  1. The society members elected a board to do that. Now, whether they are actually using their position to hold the club to account, I don't know.
  2. I haven't seen much about Spencer at CB, but SOD has filled in there for us before, and will probably be in there for his experience. The last thing we need is to hamstring Spencer another way now that he's on his preferred right side. The lineup above seems the most likely, since it's pretty much all we have. Which ever stiker is most adept at defending from the front should be who gets the nod alongside beireth. We can't have st j strolling up to our 18 yard line like dundee did last week. We're going to get battered with crosses and set plays, so hopefully they don't have any wee guys for us to ignore.
  3. Looking at who other teams have brought in, I'm not excited about our prospects of finding a good replacement. I think this is a year of hoping everyone else finds a way of being worse than us then regrouping in the summer.
  4. I agree that we should manage our expectations due to the financial limitations we are under, however, there's at least one club in our division that brings in less money than us, if not more, and there aren't many in the championship that can compete with us financially. We're definitely there or thereabouts when it comes to the 12 biggest clubs in the country from a financial perspective. That doesn't guarantee anything of course, when you see what has happened to utd, hibs, and hearts. Now, where I think we have a big problem is that we have often relied on things like quality players devoting their careers to us (lasley, hammell), chief executives working for peanuts, and shrewd decisions on managers and signings. The first point is out of our control now with the way the game is, but the decision making at executive level has been killing us for the last few years. I don't think we can afford the kind of chief exec that we all want, especially when we're actively cutting budgets, so we're relying on someone doing us a favor, and that will get old pretty fast.
  5. SK said we'd be looking to bring in one or two in january, which isn't a surprise. Where would you see us adding someone? My assumption is a defender and a midfielder based on our current situation. Ideally a midfielder with some mobility, and a defender that can do what Butcher did last season. I don't think we have any loanees coming back, nor the option to break any of our loans (not that I'd want to). Can't realistically see any outs when we're sticking three kids on the bench each week. Could we lose any of our guys that are in their last year?
  6. Mcginn and Miller are big losses, but we bought a shit ton of strikers and no backup for elsewhere, which is dumb. Fair play to oli shaw today for giving us a glimpse of something. Butcher may well be done, and he definitely is as a midfielder. He does make us more solid when defending set pieces though, which we sorely needed. He needs to be a bench option once we have everyone back. I like Paton if we have 3 other midfielders, he can interact with. He's not very good at giving the ball to strikers. As for the manager, I rarely get to the "sack him" stage, and I'm not there now, but I won't be on here complaining if he's not here on tuesday. I think we can turn our fortunes around with the current management team, because he still has the players fighting for each other, and there is no lack of effort. However, I don't think SK offers anything special that we should be desperate to hold onto him.
  7. The goals we are conceding are laughable. Lyle Cameron is 5'2", not fucking invisible. His movement was clever, but we just watched him do it. We have improved in both boxes for set pieces, but we are all over the place at crosses from open play. We are hamstringing one of our best players in Spencer by playing him on the wrong side. Kettlewell was initially good at taking feelings out of the equation and picking the best side, he's not doing that now. The players are certainly fighting, but they aren't being set up to succeed.
  8. Lovely feet from shaw to put wilkinson through, and an excellent composed finish.
  9. We scored from a corner, cats and dogs are rejoicing together. Outside of the penalties, celtic had 2 real chances, but they never got in behind us, and we did a great job of nullifying them from crosses. Kyogo was anonymous too. For us, I felt that spittal was looking for beireth too early sometimes, and could have held onto the ball or had a go himself. Going with 3 up top immediately after going behind was a good move, and it gave us that chance to hit back quickly, and we did. I see us going with the same lineup for a while, as is makes us more solid, and gives us a bit more for set pieces. It's good to see Blaney settle into things too.
  10. Went with mugabi. He is excellent when we have to just defend deep, as is blaney, and I felt he was unlucky with the penalty. I genuinely felt that everyone played their part today and stuck to the plan, as basic as it was. There's an argument for most of the team getting a vote.
  11. We've had some really nice inter play but missing the last killer pass. Thought Slattery had the chance to get in front of the defender and get clean through, but he decided to pass instead. Bair has found a motherwell player with the majority of his flicks, which is nice too. The whistle came at the right time, SOD was revving up to go through someone.
  12. Efford just signed for a Greek team on a 3 year deal. I'm going to call his agent.
  13. Worth it for Slattery's goal against hearts.
  14. Efford's deal when he signed was until this summer, was there something that said we extended it further?.
  15. If he moves up to a bigger ball each time he'll be throwing weans in no time.
  16. That was a very gutsy performance for most of the second half, with everyone desperate to keep the clean sheet. The sheer determination from everyone in our squad right now is a sight to behold. We were very good in the first half and didn't look like we were in much trouble. We struggled a bit when they changed their shape, but still restricted them to 2 real chances, the header from their sub and the one shankland snatched at, other than that we were rock solid. Mcginn was hard done by, he was DDTd and somehow got booked for it. I'd love to see Spencer on the right, but doubt O'Donnell will lose his place any time soon. Brodie is Josh Morris levels of one footed. Our midfield four link up so well, and are excellent on the counter. Bair did his wrecking ball job well, but we need more movement up there to make the most of the midfield. We might need to plan for our next manager the way things are going, with Hearts and Aberdeen likely to fire managers this season.
  17. Spencer played well, but almost fucked us by not using his left foot when one in one with clark. Slattery was excellent too, as was Mugabi, and really, no one was bad today. I went for Casey, he just drives us right now, throwing himself in front of everything and barely putting a foot wrong.
  18. Anyone know what he had to eat before the game?
  19. In the first half only O'Donnell and Slattery would try to put their foot on the ball and calm things down. Spittal played some excellent through balls and incisive passes, but both the stikers just let everything bounce off them. At that point I would have taken a sneaky point all day long, we were woeful. We snatched at passes and panicked like we were playing prime Celtic, instead of an agricultural mcinnes side. Paton changed that with his close control and compusure. Spencer came into the game in the second half, but obviously struggled on his wrong side. He is very very fast. The defense was pretty good outside of the goal which was due to bair losing his man(although casey should have e won the header anyway). Kelly made an excellent save late in the first half to stop an almost identical goal as well.
  20. Paton changed the game for us. He was excellent, had composure when we were lacking it, and it brought the other midfielders into the game. I might still be high on that last minute goal, but I think I love him.
  21. Do we know what Soare and Wilkinsons injuries are? Beireth has to get the benefit of the doubt here, as we saw that horror tackle with our own eyes, but we are making some very big assumptions on the other two since we didn't see how the injury happen. I'd definitely question why we've picked up some serious injuries in training, but stop short of blaming the players or us for signing them until I actually know the details.
  22. It isn't hard to send out a couple of tweets each week, or even just post a schedule somewhere (jeez, send us a list and we'll post it). As such, my assumption is that the club deliberately doesn't want us to know much about these games. Maybe they have a reason, but it beats me. This, along with a refusal to post normal highlights of any game, seems to be a remnant of the previous guys whole deal about engagement and all that shite. It's nice to attract attention and new fans, but maybe throw a bone to the existing ones? I like the videos we currently do as well, but there must be room for both.
  23. This is it for me. I don't really want to know who the CEO is. I don't know who they are at any other club outside of Aberdeen for obvious reasons. I want them to do the job competently and hire the right people to support them, including a paid fan liaison. The idea of a unicorn volunteer is tinpot. I don't need a CEO to take to social media to explain what's usually obvious or give oxygen to the crazies.
