Absolutely fantastic. Loved the bit discussing Bob McHugh's chant from the east stand!

Got the scarves up in the windows in Edinburgh. Anyone on the London mainline will get an eyeful of claret & amber on their way into Waverley!

Work finished, let the weekend begin! C'mon Well, let's get intae this shite! In the immortal words of Jocky Scott: "Thundercats, HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I've been really busy at work this week and not been thinking about it too much but today I am absolutely buzzing, totally unable to focus and can't wait for the next 3 hours to fly by until I can head home. Where else but football can you get this much apprehension about 90 minutes over which you have no control?!

What possible reason could there be to complain about somebody flying the flag of their team in the leadup to the biggest game in 20 years? Mental

I was walking from Meadowbank to Leith via Lochend and saw it pulling out of a street in Lochend just before Leith Links. Brilliant stuff!

I have no idea if it was 'Well related or not but while walking into work this morning in Edinburgh, I passed a Ford Transit that was amber in colour and had a claret hoop all the way around it! I think I've just seen my dream vehicle!

I kind of agree with this, although I think Hutch is much better playing alongside Craigan as he has the benefit of an experienced pro talking him through the game. Would be happy with either Gunny or Hutch alongside Craigan to be honest. Same team as Shaka for me, I think. Maybe with Ross at right-back instead of Saunders. Both can be suspect defensively so it's a bit of a toss-up as to who gets the nod. Depends who's showing a bit more this week in training I guess. I think Sutton up top with Murphy and Humphrey wide is the way to go though.

The town looks absolutely fantastic, unfortunately living in Edinburgh, I'm missing out on all the build-up! Still got my scarf showing in the car though!

Fine by me, as long as we turn them over in the rematch and lift the cup!

Why do I get the feeling I've seen you post the exact same post before? We played well in the first half although faded out of it for spells in the second. I can see what you mean as there was some nice passing going on, just not an awful lot in the way of forward movement. I thought Hateley played reasonably well although did tend to lose the ball a lot (although a fair few times it was because it was zipped to him under pressure and he couldn't control it/didn't get a "man on!"). I did think that Craigan had a good game tonight. Despite what some say about him, I'm much more confident when we have Craigan in the defence with Hutch/Gunny than the combo of the 2 youngsters. I just think they need the experience to help talk them through the game. Jeffers made some absolutely superb runs off the ball. On another day and with a little more urgency he'd have been found with a number of passes and caused all sorts of problems. Hope he stays fit for the final as I think he'll be a huge asset for it.

Craggs for me. Showed more commitment today than any of the rest, covered his defensive partners well and even made it past the halfway line (without it being a set piece)!
-
Wouldn't be surprised if we see a bit more attitude tonight than the last couple of games. I think we'll see a pretty normal team tonight, with players being rested for Sunday instead to give a rest as well as to not "show our hand" for the final. I think it'll be: Randolph Hateley - Hutchinson - Craigan - Hammell Humphrey - Jennings - Lasley - Murphy Sutton - Jeffers Provided Jeffers, Hammell and Humphrey are fit, otherwise I could see Gunning in at left back and/or Murphy being punted forward with a midfield reshuffle. Last home game of the season so fingers crossed we'll put a performance in. Anything along the lines of last season's closing home fixture would be great (although could do without the defensive performance). Reasonably close game, 1-1 or maybe a 2-1 win for the good guys.

Whether or not a bonus was agreed, with almost any company, if you walk out before an agreed bonus period, you forgo your stake. I'm due a bonus in June and if I were to leave now, despite having already met the targets, there's absolutely no way in hell I would be getting it. You can't claim not to have a contract to get out of employment, then come back asking for "agreed bonuses". It doesn't work both ways. If we get hit over this, the first recourse should be chasing Aberdeen for compensation.

I'm pretty sure he's mentioned it before with the main gripe being that it's hard to pay attention to reading the thread... On the Mo Ross note, a bunch of us met him heading back into town after the semi final and he came across extremely well. Took the time to stop and chat to us (was with his mum and wife/girlfriend at the time) and was very honest about the game and his hopes for himself and the team. I'd like to see him sign a new deal as we could do with an experienced right back in the squad (and another experienced player in general).

Most will go for Sutton I reckon, with his 2 superb goals....however, I reckon the main threat throughout was Jamie Murphy. Absolutely superb today and looks like a player brimming with confidence. Was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet today (or at least directly influence it). The main man for me though, with his running, touch and overall movement...ripped Hearts a new one today. Special mention to my hetero man crush, John Sutton though and also Steve Jones for a cracking second half. Anybody else see that Chris Humphrey was sitting in the stand with the fans? Whit a boy!

Saunders had an absolute howler today but McCall did the right thing and replaced him at the right time. From what I saw of the penalty, it looked like one of those that is technically a foul but 99 times out of 100 would not be given. If that's given then there should be 5 penalties per game....mind you that is with C&A beer goggles on so I'll happily concede if wrong... Either way, fantastic comeback in the second half and it looked like the longer we played, the more we'd score. John Sutton is my hero...and Murphy was different class today! Jonsson was lucky to stay on the park after taking Murphy out from behind...he should be thanking that useless arsehole of a ref for that!
-
There wasn't a lot else he could do about it...Corrigan fairly fizzed it towards goal! A real shame as it was a great season for both players.

Dundee Barry eat your heart out

Not at all, although I'm sure he's said on multiple occasions that he's not really that interested in getting into management? Whatever he decides to do, he's been an excellent servant and captain to the club and deserves the best wishes of every Well fan. He may not be the most skilful player but he's an intelligent player who reads the game well and a great example to younger players (i.e. Reynolds and Hutch). I saw that too and Sutton was my first thought. Hopefully we can do the business on the pitch over the next few weeks and convince him to stay.

Agreed. I'd go for: Randolph Ross - Craigan/Gunning - Hutchinson - Hammell Humphrey - Lasley - Jennings - Murphy Sutton - Jeffers Ross has a decent amount of big game experience and should provide a bit of composure (plus as I hear, he's never lost at Hampden, is that correct?). Not sure whether to go with Craggs or Gunny in there though, don't know enough about St Johnstone's front line to suggest who would be the best option. Whoever we play though, get right at them from the off and don't let them settle. The whirlwind approach has worked well for us lately and if we can get our noses in front, I think we'll be okay. I'm more worried that if we go a goal down, we won't be able to break them down. On the 9:30 train from Edinburgh, should be out to Hampden for the pubs opening at 11!

You'd actually be amazed at the number of large corporations who don't properly utilise Social Media to engage their customers. It's a huge area for development currently but there's a big debate over the actual business value of it. It's certainly extremely good for building consumer confidence but a lot of companies refuse to take it seriously until they can get a tangible financial return. MFC are actually very good at utilising Social Media I reckon, with the match updates on Twitter, all the latest site news being posted on both FB and Twitter. Compared to some of the other clubs in the league, we're streets ahead. I think you're right though and there's a lot more that could be done to generate interest from followers but it all depends how much money the club wants to spend on what is essentially an advertising stream that may not generate that much return. The big question is whether it could increase the number of bums on seats and what that would be worth to the club as a business? Setting up events for ALL matches would be a great start though, allowing even those casual fans on Facebook to see when games are on. (As long as people aren't getting spammed silly with notifications).

"No criminal element involved" according to the police. Just looks like Boyle saying a few home truths and Brown not liking it very much. BBC

That was how I understood it as well, Weeyin. Happy enough with this. Nothing against the guy and we're short of cover at right-back so it's a good short-term solution. If he impresses then maybe we can get him on a longer term deal.
