I haven’t seen much evidence of Polworths work ethic being an issue since he signed. He’s had good and bad games like anyone else, but the number of assists he has is crazy. He is also pretty strong on the ball and tracks back his fair share. He has been overshadowed by Gallagher in the player of the season talk, which is just bad luck. I hope we are able to continue making these kind of signings to complement the English lower league reclamation projects.

I could only watch it in bits, but Aberdeen didn't have that cutting edge, and I thought we defended well at the end, with everyone working themselves into the ground. Donnelly stood out for me from what I saw. That was a stonewall penalty for them, we were caught cold and should have been punished. It was collum though, and he owes us a few. Polworth with another great assist too. What a day. How did Illic do? Any news on longs injury? Overall a huge result, and one I really wasnt expecting.

I don’t watch or acknowledge midweek games against Aberdeen.

Good for him I guess. That’s a weird one.

Seedorf will always have that screamer against hearts. He was electric for a few games, but he looks to have lost confidence and been found out by our opposition. He would probably get the benefit of the doubt more if he was from wishaw, but either way he's not much of an option right now.

We weren't particularly good, but didn't need to be. Some great play by Campbell, Polworth and long for the second. Polworth had a good game until that tackle, and I thought Donnelly did a good job in his place. Campbell looked back to his old self. Hartley and O'Hara are liabilities on the ball, I dont know where Hartleys mind was today, but he played some awful passes. Seedorfs form has really dropped off a cliff. That second half started a lot like accies, where they didn't seem to do anything special but suddenly made us look shaky. We were lucky to ride that spell, and their keeper really sold the jerseys. But the great thing about the cup is that is doesnt matter, on to an away draw against a premier league team.

Saw somewhere that had Robinson saying that Gillespie still has his spot on merit.

I don’t see a huge departure from our usual lineups happening, unless someone has been crazy good/bad in training: Gillespie Grimshaw, Gallagher, Hartley, Carroll Campbell, Donnelly, Polworth Long, Scott, Hylton

It's on the daily record transfer tracker thing. Also mentions were interested in a pre contract for jordan white from caley thistle.

I'm sure in theory we could improve every single position, but our limited resources should be aimed at the holes we have. We'd be as well not signing anyone if we can't get a striker. We desperately need someone that can keep defenders occupied and bring the wingers into the game, and make doubling up on them a more difficult proposition. We already have 5 players for 2 wide spots, and arguably no one for centre forward. This also makes changing our system pretty difficult. Manzinga is a wild card because he just can't stay fit, and there isn't much to judge McIver on, which means we will have to keep going with Scott or long centrally. Scott doesnt want to play there and long can't hold the ball up.

Wingers are my favourite kind of player, I love them, I am one too. No one is happier seeing a good winger than me. We don't need more wingers.

That article has the usual whiff of made up shite. However, 500k would be lowball for our best player at the moment, who also has a year and a half on his deal and is a Scotland international. We’re in a position that we don’t need to accept a bid unless it meets our valuation (which I’m sure has gone up since July), but I’m at peace with us selling him if that valuation is met. To get 750k for someone we just signed for free half a season ago would be some business. We seem to have some promising prospects in Hussein and Devine, with Hartley, Dunne, Mugabi and Maguire in the meantime. We also don’t seem to have a problem signing good defenders. And that’s Manzinga in the photie.

A lot depends on who is ready to come back from injury and whether there is anyone available (that we can afford) that can make us better. We all agree that an actual center forward would be nice, but we’re probably not the only team trying to find one. lafferty will have to wait until the next window, since he signed for Sunderland.

I don’t normally talk shop on here, but what we have is what’s called in the industry “a shite website”

There isn’t too much the club can do, but it really is pointless getting excited about any youth prospect at Motherwell these days.

Burrows made it clear on the latest podcast that the the fee for Hastie was agreed early and amicably, and it matched fifa requirements, with a sell on fee added.

I’ve got to imagine that he’s at least been tipped off that Gillespie isn’t staying past this season. Will be interesting to see if this changes our selection going forward.
-
I expect 1, maybe 2 incoming. Other than the obvious budgetary considerations, I don't see a need for more than that as we seem to be pretty well covered across the board.

Richard Tait is crying.

It's not impossible that there's more to it, but our midfield has been fairly settled and the team is doing well, so it's up to Sloth to force his way into the team. Robinson hasn't tended to rotate players to give them games in the past, and the 4-3-3 is working so far. When the team is doing well and there are few injuries some folk are just going to be out of luck. We had the same with Hartley last year, and soon one of him and Dunne are going to be the odd one out.

All things considered, this is one of the mildest post loss meltdowns I’ve seen in a while. We’ve come a long way in 2019 :-)
-
With Donnelly and Turnbull set to return in the second half, I’d be surprised if we signed a midfielder. Although, if sloth goes it would open up a spot there. How do we look in midfield in the reserves? Are semple or Cornelius close? Defensively we have Dunne on the way back, so we should be fine there too. We definitely need a striker that offers something different, and hopefully not another “can play wide or up front” type, as we have plenty of them. Someone who can keep the defenders occupied and bring our wingers into the game.
