Not sure why anything that was said means he’s finished. He seems to be making progress, and the club says he’s close to full training, which only puts him a couple of weeks behind the rest fitness wise. Whether he gets his form and confidence back, and whether it affects his ability to play at the top level once fully fit, no one on here can possibly know at this point. So to say he’s done strikes me as being negative for no reason. Im proud to support a club that takes this kind of approach, taking care of a player who was injured on our watch. It is the right thing to do.

He’s not doing full training, but is making progress in that direction. Burrows said as much. He started running on grass just before the end of last season, and is kicking a ball now, so some progress, but after being out for nearly a year and a half it’s going to take time.

Mainly just shots at MFC for not knowing about the injury, or knowing but keeping it secret from “the boy”, and being tinpot because we don’t do comprehensive medicals at the end of every season. They definitely don’t know who he is and aren’t bothered in the slightest that they didn’t sign him, and are not spending their day being all knowing medical professionals on twitter.

Its going to be near impossible to offer him a new extended contract when he now knows exactly what he could have got elsewhere, and he was a bawhair away from getting it. Pretty sure like most 19 year olds he’d have had that money spent in his head already.

Im happy Celtic released a level headed account of things, but I’m sure their weirdo fans will find ways to read between the lines though. It also seems that most of the in the know folk actually know fuck all. It looks like if this transfer saga hadn’t started, Turnbull would have done pre season and played games with no knowledge of a potential knee problem, but now that something has been seen in the medical it can’t be unseen and we need to do something about it. so it looks like Turnbull may have dodged a bullet, and now just needs preventative work, when it could have been far worse at a later date. He will probably be gutted that the deal didn’t go through, but he’ll get his move soon enough. However, this is a bigger blow to us since there’s no way we sell him for what we wanted, since there’s little or no chance that someone is going to take him in January if he’s only just back from his op, then there’s only a year left and our negotiating position is weaker. kind of shit, but not really anything we can do about it. So let’s hope someone buys Kipre for 15m.

Yep, if you listen to the commentary of the Livingston game backwards it all but confirms this.

A lot of assumptions being made here based on no credible information or quotes from anyone. Particularly since we now know the papers regularly just lift shite off of forums and twitter. If the “medical issue” is going to require an operation or him being out for months, there is no way Celtic take on that risk. Particularly since he won’t be going anywhere any time soon. If it is a relatively small issue then any discussions are probably about structuring the payments/add ons or insurance technicalities. It is also possible that this is all 100% bollocks too.

If he’s injured now, we just wait and sell him when he’s fit. (again, if true) this is a real test of whether the club can stand its ground or not.

If the above is true, and not just the papers printing something they read in a forum, I don’t see why we need to negotiate at this point. There is no rush to sell.

Right now I just want the money so we can all take turns diving into it. Like Hastie, he’s young enough and talented enough to recover from a couple of lucrative years in an OF reserve team if that’s what happens.

I was living in England at the time, so I’m interested to know what the general reception was at the time we signed Shaun McSkimming. He was our record signing at that point, right?

A slightly less dark example of craziness many of us on here (myself included) got caught up in was the Abel Thermeus era of about 3 weeks. I think we had given him the nickname of “the flask” when he was just a trialist, and he quickly attained cult status only to get sent off in his first game (Killie away I think), not to be seen again.

I think a few of us got caught up in the hammerfist hype machine on here for Esteban. That was a bizarre episode.

All the talk of who we’ve signed so far, and who we’ve still to sign got me thinking of the past signings I was way off the mark on one way or the other. Someone who I thought would be terrible - Martyn Corrigan. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t getting a game at Falkirk, so seemed like a backup at the time. It also took me a while to warm to him when he got some games. Someone I thought was going to be awesome for us - Neil Tarrant. He was a free scoring striker for Ross County, and was on loan at Ayr when they roasted us in the Scottish Cup at fir park. He was particularly impressive. So when we signed him from villa I really thought we had got a bargain. Don’t think he played more than a couple of games. I’m guessing that Michael Higdon might feature a lot here, but who could have predicted his huge season?

No chance of shankland. Our remaining signings will come from the “never heard of him, so must be shite ” or the “I’ve heard of him, he’s shite” categories. I think the biggest possible signing would be getting Ariyibi back.

Has the deal been formally completed? The club isn’t going to say a word until that’s done.

Has there been real talk about Hartley or Johnson going?

I don’t think a couple is enough, I’d expect at least 3, but kind we’ve already signed Gallagher, Polworth, Carroll, Hylton, Sloth and Long, and have Semple and Livingstone in the first team squad. I can see another striker coming in, and definitely another winger, and hopefully more midfield cover, but we’re not replacing Turnbull, those kind of players cost 3million plus :-) I think we’re perpetually linked with lafferty. I don’t like him but you’d be kidding yourself if you think he wouldn’t be a good signing, especially in our system.

If I was writing this, that’s exactly what I’d do. Classic cliffhanger for a second series. Netflix should be all over this. I also fully expect to wake up tomorrow to find out that Turnbull never played for us in the first place.
