    Top 6?

If we can finish in the top six then obviously the lowest we can finish is sixth and we get the associated prize money. Finish in the bottom six and, even although we could be well clear of relegation, the league's really tight and a slump could see us finish 9th or 10th. That's potentially a big drop in money. Unfortunately I doubt we'll get top six but I also doubt we'll have a slump so can see us finishing 7th.
  2. On the slim chance I can get my car out of my street in Glasgow, even if the roads around the ground are clear can you park at the side of them or is it just a clear track up the middle for driving?
  3. How many postponements did our game against Locos have? 7 or 8? When we did get the game on the journey was pretty hairy up to around Dundee and then there was hardly any snow beyond there although it was absolutely freezing in Inverurie. Cracking fish supper though!
  4. Is there a chance this game will now be in doubt as well? Bad weather seems to be with us for another few days, hopefully the extra day will be enough to let conditions improve. Bring back Rickoza for weather predictions!
  5. That's got me out of taking my life in my hands by shouting abuse at Kipre for being a big Jessie by wearing gloves! My trains are off and I had to walk to work as I couldn't get the car out the street so I doubt I would have made it- if it had been on the crowd would have been tiny. I see the title of the topic has been changed to say postponed because of a frozen pitch. Is that actually the case?
  6. Nice t-shirt and shorts weather then. Don't want any of the players turning out in tights or gloves or any of that nonsense.
  7. It doesn't seem to have stopped games in the past. I remember the cup game at Dundee before this season's there was really bad snow in the central belt but none in Dundee so the game went ahead.
  8. The forecast for Wednesday is showing a lot of snow all down the eastern side of Scotland. It wouldn't surprise me if the effect on travel puts the game off. It always amazes me though when there are travel warnings on tv and radio and announcements that you should only travel if essential to do so and yet there are still football games on. To me and many others, travel is essential if the game's on!
  9. Great win that must have us nearly safe from relegation which is objective number one for this season. Didn't sound pretty though.
  10. Dundee played well at times but their finishing was poor in the cup game. Long may that continue! Unless they can sort that out I fancy us to take something today.
  11. 38 points you say? So beat Dundee tomorrow and Aberdeen midweek and we're home and dry - sounds easy when you say it like that!
  12. Hmm, I think Wallace Mercer and John Boyle made similar suggestions. They weren't very well received.
  13. While we acknowledge his passing could improve, he's not been helped by teammates regularly failing to make themselves available. Frear also had numerous chances in the first half to move up the wing when Dunne had the ball which would have taken the defender with him and allowed Dunne to quickly advance into space. I don't know if they've been told not to leave themselves exposed but there seemed a reluctance to exploit gaps.

    Fir Park Pitch

Yeah, noticed a few more nibbles than normal but having watched highlights of the other games from the weekend it still looks one of, if not, the best. We're coming into the spell when pitches normally look their worst before the growing season kicks in again so no surprise it's looking very slightly tired.
  15. Good to see this thread resurrected- some good memories although I have to admit the last few discussions have been a wee bit before my time! Having looked back over a few pages the one thing that jumped out was the number of posters that don't seem to get involved nowadays. I know there's many reasons for that (and I'm not looking to start on that as it won't be to anyone's benefit) but it's a pity as the more people willing to share memories and have an interest in this club of ours the better.
  16. So yes, two decades ago. I think he was trying to praise you. We know that our better teams in recent years weren't a patch on our better teams in the 90's either.
  17. Don't get me started on John Robertson's punch into the net. I nearly crashed the car last year when I heard him on the radio complaining about players cheating.
  18. Probably looking for a draw between Kilmarnock and Dundee tonight.
  19. Kilmarnock play Dundee tomorrow night so I wouldn't rule out them picking up a knock or two if Dundee play like they did at the weekend although I believe Jordan Jones misses tomorrow's game through suspension.
  20. I was amazed the guy who chopped Cadden down as he was on a run in the second half didn't get booked- that was as cynical as you get.
  21. What really impresses about Dunne is his ability to step in and nick the ball away from forwards as they receive a pass. He did it at one point, out of position on the right of the centre circle, and then played a lovely little dink over the head of a Dundee player to the feet of our guy on the right. Really coming onto a game.
  22. I didn't think he was offside at the time (something we've been really poor for recently) and tv pictures seem to confirm that.
  23. Good few candidates but I voted for Dunne midweek and I'm voting for him again. Him and the much criticised Rose have really upped their game since the break.
  24. Fair assessment but praise is due for the work of our forward players in closing down their back line, preventing them from playing it out from the back and forcing it to play it long which our defence just laps up. Some good performances throughout the team but special mention to Cadden who I thought in the first half had his best performance in a long time. Bigi (Dundee announcer will still be having nightmares) also did well when he came on.
  25. I had been going to comment that if Hartley's injury is longer term then we'd be left short for when the inevitable injuries and suspensions kicked in but this news has beaten me to it. I assume that Aldred was brought in with the intention of him being back-up but he's so far shown himself to be more than deserving of his place in the first team. I can see McHugh being put back in defence as that has been the preferred option previously. Is Plummer injured long term as he just doesn't seem to be in the frame at all?
