In some cases, signing players who have had injury issues can be a way for us to get some value that we couldn't get otherwise. We can offer a path to career resurrection and get someone we might not afford normally. Now, that only works if they stop getting injuried, and anyone who has even the most basic knowledge of doing things that require working legs knows that recurring hamstring injuries are a big red flag.

He knows his worth and will hold out until someone meets that number. With him being a free agent he will be able to take his pick of clubs that need a striker panicking after the window shuts, so he should be in no rush. Also, who knows that we didn't approach him? Fletcher is one striker most of us know is available, so its natural theres chat about him, the same goes for the constant talk about signing ex players, but there's plenty of others out there. Also, previous salary is a significant indicator of future salary and always has been. It's not guaranteed, but the idea that "anything is more than the nothing they're getting paid now" just doesn't track, people should know what theyre worth and do what they can to realize that.

The game won't be easy in the eye, but it's on a Saturday at 3 and viaplay isnt there to screw up my viewing, so wooo. Hopefully we have a full squad sans Butcher and Mr hamstring,

Fletcher can wait until after the window closes for someone to throw money at him in a panic. Hopefully it's not us. I dont mind him, but I do mind how much he will cost. Also, I'm sure he looks after himself but we really need to bring in folk that have had a decent pre season and can play 90 mins from day 1. Wing backs are key. That's where we can add some pace to the side. We are missing Butcher, but I think we're missing pace more. Choosing an out of position mcginn over McGinley tells us everything we already knew there, he really needs to be gone.

I'd say it would be amateur hour if we spent all of our money on one player then just prayed he doesn't get injured, suspended or lose form.

First loss in 13 and the sky is falling. We lost a tricky tie, which is shite, but I don't think we need to lose our collective shit about it. We are going to lose a bunch of games this year, and we're also going to win our fair share. Might even have some draws as well.

With the height and physicality we have in the team we do a very poor job at leveraging that for set pieces.
-
And we also don't have enough of a fan base to attract some rich weirdo to buy us.
-
St Mirren had a big crowd too, we don't have the divine right to win a game. I feel like we could have went for it a bit earlier, as we weren't making chances, and I think they only had to make one save, so that's disappointing. Especially since we have been good for at least a goal in every game recently.

Kettlewell said in his last interview that we were advised to limit his minutes initially, and in his own words "we are clear of that now." So the papers picking up on half of the sentence. He's coming back from injury and missed a chunk of pre season, we will be building him up to start soon enough.

First loss in 13, first game we haven't scored under SK, and first away loss under him. I think he has to go now and take the whole team with him 😀 Sounded like a proper cup game at least

Must be, not in squad. McGinley must definitely be on the way out if they want sod there (I assume) in front of him. Can't see Blaney at wing back. Biereth isn't fit yet, so I'd prefer he came on for the last 40 than getting hooked at half time.

He was rated by Alexander, and was doing pretty well in his system (for wuat its worth) before he got injured. Then we started wanting midfielders to play football again, so there was no place for him once he got back. He is also injured a lot. Oh, he is also two footed. I agree that we offered some weird extensions under GA, which seemed to be more about who did the dirty work that GA wanted, instead of how good they were.

Does having the manager on a contract give us any leverage? They usually just quit then rock up to their next job anyway.
-
We were solid and deserved our win. We made hibs look ordinary and didn't give their attack a look in, even with Doidge throwing elbows around like prime Dusty Rhodes. That midfield three is just excellent, they never stopped and you can see things beginning to click with the inter play. Mika looks to have replaced KVV in the "just put the ball in his general vicinity and he can do the rest" stakes.

Yep, the more I look back at the appointment the worse it gets. Those two signings were definitely up there though, particularly because he openly said we didn't expect Moult to start often.

We tried but there's a potential issue with them loaning out too many players internationally. Maybe something that could happen closer to the deadline.
-
I didn't think he was particularly bad. It did seem that our attacking play was mainly down the right though. Fair play to him for busting his ass to get forward for the goal, opening up the space for Bair. I'd still be very surprised if we don't sign another wing back to at least give us some competition there.
-
Regardless of the laws I think we can all agree that it was very silly, and I can't believe Bevis didn't stop him from doing it.
-
We also need to sign players who will never leave, unless they play shite, and as such should then tear up their contract.
-
I make a point of not rating a team based on what they do against Hibs.
-
I have to assume that it was checked, because it was so blatant. His brain switched off a couple of times yesterday.

Went for "contract year" Slattery. All three midfielders had decent games, but I thought he influenced things a bit more. I'm enjoying Miller while we have him, he's a very tidy player. I didn't think anyone was particularly bad, but it does look like Casey is going to be afforded more mistakes than some others in our lineup. Hopefully a couple more games gets him back up to full speed. As with the rest of the lineup, there's no lack of effort there. Hopefully Biereth has some pace, as we have plenty of work rate up front, but we still need a cutting edge.
