  1. I think the mutual consent thing usually includes an agreement on compensation. He seems to have initiated the conversation, so I doubt we've paid him and lucketti off fully, but the communication from both parties suggests things were a bit more amicable than punting him with just his bfh.
  2. I'll factor in that O'Donnell has played mostly shite and most of our fans are in agreement on that. He should be able to handle being a full back instead of his preferred wing back role without dropping of from international defender to total liability. I don't think Alexander is good, and our squad is pretty rubbish, and that's pretty much it. I believe they're all trying to win, but just can't, because of not being good. It's tempting to make the whole situation more than what it is, with "losing the dressing room" and "working his ticket" etc, but most of the time it's more simple than that, we're shite.

    Alexander.

Can we just start the new manager thread now, for therapy purposes? It can't fail because: 1 - we can build some optimism that there are some decent options out there Or 2 - relize we're doomed and start leaning into it.
  4. While I'm not confident due to how ineffective we were last week, and have been since December, it's still just a one goal deficit. That's just one deflected Barry Maguire shot (from either foot) or ricochet off Joe Efford. We would have expected to win the away leg before all this, and nothing has changed. If we score in the last minute and scrape through via penalties, I don't care at this point. The embarrassment of going out will last longer than GA does. Saying that, it looks like I won't be able to watch it because of work, so have fun.
  5. Nope. I don't think we have the setup to accommodate him. We aren't able to get the best out of our current players who are fit and don't have baggage, so I don't have any confidence in us being the club to turn him around.
  6. Commentator at the last game said he was still injured.
  7. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes regarding SOD other than heresay. Either way, he doesn't offer much of an attacking end product. His does tend to press higher up than Mcginn, but his crossing and attacking play just isn't there. Managers have players who aren't fully fit on the bench all the time, and like for like defensive replacements are generally rare outside of injury/nightmares. So having an experienced player to bring on in a pinch, who may just not be ready for a full 90, can be preferable to an untested youngster in that position. While the current situation isn't great, I think the heat has been getting to a few folks, heads gone with some of these takes.
  8. Because he's our only available left back and by in large has been serviceable there. Mcginn is in front of O'Donnell for one reason or another. If it's fitness, then having them both on is a no go, if it is because GA prefers Mcginn in SODs natural position, firing one over to left back and telling them to deal with it isn't clever, and reeks of desperation more than anything else. If we had any kind of attacking threat we probably wouldn't be focusing on the defence as much. We've got a whole season to play, I'd be very worried of the manager started making knee jerk decisions like this at this point, for a game against Sligo.
  9. Don't see bevis getting dropped, and don't think Sol is much better either. Also don't see us getting much of an opportunity to get in behind, so we may need a bit of invention, which I think is more likely from the attacking mids than from the likes of Shields and Efford. Kelly Mcginn Bevis Lamie Carroll Slattery Maguire Morris Tierney Spittal KVV In reality, it's going to be the same XI.
  10. Not sure if a home draw is a good thing if we keep going the way we are, but on paper it's a decent draw, and not a premier team for a change. Who knows what will happen between now and then, maybe we will have a striker.
  11. He moves like he's wearing someone else's legs. I think he can be an effective backs to the wall defender when we're forced deep, or when attacking corners at both ends, but when he's playing further up the pitch he's easily exposed, and he's caught out easily when the play isn't in front of him. I'm not sure if being part of a three would be better or worse.
  12. I'm sure st Mirren would be easy to deal with :-)
  13. We are a team that is very easy to deal with. At no point did we look like a genuine threat to them, and I thought they missed a trick by sitting in, as they were causing us trouble at the back.
  14. Pretty sure only Carroll is booked. I like the look of Morris, his movement is good. Kevin van Veen is way off the pace and there's no way in a million years that's he's going to score. We will never score ever again. Prove me wrong universe :-)
  15. While I think we did the right thing by not letting him go to Celtic when they came in for him (from the clubs perspective), what a sliding doors moment that was for Carson. You can see why players often opt for the move that brings them the most money in the present, because you can never be sure how things are going to pan out, and you can't really grudge them that. You can look at Hastie as a similar example.
  16. See over on p&b that Trevor Carson may be injured again. That guy has no luck.
  17. As above, the only good player we lost from last season was Watt. Everyone else was either shite, or inconsistent/injured, and not one of them would have been a difference maker today, never mind in an actual important game. I still hope we have an addition or two to make, but the three we've brought in so far, and with the likes of Slattery and shields hopefully progressing, I'm not in a panic.
  18. Maybe we changed our system, or maybe Spittal will play that role on the right, or maybe we're still looking at a replacement. Woolery wasn't even getting a game in the end. Either way, the best part of 40 games and only 3 goals and a couple of assists isn't great. I thought there was potential there, but he's not really at the age of untapped potential, so I'm not going to get wound up about him going.
  19. This is likely a nominal fee and the benefit of getting his wages off the books. We'll cover our losses to a degree, but that's it. I assume that Morris was the preemptive replacement.
  20. The forum had a lot more sway back in the fhw days. With hearts, hibs, and Aberdeen, you know there's always a banter season on the horizon, so I can never get too worked up about them. It's also funny that they spend a shit tonne more money, but end up with the same results as the likes of us and St J. Until St. Mirren went on their motherwell tribute tour they were always the team I forgot were in the league. They care a lot about us though. I'd quite happily see livi drop down the leagues with their shite pitch and ned manager. The other non of clubs are pretty neutral to me.
  21. There was also a game, I think the year before this, where we beat Aberdeen 2-1 at FP. Paul lambert scored with a good finish after a nice move, then Coyne and Davies combined for a clever free kick routine, where the latter passed to TC down the outside of the wall, and he finished under the keeper from a tight angle. Not a hugely important game, but I had it taped off sportscene, and could see myself in the crowd, so it stuck with me. The footage isn't online, which is a shame.
  22. That strip had some good memories attached to it. There was Jamie Dolan day, where we decided to stick one of the smallest people on the park in goal after Howie got injured against Celtic. Billy Davies also scored a header, so good day for the wee guys.
  23. Donnelly linked with killie. I'm surprised, as he seemed a perfect for for the other stripey team. Interesting to see Gallagher linking up with Robinson and a bunch of his old 'well teammates again. Maybe it will all work out fine and Robbo will find his mojo again, or maybe there will be a fair amount of banter.
  24. Burrows said they were working on some things, so I don't think it's a case of GA being happy with what we have, but it's possible we're either waiting on specific people, or we're losing out to other teams. I think we definitely need a few more in, but I don't think our squad is bad enough that we need to panic
