  1. Some kind of defensive midfielder, a center half, and at least one striker who has some pace. All we really have coming back from injury is Efford and Mcginn, who are decent, but aren't going to move the needle to get us out of the bottom half shit fest.
  2. Clubs will be playing plenty of closed doors/bounce games, which happen during the season too, and there's nothing to suggest we aren't doing the same.
  3. Everyone worked hard, and outside of Slattery no one was particularly bad. I picked Spittal, as he scored the goal and was probably the least mistake prone of the midfielders. The center backs were decent, but they were hardly facing a barrage.
  4. Not many were arguing to keep him at the time, and maybe he wanted to go.
  5. Neither team had the cutting edge needed to win, and we could have nicked it with a better final ball after getting into some good positions. Anyone saying St Johnstone we're better than us is just looking for something to piss their pants about. I thought we worked hard and defended well. I can only think of slattery's brain fart as a legit chance after they scored. We learned our lesson from previous games and made sure we broke up play when needed. It was funny hearing StJ fans of all people complaining about our robust play. Most of the team were dead on their feet during injury time, and the break couldn't come soon enough. That was moults first 90 mins in a long time, and he was chasing lost causes to the end and worked his arse off, and he and KVV almost forced something from that. He was also pretty good on the ball when he had it. However, like Van Veen, he was being dragged deep to get on the ball too often. God do we need some pace though.
  6. KVV is getting involved too deep, and McKinstry has been very quiet. Wouldn't be surprised to see the latter come off early into the second half since he had a fitness issue. Slattery has been very poor. He has had some sparks of attacking stuff, and played a great ball into spittal, but he's a liability defensively, Stevie May let him off the hook after that dumb header. Moults movement is good, and he's fine when on the ball, but we're not finding him enough. Im hoping he can last the 90 just so that we know he can. Spittal's slowness really bothers me, but he's solid enough with the ball, and works hard. By no means our worst player. Decent goal and assist return for a midfielder too.
  7. Just checked the video, the goal went in, and counts just the same as a 30 yard piledriver, and the extra bonus is now we have the same number of goals as St Johnstone. Hopefully we can score another one and win the game.
  8. Hate var. Having to wait so long after two perfectly legitimate goals is a pain in the arse. We should have 1 booking max, the ref is being a dick.
  9. Could be an interesting lineup, but my guess is it will be Shields in for Mckinstry, and KVV will be thrown out there to hobble around. St Johnstone games are boring, especially away. I'll take a tannadice style shitfest 1-0 win. Wouldn't greet at a draw though.
  10. Our lack of a final ball is a real problem, we aren't testing teams at all from set pieces and crosses.
  11. Booking meetings so I don't get tempted to watch this.
  12. Some movement in front of Goss would be nice.
  13. Goss was onside, but since it was called on the field, nothing that happens after that counts. That's why linesmen have been waiting to make the call until the play has played out. I didn't think about that at the time. I hate that they do that, but wish they did it this time :-) The sibbick handball would have been very soft, point blank and his hand was in his bodyline. KVVs offisde was way closer than I thought when I watched it back, still off though.
  14. Although I think he should have been booked, I don't think the rule is that the card is automatic. And again, there is absolutely nothing to suggest we didn't ask the question or protest. Of all of our failings today, putting Gordon's non-sending off on the manager is a weird one.
  15. Unlike some, I'm not going to sit here and let an open goal go begging. Grizzly needs to stop being complacent.
  16. My maw has more baws than some of this team, boom boom!
  17. Maybe he was? Maybe other players were? The ref knew he had a decision to make, and he made it. I think he was wrong, but I doubt players and managers shouting at him would have made any difference.
  18. Spittal is slow, but he also scored our equalizer and has a bunch of assists this year, so wage thief is a bit much. Having a squad where he is an automatic pick isnt helping us though. Our biggest problem right now is that we have no pace at all, and sometimes pace can help paper over the cracks when mistakes are made.
  19. It could have been a cricket score before they had their guy sent off, so I thought about Kelly, but we did concede 3. I'm going to go with Moult because I might never get the chance to do it again. He won the penalty and also allowed KVV to get more involved, which opened things up. He might also be our fastest player, but that's more an indictment on how painfully slow the rest of the team are.
  20. We need good players, I don't care whether they're shouty or not. The scary part is that the 11 that started are probably the best we have available (given moult can't play a whole game). Not having viable options coming of the bench is killing us. We did pull it back from 2-0 down, so I'm not buying the whole "character" thing. We were pressing them up to the final whistle and they were hanging on, so we hardly chucked it. The problem is that we have too many spots occupied by lower division standard players.
  21. Not enough said about Goss being hauled down in the box and being flagged offside, which he wasn't.
  22. I wouldn't blame Sol for the penalty, but he's not a particularly good defender. He's had some good spells, and wins a lot in the air, but has frequent brain farts and isn't quick enough to make up for them. It was good to see moult involved in the game. I thought he was pretty sharp considering, and him and Van Veen had some nice bits of link up play. Slattery looked better, and started really well, but put us in danger a few times by going down expecting the foul.
  23. Criminal to lose the game from the position we were in. After getting back to 2-2 I was all for us taking the risk to try for the win, but that was a cheap way to lose, once again not stopping a run.
  24. Once again we're squandering the few chances we create. We were very luck not to be hosed by about 30 mins, with them missing clear chances and some great blocks from Kelly. But we've had some opportunities too. The red looked a bit soft, wasn't the cleverest tackle though. The ref didn't need to check the screen, so I assume VAR thought it was cut and dried. Losing that goal was really poor, they've cut us open in open play a few times, but to lose a header to a wee guy from a corner like that is criminal.
