  1. I agree, it's Clancy's position to throw away. He was superb against United and was good against Aberdeen. Hutch will have to try and force his way back in.
  2. Special mentions to Craigan, Jennings & Higdon who I thought were great. Lasley was immense again and another goal and another great game. However I have to give it to Clancy who I thought was a rock at the back and won everything. Great team display but Clancy edges it for me.
  3. We won and deservedly so. Far the better team, playing and pressing at pace and snuffed out their threat comfortably. The spine of the team was immense. Lasley brilliant again and Jennings back to his best. Controlled the game. Big Higdon won a lot up front and took both goals well and put in a shift. Craigan solid and speical mentions to Hateley and Law as well. However my MOTM was Clancy. Fantastic at the back, won everything and didn't give them a sniff. Well done sir, Hutch will have to fight to get his place back after that performance. Well done lads, cracking performance and a great 3 points.
  4. Had another great game today. 6 goals in 11 games, is that "competent" enough for you Steelboy??
  5. Big Higgy, he's playing no bad for a fat lad.
  6. 1.) He's not fat, accept it. It's a fallacy. 2.) Don't care about Gow or Gannon but nice swerve from the stats that prove how effective Higdon is. 3.) We're third in the table and have only lost 3 league games( two to the OF) and went out the cup on pens. Where exactly do you think we should be and where would we be if we had a so called "competent" striker??
  7. 10 games, 4 goals, 2 assists. Good enough for me. What's wrong with his fitness? Are you one of these people who think he's fat? He's slow not unfit, there's a difference. The only thing obvious is your lack of football knowledge. We are third in the SPL after our best start in who knows how long and Higdon has played a big part in that. Shut up and enjoy it and stop fucking moaning at our top goalscorer.
  8. I see goals in this game. People may worry about our defence but they have Gunning and Kenneth as a centre back pairing. Those two are an accident waiting to happen. Then again you could sat the same about the Craigan & Clancy partnership... I think playing away from home will suit us. When teams like Saints and Aberdeen come and defend we struggle to break them down. However United will come out and attack and leave much more space for the likes of Humphrey and Murphy to cause damage. They have lost Goodwillie and Conway but they will still pose a threat. Swanson and Russell are both very good players. -----------------------Randolph---------- Hateley-------Clancy----Craigan----Hammell Humphrey------Lasley-----Forbes-----Law-- ------------Higdon----------Murphy--------- I would only make one change. Would drop Jenno for Forbes as he was poor again yesterday. I wouldn't start McHugh for the reasons I gave in the McHugh thread. I would start Murphy up front WITH Higdon and not having Murphy about 20 yards away from him. I imagine McCall will go with the same team as usual which is essentially my team but with Jennings in. But please don't play Higdon up top on his own. It won't work. We've looked so much better in recent times when McHugh came on to play alongside Higdon. Play Murphy there up top through the middle and stop having him 30 yards back into his own half!!! If Murphy still fails to perform then hook him and give McHugh another run out. Think if we play well we can create chances and we were fairly succesful against them last season hopefully it continues. I will go for a 2-2 draw with Higdon at the double.
  9. It's a tricky one. I wanted him to get a chance, he has done in the last two games. He's had about 45 mins in the last two games and been impressive. Today's goal was very much like Skippy. His build and playing style is eerily similar as well. However it was his first SPL goal and he has got a long way to go to be in McDonald's calibre. He showed an agression to try and bully these defenders twice his size today that neither Higdon or Murphy showed. However I worry that fans start to expect too much. For example you just know if McCall starts him at Tannadice next week and he doesn't have the same impact he will be just as quickly written off by some as a one game wonder. Nobody expected much from him today and he put in a great performance. He started against Clyde and Killie and although he showed flashes he didn't have the same impact. However his first SPL goal will boost his confidence and maybe he will start showing his potential as there has always been a player there and start scoring goals for fun. Or maybe not... I don't know if I would start him against United and I wouldn't be suprised if McCall goes with Higdon and Murphy again. However this goal and performance might see McCalll more willing to use him from the bench and give him more starts this season. He's still young and it's a long season so there will still be plenty of chances for him. He's contracted until 2013 so he still has the best part of two years to establish himself. Hopefully he can bag somewhere between 5-10 goals this season and become a real option for us. He has the potential IMO but if you asked a Motherwell fan this time last week about McHugh before the Hibs and Dons game's I imagine the response would not have been as favourable as it is now. Let's just see how he goes. I personally always thought he looked a tidy wee player who just needs a run in the first team. Hopefully after today he gets a few more chances and continues to impress.
  10. Believe I was the first one on the Hibs thread suggesting McHugh should get his chance... Anyway well done wee man. The aggresion and tenacity he showed when he came on was tremendous. Bullying guys twice his size out the way and chasing lost causes. As some have said he reminds me of Scott McDonald in the way he plays. A goal skippy would have been proud of today. Great determination and a great tackle before showing skill and composure to cut inside on his weaker foot and fire home. Said he should have started ahead of Murphy and I still feel he should have, Higdon and McHugh up front for me next week please. Murphy looked none to great again today and if i'm honest I feel he needs to try and show some of the agression that McHugh did when he came on. Not getting carried away with Bob it's only one goal but I've always felt he had something about him and in the last few games he's taken his chance. Well done Bob.. The rest were okay. Not a great game but a clean fucking sheet! Hallelujah! Forgot what they were like. Thought Clancy was much better today as was Hammell. Lasley MOTM for me again, superb. Wasn't a great game but we needed a win after the week we've had and we got it. The fact it was a late winner against old judas himself made it all the sweeter.
