bogsideloyal- we are both agreed that youth development is way forward. However let me try to show an example how a small team league leads to short termism. Look at fuckface liar Brown at Aberdeen. Before he joined Miller/Mcghee were saying youth is the way ahead. What happens when they get into relegation trouble Brown reaches for the phone and gets David Macnamee, umpteen journey men from Leagues 1&2 and some foreign dickhead called Vudcovik(or something). What benefits does this bring except survival? Young players who were being hyped are now not even getting a game.This would have been worse were we in a 10 team league.

I saw Calderwood at Hibs was trying to get Stephen Hughes back as Lambert was wanting to loan him out to get fit. Might be worth a pint for the rest of the season.

I have looked at the bigger picture and it does not work. We have tried the 10 team spl and it failed!!!! There was a reason for its failure - too many poor games where teams tried to avoid defeat and relegation. We buy/loan foreign/lower english league players on short term deals and money is pissed away out the club and spiral downwards continues. Now here is my take. If you take the pressure of mangers to avoid relegation (i.e bigger league) they try to play more attractive football (and therefore attractive to fans). Teams may have more chance to win the league.They are not afraid to paly younger players and therefore these guys get a chance to develop and then become more saleable hence bringing money into the clubs again. Clubs start to invest in youth development. My way is a long term solution admittedly but is IMHO better than the short term option being promoted by SKY/OF/Doncaster which "might" increase revenues in the near term but when Sky get fed up of broadcasting crap 0-0 games at empty stadiums the games a bogey anyway.

Miller is well ot of the picture at Boro, might be an option for a loan.

10-2 is required when changing league format 11-1 is required when Commercial arrangement are changed

midweek games attract far less fans so there will be very little benefit gained. Ross v Livingston on a Wednesday wont attract many.

But this does not answer my question why if it did not work before will it work now? Everyone from TV/Fans/Managers/players and chairmen all said at the time change was needed because it was not working. What's new?

why is 10 team SPL better now when it was said to be detrimental to Scottish football last time it was tried? Has this ever been explained or are they just ignoring the fact that attendances were falling and we had very few young Scots in our teams. What will the difference be apart from as couple of play off games?

Previously I had tried to stay optimistic about the state of the game and the Well in particular. There was an earlier thread where everyone was saying they would not be back. Well relucatantly I am now joining that crew. Given the way the fans have been treated over the 10 team SPL and the poor "entertainment" on offer at such high prices I will not be spending any more time travelling up and down from Aberdeen. I have bought tickets for the semi but even attending that is a big doubt. Never felt so downbeat and disenfranchised in my time of following football. It seems to be a case of the clubs saying gives us your money and shut the fuck up we know best. Well I hope JB and his 11 other chairmen do and can pull a rabbit out of the hat and save the game but as they say in Dragon's Den - "I'm out".

Aw FFS what a diabolical disgrace. They ignore the fan who attends the games at their peril. They argue that this is what the TV companies want but what happens next time at renewal when Sky/ESPN say here is our new offer which is 25% less because the product is crap as their are no fans/atmosphere in the stadium(happenned in Italy I believe)? I had thought there were some sensible chairmen out there who were listening to the fans but as ever they have obviously been bought off by a few more crumbs from the Sky/ESPN/Old Firm table.
