Don't see bevis getting dropped, and don't think Sol is much better either. Also don't see us getting much of an opportunity to get in behind, so we may need a bit of invention, which I think is more likely from the attacking mids than from the likes of Shields and Efford. Kelly Mcginn Bevis Lamie Carroll Slattery Maguire Morris Tierney Spittal KVV In reality, it's going to be the same XI.

Not sure if a home draw is a good thing if we keep going the way we are, but on paper it's a decent draw, and not a premier team for a change. Who knows what will happen between now and then, maybe we will have a striker.

He moves like he's wearing someone else's legs. I think he can be an effective backs to the wall defender when we're forced deep, or when attacking corners at both ends, but when he's playing further up the pitch he's easily exposed, and he's caught out easily when the play isn't in front of him. I'm not sure if being part of a three would be better or worse.

I'm sure st Mirren would be easy to deal with :-)

We are a team that is very easy to deal with. At no point did we look like a genuine threat to them, and I thought they missed a trick by sitting in, as they were causing us trouble at the back.

Pretty sure only Carroll is booked. I like the look of Morris, his movement is good. Kevin van Veen is way off the pace and there's no way in a million years that's he's going to score. We will never score ever again. Prove me wrong universe :-)

While I think we did the right thing by not letting him go to Celtic when they came in for him (from the clubs perspective), what a sliding doors moment that was for Carson. You can see why players often opt for the move that brings them the most money in the present, because you can never be sure how things are going to pan out, and you can't really grudge them that. You can look at Hastie as a similar example.

See over on p&b that Trevor Carson may be injured again. That guy has no luck.

As above, the only good player we lost from last season was Watt. Everyone else was either shite, or inconsistent/injured, and not one of them would have been a difference maker today, never mind in an actual important game. I still hope we have an addition or two to make, but the three we've brought in so far, and with the likes of Slattery and shields hopefully progressing, I'm not in a panic.

Maybe we changed our system, or maybe Spittal will play that role on the right, or maybe we're still looking at a replacement. Woolery wasn't even getting a game in the end. Either way, the best part of 40 games and only 3 goals and a couple of assists isn't great. I thought there was potential there, but he's not really at the age of untapped potential, so I'm not going to get wound up about him going.
-
This is likely a nominal fee and the benefit of getting his wages off the books. We'll cover our losses to a degree, but that's it. I assume that Morris was the preemptive replacement.

The forum had a lot more sway back in the fhw days. With hearts, hibs, and Aberdeen, you know there's always a banter season on the horizon, so I can never get too worked up about them. It's also funny that they spend a shit tonne more money, but end up with the same results as the likes of us and St J. Until St. Mirren went on their motherwell tribute tour they were always the team I forgot were in the league. They care a lot about us though. I'd quite happily see livi drop down the leagues with their shite pitch and ned manager. The other non of clubs are pretty neutral to me.

There was also a game, I think the year before this, where we beat Aberdeen 2-1 at FP. Paul lambert scored with a good finish after a nice move, then Coyne and Davies combined for a clever free kick routine, where the latter passed to TC down the outside of the wall, and he finished under the keeper from a tight angle. Not a hugely important game, but I had it taped off sportscene, and could see myself in the crowd, so it stuck with me. The footage isn't online, which is a shame.

That strip had some good memories attached to it. There was Jamie Dolan day, where we decided to stick one of the smallest people on the park in goal after Howie got injured against Celtic. Billy Davies also scored a header, so good day for the wee guys.

Donnelly linked with killie. I'm surprised, as he seemed a perfect for for the other stripey team. Interesting to see Gallagher linking up with Robinson and a bunch of his old 'well teammates again. Maybe it will all work out fine and Robbo will find his mojo again, or maybe there will be a fair amount of banter.

Burrows said they were working on some things, so I don't think it's a case of GA being happy with what we have, but it's possible we're either waiting on specific people, or we're losing out to other teams. I think we definitely need a few more in, but I don't think our squad is bad enough that we need to panic

This is about as neutral a signing as we could make in my view. Found that sweet spot between getting his name on my shirt and chasing him out of town with a pitchfork. Very zen.

He can play on the right of a back 3 and RB, so gives us cover/competition for SOD and the option of switching up formations. Is max still a RB? I think he played in midfield a bit for QotS.

St Mirren fans talk a load of shite. Who knows if we were in for him, it's very rare that a club tells the fans who they failed to sign. If our aim is to take our time and sign the right players that make us better, I'm not sure if taking a flyer on a one year deal for an unproven player fits that bill, but we'll never know. This season I hope that Maguire can stay fit and Cornelius continues to come along. There's also the possibility of Johnston getting more game time , so hopefully one of those three can kick on, and we get a glimpse of one or two more youth prospects during the season.

St Johnstone lost two of the best non-of players in the league and replaced them with Ali Crawford. They deserved relegation for that, but Dundee out did their stupidity. If Spittal is considered a midfielder/winger, then I assume that we will bring a centre forward to challenge KVV. We're short of backup at RB, and I hope to God we're looking for a first choice CB. I also assume we will be looking for a defensive midfielder, since I don't think we have one. If we're really just bringing in 3 or 4, I sincerely doubt one will be a LB unless Carroll is off somewhere.

The club should have waited until the home/away dates were confirmed with UEFA (which is tomorrow at 6pm), before posting dates. Mistake? Yes. Shambles? Come on now.

I like Dunne, but paying money for him is crazy.

Maybe Donnelly will be one of those that you don't realize how good he is until he's gone. He seems to have a good reputation but other than his goal scoring patch I can only remember him letting runners stroll past him, and playing lazy hospital passes. He and O'Hara were the worst for those. Both of them had lengthy periods out injured, and that seems to have been the case at their previous clubs too. Maybe their new team will solve that and they can have a whole season of ignoring runners. Spittal is a decent signing, although it doesn't fit our 4-3-3 model, unless he's one of the front 3. He puts in a decent cross, and has some creativity, two things that we need, so I'm happy to see how this one pans out.
