Between Jennings and Higdon for me but in the end. gave my vote to the big baldy! Put in a power of work and fought for everything. Some nice passes and flick ons, just a shame nobody was moving off him with any effectiveness.

I remember I saw Ian Wright on TV once talking aloud. From then on I thought he was a twat.

Can only echo what's already been said really. Gutted we ended up losing but didn't do enough with the ball. In saying that, if both teams continue to perform the way they both did today, we'll see ourselves back above Celtic again this season. Are their fans really happy to come away to clubs with a 10th of their budget and play the "long diagonal ball" game? Celtic? Self-professed champions of beautiful football? They were mince and it makes it that bit worse to lose when they were so devoid of ideas for 80 minutes.

Unless I'm mistaken I think McMillan went to Wigan, same as McCulloch.

The Scotland on Sunday only ever takes note of football long enough to big up the Edinburgh clubs before it heads back to egg chasing. Their match reports involving the Edinburgh clubs are ridiculously one sided. To be fair, it was a foul throw but how often do you see them given? That may have disallowed that goal, but the way we were playing we'd have made the breakthrough at another time. Hibs were lucky to get away with only one conceded, and they have Graham Stack to thank for that.

Nah, don't think they did anything. I certainly didn't hear anything. Jennings was well up for the game today, back to his usual self.

Just back in from the game... Good performance, absolutely dominated in the first half without really making it count. They came into it more in the 2nd but never really looked like doing anything. Stroll in the park really to be honest. Jennings was everywhere in the first half, really put his last couple of weeks behind him and Higdon was unlucky not to have a hat trick. It said it all that Hibs gave their MoM to their goalie, the only player anyone could pick out as having made a positive contribution for them. What a mess at the turnstiles on the way in though. Game advertised as pay at the gate but when we get there, there's a huge queue at the ticket office as everyone has to first buy a ticket from a solitary window and then go through the turnstile. What? Steward on the way in said they'd been advised at the briefing they were only expecting 50-odd Well fans. To their credit, once Hibs found out what was going on, they opened a turnstile as well and they did let the drum in, which is something. Bit of a farce though. Still, good 3 points, consolidated 2nd place and a rare headed goal from Murphy!

It could just be Regan choosing his words carefully...i.e. "He's not been banned, just suspended indefinitely." Wouldn't put it past him.

Exactly. The SFA's behaviour is outrageous. Bit of perspective needed. Surely any player being charged with any sort of illegal activity is bringing the game into disrepute? Just another example of the SFA's complete lack of consistency.

Come on now Eddie, don't hold back. Say what you really mean!

Which is the correct figure though? That report says prior to the match and £500 but it also says Jennings was arrested in Merseyside. Everywhere else reports Glasgow. Not saying the figures etc. aren't correct but given they can't actually agree where he was picked up I'd take any "reports" with a pinch of salt.

See, I'd tend to disagree there. He didn't win the ball at all. Clancy was bulldozed off the ball by a combination of the keeper grabbing his leg and the defender pushing him over. Only then did the keeper reach out and grab the ball. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter though. It's good when these decisions can go against you and still take the points.
-
Yeah, just watched them too and came to the same conclusions. 2nd incident was a stonewall penalty.
-
It's the same for Higdon as well though. You can see he's not a long ball type player but he's being asked to play that role. He's not John Sutton and we won't get the best out of him until we stop using him like Sutton.
-
I thought Humphrey did alright. He had the beating of the left-back, trouble was that every time he got past he was hauled back, tripped or kicked and the referee and linesman did nothing about it. Can't blame the guy for losing heart.
-
Hammell. Solid all game and put in some brilliant last ditch tackles down the left. Brilliant from McHugh when he came on. He seems to have really built up some strength and it would be good to see him get a couple of games, see how he gets on. Well done to Clancy also who recovered well from Tuesday's (and Saturday's) horror show to put in a good performance.
-
Not the best performance from the guy today but I think it was more to do with the fact that he was up against a big, strong centre-back who clearly had his number and was Aberdeen's best player by a mile. You can't expect a guy to completely change his style of play at the drop of a ball because the player he's up against has him sussed.

Great post David. Same situation where I sit in the Cooper. Some of our so called fans would seem to prefer we lump the ball back to front every time rather than try and retain possession. I've been observing for a while the parallels between the way McCall's trying to set us up and the way Gannon did it, with trying to play the ball out from the back and retain possession. The plus side is that McCall won't drop players for taking route 1 when required. If these idiots are this pissed off in a period of time when the team's doing well and we as fans are relatively spoiled, imagine how they'll be when the chips are down? Mass suicides?

But of those 1000's of pairs of eyes, how many can honestly say they look at tactics and performances in an objective manner and can distinguish between dodgy tactics and good tactics undone by bad luck? I don't know what's going on behind the scenes with the likes of Page but it's possible McCall doesn't rate him that much and would rather play Clancy ahead of him. Most of Fir Park have only seen him in spells here and there so can't really judge if he could step in and do a job. Remember as well that we're without 2 defenders (Hutch and Saunders) who, were either fit, would walk straight into our defence right now. I get frustrated as well with the lack of changes but McCall's obviously got his reasons for it. I think our main problems at the moment are the fact that with Clancy coming into the team, our defence is essentially back to having to build a new partnership and Jennings, who should be protecting them, isn't up to his usual game at the moment. Personally, I'd like to see Forbes given a chance for a while. He's done well the last couple of times he's had a chance and some time off could possibly see Jennings rejuvenated. We're playing decent stuff though (Saturday aside) and last night we played some excellent football against a side who at least in an attacking sense, are much better than their league position suggests. O'Connor and Griffiths are quality players and on last night's form, would trouble any defence in the league. Play like that against Aberdeen and we'll get back to winning ways.

Bad day at the office all-round. Too many poor performances, which unfortunately resulted in the entire team being unable to make anything work. It summed it all up for me that Murphy was having to coming back to the half-way line to get a touch. Not singling him out, but I also thought today was the worst performance I've ever seen from Jennings. Too many times a player would have to drop back to collect the ball, turn and be looking for a pass to find no-one beyond a defender. None of the players were moving enough to try and take a player out the game or open up for a pass. It was a case of dropping back for the ball and still having a man to beat every time. Hopefully much improved for the Hibs game.

Nicky Law - the only player looking to get on the ball at every opportunity and make something happen. Okay, not a lot came off for him today but a lot of that was due to the fact that most of the time he was left with no option but to try and take on 2-3 players at once. Tried to be positive at least.

St Johnstone haven't conceded away from home yet, although Celtic aside, I think that speaks more to the quality of the opposition rather than their performances. I think we'll win this one and by a few goals. I'm going for a bounce back, 3-0 win.
-
We're perfectly capable of beating them provided everything falls into place. We did it in February when they thought they just had to turn up to collect the points. Not saying it's easy or even odds-on, but it's always possible. I'd much rather be playing Celtic than Rangers though.
-
I'm happy enough with the Clancy signing. He's a versatile player, with decent SPL experience and should provide some useful cover for our defence. Plenty of people were crying out for more experienced cover so we're not relying on the youngsters to step up. Now that we've got it, people are complaining that we're not giving the youngsters a chance? Okay, it's not a flashy signing, but he can do a job in the SPL, we needed the cover, and it's for a year, so there's no long term tie. What's the issue?

What a win!!!! Last minute winner, brilliant! I wish the BBC would learn that it's HUMPHREY.....Not Humphries.... Otherwise, brilliant!
