Great result and well done to McGhee and the team. A happy christmas!!!!

We struggled to get home from Inverurie to Banchory after the game as it was a blizzard. My wife came and picked us up and it took almost 2 hours for a 30min drive. Freezing cold at the game but was able to have a few drinks in the ground watching the game amongst the Inverurie fans. They don't make football like that anymore!!!

Not sure this is in the right place. Just been looking through the Daily Record's 50 top Scottish young players and we only have Dom Thomas (top 10 not yet published) and he is in the high thirties. Cant see anyone making the top 10. This is very worrying to my mind and re-enforces the need to get our youth system functioning again. I know this is Les's ambition and may take a few years but is evidence of the absence of a youth policy under recent management teams.

Fancied a game up here but hey ho happy with this. Cove good team though unbeaten this season.

Saturday was the first home game for a while and I was really up for it. I left absolutely deflated and frustrated. We had much of the ball but did not seem to be able to deliver a penetrating forward pass. Everything was either square or backwards. So many times Chalmers and Grimshaw got the ball and then turned back and passed the ball ball to central defenders. This lost all forward momentum. Now whether that was good defending from ICT or lack of confidence or the new keep the ball philosophy (or a combination of all three) i am not sure but it is not working.Only when we took of one of the wingers did we start to look like a team ready to go forward. Disappointing but not terminal but manager needs to work on a new shape.

I listened to this game on World Service in my bed when I was working in Burma (now Myanmar). Kept fading in and out and when Kirky scored it had just faded back in and my cheers woke everybody up in the staff house. Got up for a few whiskies to celebrate!!!

So you don't think McCall's last season and his "oh poor me I can't sleep" performances were to do with him getting the Rankers job? He had this set up for months. I think he wanted club to sack him and they would not do it. I think this was as much whoring than McGhee.

I remember the Texaco cup games against Stoke and Spurs in 70/71? great games and fantastic atmosphere. Gutted to loose to Hearts in the semis after ref played about 25 minutes injury time!!! I also remember a game against Celtic in in the 70's when we were 2-0 down and Pettigrew tore them apart in second half to win 3-2(or am I just dreaming that one). 1991 cup final was great and very emotional.As was seeing team in Katowice after travelling all the way over from Yemen where I was working. Beating Aberdeen at any time.

Whilst I thought Steve McGarry was one of the worst players Motherwell have ever had (I know many have different opinions) I now see Josh Law as up there competing for this honour. How the phuque he gets a game defies belief, surely we have someone else in the club who can do the basics of defending. Maybe he needs a week in Austria ( and we leave him behind!!!)

Guys McGhee had probably been away from his family for at least 2 weeks with Scotland and I am sure this was a stressful time. I have absolutely no problem in him taking time out to get his head squared up prior to starting a new job (haven't we all done this?). Giving the players another break after the International break does seem a bit strange but maybe they will digest what McGhee has said and come back with better attitude. Time will tell.

Lasley has been taking his coaching badges. Would he not be a good fit as he is close to needing to hang his boots up.

A genuine question here but where do you think we would be without Les? I know that a number of guys were approached to put in place loans secured against the stand to allow us to survive in the short term. Les took that away and has given us breathing space. I don't quite understand the criticism he gets.

happy with McGhee. We will be fitter and better organised (not hard though). Hopefully he realises this is where he can best perform and sees this as his last job, he can also develop a succession plan around Craggs/Las/Leitch. Also if he can turn Steve McGarry into a passable player he can turn Taylor into a world beater ( )

I kind off see what people mean by uninspiring names but when Aberdeen appointed Mcinnes he had stalled in his career and has done not to bad a job at Shitoddrie (albeit well backed financially) a lot of sheep fans were upset by the appointment sat the time and were saying it was a cheap option. Also look at Ross County they got Jim Mcintyre who was not what you call inspiring but look what he has achieved. If McCall's name had been mentioned prior to him joining I would have said thats underwhelming but he did achieve decent success. McGhee was pumped by a few teams prior to joining us too and that was a risk. I guess we will just have to hope the board make the right choice and he fits in well (pun intended).

we could break new ground and have a 4 man player manager combo (Lasley/McManus/Hammell/McDonald). They seem to call the shots!!!
