  1. I'm not worried about the squad size at this point. Half the players we had before the window got us into this situation, and we've had to replace them with (hopefully) better to get us out of it. We also have a good few injuries.  I doubt were going to try and find ways to get everyone a game.

It's not always possible to ship players out, due to contracts and stuff, but maybe we will see some loans to the lower leagues tomorrow.

  2. Happy enough for Crawford to stay, if nothing else it strengthens our bench, but he has been decent in his starts.

Dunne is a case of standing by our ethos of not letting players leave injured. He's only 27, so there's always the possibility of him staying on longer if he gets fit.

  3. For those deafened by the silence

Flow on Twitter: "We are looking / hoping to be doing more business by Monday night. This has, and I am sure most clubs would agree, been the most difficult window to recruit, perhaps ever, but we’re working hard. If we can get players who will improve what we have, we’ll try and bring them in."

  4. It seems the rest of the league are in the same position as us, with most teams making pretty underwhelming signings or none at all. I'm trying to think of a player that's signed elsewhere that I wish we'd got first. Jackson Irvine to hibs maybe, but we're never going to compete with them on wages. It also doesn't matter how much money we have if players just don't want to come here, which is enough of a problem when there isn't a pandemic.

Kelly has been a good signing, and we can't judge the other 3 until we see them play for us. If you look back at previous January windows, the successful signings were all unknowns at the time. I hope we're not done strengthening, but I wouldn't be surprised if we are. I'm more worried about keeping our players at this stage.

  5. We didn’t look like doing anything in the first half, and while county weren’t making chances, they looked more likely to score and were winning every second ball. Gallagher was mugged by hylton for the goal, and Kelly didn’t do himself any favors with the attempted save, and at that point it looked like the same old story was going to unfold. We looked devoid of confidence and ideas. I was expecting changes at half time, but obviously Alexander saw something worth persevering with.

while we were far from perfect in the second half, we stuck to a game plan (as the manager alluded in his interview) and played with a lot more purpose. We then got the bit of luck we needed when maguire was fortunate to retrieve the ball after losing it in a dangerous position, and showed great composure to start off an excellent move for Cole to finish after some great play from O’Donnell, long and watt. We continued to fight in shitty conditions and deservedly went ahead with a great finish from Bevis the Ugandan Prince. I will watch that majestic header on loop until next Wednesday.

We still ended up hanging on at the end, with a couple of close shaves, but it is a huge deal that we were able to turn this one around and finally get a win. We have played better and lost, but I’ll take the points any day. I’m glad there isn’t a game for a week because county kicked the shit out of us.

This doesn’t suddenly fix all our issues, but I’m going to enjoy it for a week. Campbell desperately needs a rest, and hopefully incoming signings will allow us to do that. Watt’s work rate is phenomenal, and Cole is showing what he can do when played in the right position.

  6. There is no excuse to persevere with seedorf now. I'm sure we will find out why polworth was sent off, but he was very lucky not to have got a straight red in the first half. Thankfully we have no choice but to play without him for the next game, that gives me some hope.

We were lucky not to be 2 or 3 down in the first half, Hedges came very close twice. But we did show some glimpses of getting back into it, and we were unlucky in ththe end not to go in level at half time.

The second half was a shitshow, with the ref losing the plot, and our heads went down as soon as polworth was sent off, and we just don't have the guts to handle situations like that. Can't really judge Smith at this point, but he did win more headers than white did all season.

I didn't see anything today to suggest we are improving, or that we won't be struggling to finish 10th. We're hopeless right now.

  7. Denied as blatant a penalty you will ever see, but were lucky to see polworth only get a yellow later on.

Seedorf is a liability right now, and doesn't strike me as someone making the most of a second chance. He needs to come off and hopefully follow white out the door.

We are not taking advantage if a shaky Aberdeen side, we're showing no urgency.

  8. Carroll is fine, and a good bit of business to keep him. My motherwell supporting life has been blessed with some great left backs, with Boyd, Hammell, and McKinnon in there. Carroll isn't any of those, but he's not Straker, Hendrie or ATS either.

Who knows with Harry Smith, doesn't seem to be prolific, but maybe he's one of these big guys who actually uses his height to his advantage.

  9. He was injured then his wife had a baby. I don't think we need to read into it much more. Can't imagine playing up here while his wife was in England expecting a baby was a good idea, even if covid wasn't a thing.  We were his last resort option, and he treated it as such.

I'm not for trying to salvage that one, it would be better to be shot of him.

I think our game management has improved since Alexander came in. We take our time over throw-ins and the keeper falls on the ball at every save. Might not seem like much at the time but when defending a lead can make a big difference.

Kelly's trot at goal kicks infuriates me, and I want him to waste time.
