How much money would we lose if kids were just free all the time?
-
Robinson just said the standard stuff, i.e. coming here to compete, adding competition, etc. Haven’t seen the guy, so don’t really have an opinion on him, seems to have a fair few games under his belt at least. We need competition in that area, so hopefully this pushes Livingstone to take his opportunity next season.

2018/19 Game 33: Rangers (H) April 7th 12.30pm Kick Off
fizoxy replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
This defensive play would have us 3-0 down to anyone. We played some good stuff but didn’t make anything of it, and we were playing with a level of confidence at the back that we’ve never earned. So frustrating. -
I’d say that if he’s going off the boil it’s even more reason to sign a big deal somewhere ASAP or the chance may not come round again. The Atlanta one is weird, but it would be a great move for him personally.

Yeah, I expect the outgoing transfer rumors to pick up over the next week, same as always.
-
The sun was probably the reason they chose to switch ends.

Chili D for me! His pace and strength got us out of a couple of scrapes and he and Aldred wee pretty solid.

St Johnstone came to sit in and try and nick something, and if Kane wasn’t shite they might have. However, we persevered and found a way through their banks of five. Says a lot that they were parking the bus, we weren’t firing on all cylinders, but we still strolled it 3-0. I think some folk are failing to grasp how big a deal that is, with all the talk of changes that need to be made. 13 of the 14 players on the park for us today are responsible for the crazy run we’ve been on since the cup game, they all deserve credit. Main was instrumental in two of the goals today, and his hold up play was really good in the second half. I liked how we stuck to our plan and didn’t resort to punting it into the box, which lead to three really well worked goals. The counter attack for Frears almost second was clinical. Dunne strolled the game, and Aldred was Aldred, their partnership allows us to do everything else.

When we were playing wing backs I felt we needed someone on the other side from Tait, preferably on the left. However, we’re now playing a different system with two more traditional full backs, so that could also be a factor in the drop of assists for Tait. Grimshaw is also playing well at right back. Add to this the small concern of who Tait would be assisting, he could put crosses into the box all day, but other than Moult he hasn’t had the benefit of a striker who is capable of heading a cross. Bowman and Main have been two of the worst penalty box strikers I’ve seen in a long time. Any Motherwell player is prone to bad spells, but Tait has played on the left most of this season and is up there for player of the year, so I don’t know if we’re going to find a better left back on our budget.

An interesting discussion would be who out of the current youth ranks should we be offering deals to?

Went for ARG mainly for the crunching tackle that he put in in the first half that had the hibs commentators greetin.

2018/19 Game 30: Hibs (A) March 16th 3pm kick off

I think Johnson is shite. Main is only good if the wingers are firing and scoring goals, but even a team with our resources can find a better “nuisance” than him. Scott was OK when he came on, nothing special, but we have between now and the end of the season to see what we have with him, so I think we should be starting with him going forward. -

Didn’t notice any sitters, but we made a couple of chances there near the end, and Aldred did more in his 2 minute spell up front than Main did all game. Hibs looked quicker across the board, and our wingers barely troubled them. I don’t think anyone was particularly poor today, and we looked composed and determined to play the ball on the ground, but didn’t have anything close to a cutting edge. -
Aldred and Turnbull

Grimshaw signs for another year.

2018/19 Game 30: Hibs (A) March 16th 3pm kick off

It’s hard to rule anything out considering the run we’ve been on. Winning far from guarantees us top six, but I think anything less than 3 points all but ends our chances due to our goal difference. We have the slight advantage of a settled team, and two of the in form players in the league, but we always struggle at Easter road so it will be a hard one. 4-0 us. -
2018/19 Game 29: Hamilton (H) March 9th 3pm kick-off

That was pretty easy, and could have been a lot more if we were sharper on the counter attack. They had their spell but did nothing outside of long range efforts. Dont think there were any bad performances in there, but the midfield three were dominant in the first half, with Campbell being solid for the whole game. -
Surprisingly only for 1 year.
-
It would be a shame if we lost him, but as is echoed above, you can’t force people to sign contracts and our approach worked with Turnbull and Scott. I assume that if we lose him for a development fee there’s no scope for negotiating a sell on?
-
Decent point. Neither team were very good, but I thought Killie looked more organized in attack carving out some decent chances, where we got most of our joy from counter attacks. The midfield 3 did a great job, but the wingers weren’t an outlet today, as Killie doubled up on them. Main was poor, and didn’t even do a job of keeping the Killie defense occupied. The pitch played terribly, and combined with the overhead conditions made for a scrappy game, but not the worst to watch.
-
ARG for me. He showed his battling qualities a bit more today and was calm on the ball. Really like the partnership he’s building with Turnbull and Campbell.
-
James Scott for the banter.
-
I fear for his career/health in general, he’s had multiple serious concussions and he’s clearly susceptible to them.

2018/19 Game 27: Celtic (A) Sunday 24th February 3.00pm Kick Off

The follow up and finish by Ariyibi isn’t getting the credit it deserves, it has been overshadowed by the seethe. Oh, and while clutching their pearls the Celtic fans saw fit to cheer the stretcher coming of for McHugh. -

Christie got injured and went off the side of the park, their player played it out for a throw, we threw it back to them but James Scott ran onto it and forced the keeper into a save then Ariyibi ran onto the rebound and scored.
