  1. Aye, I might have been sucked in had he not mentioned McCall and Blobby.
  2. It's easy to say that we should get rid of someone, but that would involve either paying off their contract or convincing another club to take it on. If a player isn't of SPL quality but is getting SPL wages, then I don't see them taking a pay cut just because we don't want them, and I also don't see any lower league clubs being happy to take on their wages. I also don't see us off-loading the long-term injured. Our backup players are never going ot be as good as our first teamers, otherwise they wouldn't be bench players at MFC. Once Lasley, Craigan, McGarry, Fitzy, and Smith's contracts are up I wouldn't be too fussed if they left, but at the moment at least Craggs and Las are good experienced backup. As for bringing players in, we oculd really do with some creativity.
  3. I'm not the most creative person in the world, and maybe I'm too old to understand these things now, but that flag is shite, and kind of offensive. It's offensive cos it has an irishman weilding a machine gun, and it's also offense due to it being ridiculously shite. Maybe I'm too far removed from the "good old days" when there was an atmosphere and everyone was standing up and singing and we all used to piss on eachother and eat greasy pies and take in a carry oot and lift the weans over the turnstyle, but I've never understood how a flag adds to the atmosphere. I'm also convinced that the effect an "atmosphere" has on a player's/team's performance is marginal at best.
  4. I'd expect Hateley to start at RB, he did a decent job against St J. With humphrey on the right we still have some pace there to make up for Moutuakills absence.
  5. I heard a far bit of racist abuse coming from the east stand after the incident, but none before. I must just sit near the one racist at FP though, cos I hear it all the time! I don't see what the big deal is, we get to call people paedos but we cant take it when someone slides towards us? Football fans are fucking weirdos :-)
  6. The prices were too high before they increased them for the OF. I don't think my presence is going to be the difference between us winning or losing, but if it was I reckon they may make it cheaper, or maybe even let me in for free.
  7. What weeyin said and bobblehead dolls.
  8. My son's first game was "away" to Gretna when he had just turned 4. It was a good game to start him with as the ground was rather quiet and we just about had a section of the cooper to ourselves! This also doubled as his first trip to the beach. His second game was the Flamurtari game, which was great as every time he started to get restless we'd score. He was very close to going to the cup final in 2005 though, at about 3 months old, but we got a babysitter in the end :-) Personally I think that 4/5 is probably about right, but it really comes down to your own patience. I'd reccomend the cooper or the main stand though, as you can avoid inconveniencing those who go to the games to get away from the wee buggers!
  9. I agree, we have a lot of good attack-minded players who can support Sutton in the target man role, and Murphy and McHugh are good enough at the moment so I think we're getting by in that area ok. However, we're a mess at the back and really need a right back at least, if not another centre half. I'm confident we'll create chances in games, but I know we'll be conceding a few as well.
  10. I dont think people should be getting their hopes up for a known entity, as that just isn't going to happen. I'm not worried about that though, as Stokes was an unknown when he came up to Falkirk, and Porter wasn't exactly a household name. We should put ppc ads on this thread though!
  11. The prices are about the same everywhere, that's why I rarely go to games anymore. It seems that clubs would rather charge people more and put up with reduced attendances, than drop the prices to something less ridiculous and actually have people come to the games.

    Tannoy System

I think the tannoy would sound a lot better if the DJ gave up on the dreadful Queen mash ups.
  13. Ruddy O'Brien Craigan Hutchison Hammel Coke Reynolds Forbes Slane Murphy Sutton
  14. Did we not get Clarky, Porter, and McCormack for nothing though? Did they replace the goals we lost when McDonald and Faddy left? When was the last time we spent money on a striker? Gow would have cost a lot more than the £200k transfer fee, would have no intention of coming here, and he's also shite. I'm not worried. I'm sure the manager knows exactly what he needs and i wouldn't be surprised to see the transfer activity pick up after Thursday.
  15. So, does this mean we didn't hump you? Are we not in the next round now? Does this also mean that your travelling support didn't make that journey just to see their team get owned?
  16. I like the way Jim Gannon conducts himself, as he at least puts across the impression that the is proud to be our manager. McGhee did a great job of taking Malpas' squad and showing the difference a good manager makes, but Gannon doesn't have the benefit of inheriting a full squad, so it will be interesting to see how things play out once he has brought in all the new guys. He has the chance to put his own team together, and he has chosen not to accept last years leftovers as the core of our team. Players like Lasley, Craigan and Hammell have been around MFC for a long time, and I think they are probably quite comfortable here. I don't think for a minute that they are unprofessional, but I think that it is now important to see who is prepared to step up to the challenge and put the work in to get their place back. It was also interesting seeing so many coaches on the pitch during the warm up. Did these guys all come up here with Gannon?
  17. Jennings looked like he was carrying a bit of extra weight, but he put in a good shift and looked pretty gutted with his performance when he came off. He isn't scared of a tackle and was quite happy to do the simple stuff. Humphrey looks pretty quick and he showed some wee flashes of skill, but there were a few occasions where he could have went in with a bit more commitment in the tackle, but it's understanable at this point in the season and also due to the fact we were humping them anyway. His final ball wasn't up to much, he missed the target by a fair bit with most of his efforts on goal, and only put in the one decent cross. Early days though, there's certainly something there.
  18. Sorry, OT I know, but this article from the same site is great, if just for the line "What next? Weal Madwid buying Wwanda?""
  19. Gannon said that since we've now played them once and studied video over the last week, he has a better idea of how to deal with them and he's been working on this plan with the team. Therefore whatever selection/tactics he chooses tonight wont just be a case of him making changes for the sake of it or "putting his stamp on the team", instead it will be what he believes will give us the best chance of getting a result. Whether it works or not is a different story, but that could be said of every manager.
  20. Not trying to be smart here, but is anyone willing to put some names forward of experienced players that we could look at?
  21. Nope different set of officials
  22. I really don't see what the problem is with signing players from leagues which are supposedly below ours. Some excellent SPL players came from the Scottish lower divisions, and Craig Levein seems to do a good job of unearthing these guys without getting stick for it. Last year Falkirk went for some of the better known names from Scotland, like McCan, McNamara, Pressley, and Lovell and we saw how that went. We got Porter and Foran from the English lower leagues, and if you go back a wee while we also got Rab McKinnon from some English club, and I'm sure there are many more. We also have Championship clubs cherry picking some of the best players from the SPL, so I cant see us competing with them for signings. We could sign guys who aren't getting games for their top division clubs, but then they would just be rejects! I mean, we've brought in guys from Man Utd, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs, Birmingham, Man City and Everton (and probably more) in my time, and I don't think we did too well out of that. I'll reserve judgement until I've actually seen these guys play. I couldn't give a toss where they come from, as long as they're good.
  23. We seem to have a thing for pissing off the English wee teams. First Oldham, then Shrewsbury, now Northampton. With four more new signings expected, who else can we collect? I also like our strategy of signing players with posh butler names.
