  1. It’s a free go, goal difference doesn’t even matter anymore, and there is no reason to rest or hold back anyone, so let’s have a go. However, it is Celtic away, and deciding to have a go doesn’t automatically mean we’ll suddenly terrorize them on the wings and make chance after chance just because we decided to, since Celtic will also have a say. I’m hoping we can keep it tight early on and get the ball to the wingers, and it will be interesting to see how Gorrin and Turnbull do, but this is the game where we’ll need Main to take the one chance he gets.
  2. Explains why he spent half the game rubbing the ball on his crotch.
  3. Went for Aldred. He’s been really good all season and is definitely a player of the year candidate.
  4. Think most of us would agree that a point would have been fair, and we rode our luck a little before we scored, but these wee bits of luck eluded us in the first half of the season, and it seemed that every mistake lead to us conceeding, so maybe things are evening out after all. i didn’t think hearts were that good, and after all the hype about their set pieces, they produced nothing. Aldred and Dunne were excellent again, and I thought Tait and grimmy had a good game overall. we did lose the midfield battle for a lot of the game, but hearts did nothing with it. McHugh came on at the right time and had a really good 30 minutes, Gorrin was good but was again hampered by his booking. Turnbull is just great to watch. Even though hearts were pressing and hitting hard, he’d make one small move and end up in acres of space. Watching him and Campbell combine is fun. Hastie just continues to take liberties with the opposition, and is full of confidence. Main did the thing that main does, and I thought he did a good job against the “big lumps” at the back for hearts. Should we keep the same XI against Celtic? Or are some due a rest? ;-)
  5. Might have got lost in the shuffle but it was mentioned that we’re trying to get Cadden signed too. haven't heard anything about livingstone, things seem to be quiet about him.
  6. James Scott signed until 2022, nice. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2019/02/15/james-scott-signs-contract-extension/
  7. 17 years since Fererre day, where he made his debut coming on as a sub against hibs, cracks the bar with a 100 yard free kick, then scores the same goal three times. Apparently he made 9 more appearances for us after this, and I remember all of us to a man thinking we were onto something. Turned out he was shite, just not as shite as hibs. We really need a nostalgia thread.
  8. The only goal I can mind him scoring for us was a nice 1-2 against Aberdeen at home, the same game that Davies and Coyne combined for a cheeky free kick routine. He scored 5 more, but I can’t remember any of them. He did score some screamers for Celtic.
  9. Frear gets plenty of assists, and that’s what we need our wingers to do. He and Ariyibi are different types of player, and both are valuable in different situations. Ideally we need both, but our budget may stand in the way of that. Also, I think a fit Cadden could be considered as the right side of that 3 as well. factors to consider here are - does Frear want to stay? Can we keep Cadden? Does Ariyibi want to stay? If he does, do we have any chance of making that happen?
  10. Looks like they updated the website, it was showing 2020 until today.
  11. Wow, we need to give McCormack more touches and hastie could get the golden boot.
  12. Jeez, forgot all about cadds, I must have just resigned myself to him going this year. I hope we we can get another season from him, he’d essentially take Ariyibi’s place and I think he’d thrive there.
  13. From the list above we know that ATS, Sammon and Newell will be gone. We also now know that Maguire, Scott and Hastie have been offered new deals. Don’t know if he mentioned livingstone. Gorrin and Grimshaw are doing well now, but who knows what their plans are, ideally i’d like them to stay. I like Frear too, but I’d imagine he’ll be after more regular playing time. Mbulu is a backup player, and probably would be next season too, so not sure what we do with him.
  14. For the reserves - most of them.
  15. From the top of my head: Aldred (end of loan) Def - McHugh, Mbulu, Grimshaw, Livingstone, ATS, Maguire Mid - Gorrin, Hastie, Frear, Ariyibi (end of loan) Forward - Main, Newell, Scott, Sammon (end of loan) Or you can check yourself here - https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/squad/first-team/
  16. The only potential I can see for a change is if hastie has any after effects from is injury on Saturday or if anyone else has a knock. With us being off this weekend I don’t think there will be any thought of resting anyone.
  17. I think if we manage to successfully fire someone who’s under contract for not being fit enough that might just open up a can of worms. Part of being in the football business is attracting players to our club, and keeping good ones.
  18. It’s Gillespie’s place to lose. a conundrum we haven’t seen since Woods/Howie
  19. He’s contracted until the end of next season, we’d have to pay him to let him go. I’m sure we’ve also invested a fair bit in his rehab, so unless he had to retire I don’t see why we’d get rid of him.
  20. Gorrin was good, but I’m going with hastie purely for his acceleration for the 3rd, warp speed.
  21. I’ll miss him on commentary when he’s back playing, he’s the best of the bunch when it comes to the color commentary.
