  1. It's the other way round, to break even they need to spend no more than what they take in. It seems that our problems tend to be more to do with cash flow at certain times of year. There are a number of big contracts expiring this year, which is a good opportunity to restructure our playing budget. We should be spending like a club that has 3000 regular home fans, and if that means we end up a championship team or lower then so be it. Unless someone wants to pour money into the club for the sake of it, this is reality. The well society is supposed to raise funds to provide a buffer for when the need arises, but the club also has a responsibility to budget properly.
  2. Maybe a chance to see another youth prospect in the first team? Or possibly law in the center again. If McDonald is out I can see either Thomas or McFadden take that spot alongside moult and Marvin, I'd guess Thomas. The pressure is on Aberdeen here, we're all but safe and they absolutely need to win.
  3. It's hard to tell when they all wear the same colour shorts. Wasn't even the foul that I meant to post, and can't find it now. This one is a red 9 times out of 10.
  4. The move for the second goal was really nice, about ten passes starting from our right back position. Johnson had one of his better games, and it's great seeing the energy from Cadden an moult. Oh, and here is Paton taking cadds to suplex city https://vine.co/v/iHFIHA9WIVP/embed
  5. Going by the Twitter commentary he's a forward.
  6. Dom Thomas set up all three goals today in the semi.
  7. He had a good game that one time
  8. Eddie may was converted from something to right back too. Not sure what it was.

    Late Winners

    Partial to this one myself
  10. Is Ripley just really bad at long range shots, or has he been unlucky? He seems to have conceded a few of them.
  11. Motherwell: Ripley, Laing, McManus, Johnson, Lasley, Gomis, Moult, McFadden, Cadden, Hall, McDonald #SJFCvMFC Motherwell subs: Samson, Hammell, Ainsworth, Pearson, Fletcher, Law, Leitch #SJFCvMFC
  12. People work their way up through organizations all the time, no big deal. He also did have jobs before he joined MFC.
  13. i see the two fullbacks coming back in,and moult dropping to the bench for McFadden.

    The Players

This is probably the only way of accommodating lasley and gomis, and probably as "balanced" as it is going to get.
  15. Nothing unusual for players to be vocal in the dressing room, or even showing dissent. Only ever gets mentioned when a team is losing. Total non story.
  16. Whatever happens, this summer gives us a real chance to rebuild, with the higher paid guys like mick, lasley, hammell, and McDonald all out of contract.
  17. I was hoping we'd be interested in him, mainly due to seeing his name on the scoresheet almost every week. Just like I hoped we'd sign Derek Adams and Neil Tarrant, but I'm confident about this one
  18. Do other club's supporters obsess over their administrative staff as much as ours do? If AB left, would we have a thread discussing his replacement? The owner and the board decide where the money goes, the GM does what the board tells him. As far as direction, we've had a pretty decent time of it post-administration with a decent few cup runs, league finishes, and European games. There have been some dips in there, but we are currently in a worse lull than the Malpas season, and we are getting by on other teams being worse right now. Employing an unknown quantity after McCall was the wrong decision, and his signing policy has set us back a few years. We are going to see another large turnover of players in the summer, and I'll admit that I'm not too keen on McGhee being the guy to recruit our next squad based on his record with signings.
  19. Sure the club said the other deals depended on other things falling into place, so probably meant the other club had to sign someone first (like hearts did with cowie before we got gomis). So those deals will be dead, and we have moved on to free agents.
  20. singling out a player in front of the media is a poor show. However, what happened in the dressing room is a total non story. That sort of stuff happens all the time at every level of every sport.
  21. I can see the three centre mids happening, with ainsworth and Marvin on the wings and skippy up front alone.
  22. last year's window was fun, but was essentially an exercise in throwing shit against the wall. The summer wasn't much different. The best thing we did in the last few weeks was to move on the ones that didn't stick, allowing us to add a player better than what we had and possibly one more. We've been playing relatively well since McGhee took over, so the last thing we needed was another invasion, especially with wholesale changes pending in the summer.
