shut the fuck up you tit. It's not a crime to support your team, brilliant from the Well fans today. Were on the receiving end of some horrific treatment from the Stewards and Police.

Just want to say well done to Higgy. Not at his best today like alot of the team but got another goal and worked his bollocks off. Won numerous crucial headers in our own box and took his goal well. Great to see him get a good reception when he came over at the end. Thoroughly deserved. 8 and counting, not bad for a fat lad who can't run, can't win a header and can't shoot. Well done big man.

Gritty, determined, dogged defensive display. Nobody was at the top of their game but the work rate was terrific. Everyone from Murphy and Higdon to Craggs and Hutch worked their arses off. I love big Omar, what a boy great finish. Another goal for Higgy, was his header powerful enough?? Great win and 9 points clear in 3rd and 17 clear of the Dons already. Cheer up Brown ya lying auld git! Great win.

I'd put money on Forbes, Carswell & Hughes all being on the bench Saturday.

Not sure about the rest but Faddy definitely got capped for Scotland whilst at Motherwell, a number of times if memory serves.

As in the shoutbox, according to Scott Burns on twitter Hughes is set to re-sign till January today. I personally think this will be a great piece of business. At home this season we've badly struggled to break teams down and having someone with Hughes ability to pick a pass will be a real bonus. We are the joint lowest scorers at home in the SPL with only 6 goals in 7 games and four of them came in the first two matches! Picking up a Scottish International with a decent pedigree on a free transfer on little wages should be very good for us. It gives a little more depth and adds a bit more quality to the squad. This is assuming it goes through and Burns isn't talking shite, however if he's correct I for one will be delighted to have Hughes on board for the next 3 months. Think he will do us a good turn.

Clancy & Humphrey out Hutch & Daley in. ------------------Randolph Hateley---Hutch----Craigan----Hammell -----------Jennings--------Lasley------- ------Murphy------Law-------Daley ------------------Higdon----------- This is how we finished the ICT game(apart from Jenno) and it was by far and away the most threatining we've looked in the last few games IMO. Hutch should slot into defence for the suspended Clancy without too much bother. I want to see Daley start a game, he made a difference when he came on against ICT and thought he looked quite good in his limited spell against Celtic. He's got a two year contract so might as well see what he can do from the start, he looks a bit stronger than Humphrey and the ball seems to stick to him more when it gets fired up to him. Bring the Humph on in the last half hour or so to stretch their tiring defence. Don't think Aberdeen are a very good team, big and phyisical but little creativity. However they will be a threat from set pieces as all of their goals against United in their last game came from dead balls. If we can defend them better than we did on Sunday then I feel we can win this. Motherwell win.

Seen that Clancy's been banned for 2 games. Hopefully Hutch can go that long without getting injured.