  11. Lasley by a distance for me. Carried on where he left off on Tuesday. Bob did well when he came on. Hammell had a good game and Clancy performed much better and was unlucky not to score.
  12. Jennings does look a touch overweight and a yard off the pace. Don't think you can say he's isn't interested, he looks out of form. I would drop him as Forbes deserves a game and hopefully a few games on the bench will help Jenno as he's clearly been struggling. There's no doubt he's a very good player for us but he's been a shadow of that player for most of this season and has been woeful in the last few games.
  13. Keith Lasley was immense last night. After a dodgy opening 20 mins he then scored and was fantastic for the next 100 odd mins. He was winning tackles, spraying passes forward was getting from box to box and was everywhere last night. Even more spectacular when you consider he was carrying Jennings for the first 90 minutes.
  14. I'll be honest and say I forgot he was even here. I heard he was meant to be the next big thing but apart from two sub appearances against Celtic don't think I've seen him play. He's not even been making the bench and seems to have fallen behind Lawless in the pecking order. Is he not nearly 20? I'm sure he was only given a new 1 year deal in the summer so I can't imagine the club expect him to make too much of an impact.
  15. Look I can't be arsed arguing cause you don't like Higdon and won't change your opinion no matter what. I will say this for the last time, he was outstanding last night. He set up the first goal for Lasley with his knockdown. He then swept in the 2nd with a wonderful finish. Add this to the countless headers he won at both ends of the park, several crucial ones in our own area and plenty down the other end. His link up play was top notch when the ball is played into feet. Countless times he dropped deep to get the ball and played 3 or 4 cracking passes in behind the full back for Humphrey to get on the end off. You then wonder why he insn't in the box to finish it? His workrate finally. Lazy to an extent yes but no where near as bad as some make out, several occasions when he lost the ball last night he chased back and ended up in his own half to try and win the ball back. He took responsibility and stood up to be counted when it would have been easier to hide giving the abuse he was getting at the start. He then stood up and slammed home his pen to round off a great performance. He was brilliant last night and if you didn't see that then you never will.
  16. Murphy & Jennings OUT. Both been piss poor recently and could do with a seat on the bench. Forbes and McHugh IN. Both get unfair stick but both deserve their chance. Forbes had a great game against St.Mirren and has barely had a kick of the ball since. He couldn't be any worse than Jenno has over the last two games. As I said in the match thread McHugh looked good tonight and should have had the winner. Murphy looks low on confidence and needs a spot on the bench. I've watched McHugh when he plays and he does get into a number of good positions and I feel he could work well of Higdon. I feel he would have got on a few of these crosses that we were flashing across the goal. Page could get game but who for? Clancy was the better of the defensive partnership as Craigan was partly to blame for the first and responsible for the second. Will McCall drop him, doubt it. Maybe Daley deserves a start but the Humph played well until he got injured so I would leave him in if fit. Aberdeen lost 3 to a part time team so there will be goals in this game for us and I'm confident we will score. My biggest worry is if we can keep them out which after tonight looks unlikely. McCall you said they had a chance to make amends... well a number of them did redeem themselves. However the above mentioned were poor again and deserved to be dropped. Does McCall have the balls to make changes? I think we are about to find out a lot about McCall on Saturday. If we play like we did tonight and create the number of openings I feel we can win but we MUST tighten it up at the back . How good would it be to get that auld git the boot on Saturday. Motherwell 3-1 Aberdeen
  17. Despite McHugh having his detractors(haven't seen enough of him myself to make a fair judgement) did no one else find it funny that for 90 mins we had countless crosses flashed across the box with no takers. Yet when Bob came on he got in the right position and his goal should have stood, getting in the 6 yard box to finish. He was also free when Law was through and could have scored if Law had squared it. Same thing that happenned against Killie. He was making the right runs into the box and looking to get on the end of things. He also had a couple of good touches and one mazy dribble to set up a good chance for Lasley. He also took his pen well. I know I will get shot down by some for saying this but I'd start him against Aberdeen. Give him a chance and give Higdon someone to play off and someone to try and get on the end of countless crosses we put across the face of goal. Let's face it he couldn't do any less than Murph has in the last two games.
  18. Positives: We were better than Saturday, created chances and could have scored a few more. Higdon showed some fans don't have a clue, big man was immense, goal an assist and stood up for the first pen. Lasley after a few bad games was back to his best, outstanding tonight. I actually thought the Humph played better until he was injured, gave Murray a torrid time in the 2nd half. Law was good again but why can't the man shoot? He's such a good player until he gets in front of goal. Daley looked handy. Negatives Our defence is a fucking shambles. If it wasn't for Randolph they could have had 6 again at Fir Park. Craigan just kick the ball the way you're facing Murphy poor again, deserves a spell on the bench. Will McCall have the balls to do it? Jennings get your fucking finger out. You're better than this, shite again tonight. Give Forbes his chance. Craigan just kick the fucking ball the way you're facing!!! McCall MUST make changes for Saturday.
  19. Gave it to Lasley, was poor for the first 20 but then put in an unbelievable performance. Winning tackles, spraying passes, took his goal well. He also had to do the work of two men with the way Jennings is playing.
  20. Higdon was immense tonight, bettered only by Lasley. Anyone who says otherwise needs their head checked.
