Going from our development squad to one in England, which will have so much moire resources behind it, and getting paid a fair bit more for the trouble seems like a no brainier. Surely if you're good enough you'll make it through the ranks?
-
I'll be right back, just getting some popcorn.
-
He'll be a too old and inexperienced former Motherwell player who is not the WWE wrestler we were looking for.
-
We should all go on holiday too.
-
Is this a new thing? The majority of players a premiership club would be looking at will be pretty sure that they'll be getting paid in a couple of weeks when they sign for whoever. Negotiations also take time, so I'm sure these all go on while the guys are on holiday, then it's a case of signing the contract with whoever on their return. Making a decision that affects the next couple of years, or maybe a whole career, based on not wanting to go without pay for a couple of weeks would be silly.

My guess is that we'd be happy to have the wage off our books and a fee won't be the deal breaker. I like ainsworth but he is probably getting paid too much for his limited role, and we have Dom Thomas ready to play a bigger part this year.
-
You have to pay players when you punt them, contracts work both ways, they don't leave money on the table and they shouldn't. If we take the approach of signing everyone on long term deals on the off chance that they become a saleable asset, and paying them off if they don't, the club will be finished before the deals are up.
-
And if we sign Moore on a three year deal and he ends up shite, what do we do?
-
I'm sure the club is well aware of when contracts have to be offered. These are just the first three to accept, there will be other factors in when people sign such as holidays and negotiations. If anyone is signing the first offer put to them either we're idiots or they are.

Not surprised by any of them, not much to read into with this at this point, I'd expect the less sexy business to be done early.

Much of the transfer value is determined by how much the player has left in their contract, what they are getting paid, and the cost of development, i.e. Compensation. The value can be driven up if the player is in demand, so clubs have to bid against each other. Selling guys with a year left on their deal to the only club that wants them isn't going to generate millions. Other clubs aren't out there to do us a favour, if they are low-balling us we can always reject it, but there's more to it than that. Also, clubs dont just rely the well society q&a on periscope or quotes in the sun to know our situation, clubs do their homework.

I have always disliked both sides of the OF but have tended to dislike rangers that bit more (to eleven). It may just be personal experience, but their worst seems to come across as more vile as celtic's, and they have always seemed to have the media in their pocket.

According to the man himself he signed in '81 and left in 1992 (he was frozen out for almost a year but still with the club)

From Scott Mullen (herald) on Twitter - "Motherwell update for fans. Club are getting closer to re-signing three players out of contract. Expecting to seal deals next week" Then goes on to say it is a mix of u20s and senior. I am sure hammel and lasley will be two of them.

Is not the new Celtic manager. Phew.

He was no better than we had at the time, and no better than we have now. He's decent and I hope he does well, but just like lawless I wouldn't consider him as "one that got away". On this subject, who have we released as a youngster who has legitimately went on to bigger things?
-
Did they need to fill a specific amount of space and thus chose a top 12? I would have come up with a smaller number in a list of goalkeepers in Scotland who's names I know.
-
When your career can be over in your thirties, you make what you can. Loyalty works two ways, would a club keep a player when they turn out to be shite? Also, ambition is about more than just money.
-
We can quantify the benefits of finishing 4th (approx $200k) but do we have any evidence that "blooding" youngsters over a handful of end of season games does anything? If a player isn't ready, will giving him games at a much higher level magically make him better? In addition to this, are we assuming that the players who got us to 4th are happy to step aside to give the boys a game and forego any bonuses they will get for winning any of the next 5 games? Cadden, Hall and Kennedy (do we count Laing?) all got into the team by working for it and earning it. They have all said that they were told by the manager what they needed to do to improve, and they did it and got their reward. There is also the benefits of being talked through the game by the old heads, so we need to keep a balance.

Really worrying that he's scored almost 40 goals and no one from any team has chosen to mark him yet. Hopefully no one marks our strikers, or we will be fucked.
