It depends what kind of money he's after as I don't think we should break the bank for him but so far I've been very impressed. His awareness and positioning seem excellent and he's got some first touch on him. He also seems to be a very intelligent player and there were quite a few times last night he played an amazing pass or ball into space. Granted, the other players weren't always in tune with him to get onto the end of it but that'll come as they all get used to playing together. If we've got a chance to keep him, I'd be delighted.

Radio commentators both pretty much in agreement. Calling for some consistency.

A bit of both to be honest. Celtic played poorly, which gave us the chance but it was our players who took it. Look at Sutton's goalscoring record over the past few seasons. How many clubs would be begging for a player who can consistently hit double figures in the SPL year in year out? I'm not saying he's destined for bigger and better things but used correctly, John Sutton is an excellent asset. One of the strongest parts of his game is to win the ball and hold it up for others. You can't really blame him for the lack of support around him! As for Blackman. Granted he performed well for a few months but was also anonymous for most of December and has hardly kicked a ball while at Aberdeen. Is that the higher level you're talking about? Jutkiewicz, fair enough but we have to accept that we are Motherwell FC and are not going to get players of that level every season.

I don't think it's right to make that sort of judgement at this stage. He's had 2 months in the job and was thrown in during the January transfer window. Jones has looked promising when playing, just unfortunately has been injured lately. Jeffers has shown some good flashes of being a player and should be given a chance to see what he can do. McCall's made some good tactical moves in some of our games (Aberdeen, Celtic) and unfortunately got it wrong in others. He's also had to contend with the player simply not turning up in a few games as well (St Mirren) and seeing us do everything right bar the right bounce to stick the ball in the net (Killie). It's still early days, he's got a small squad with a lot of young players so it's going to be a bit touch and go at times, at least until he gets a chance to strengthen in the summer. As for the Foran comment, that's just ridiculous. A lot of Motherwell supporters are fond of Foran as he was an honest (mostly) hard-working player who wore his heart on his sleeve and often speaks well of his time at Motherwell (including in today's pre-match on the BBC). That doesn't mean they want him to do well to the detriment of Motherwell and to suggest so is just utter tosh.

Creit where credit's due. We played very well last week and deserved our win. From the sounds of it we've not managed to play anywhere near as well today. We tend to be much better when a team comes at us and lets us counter. Today, we're playing at team that we knew would try and get in front, then soak up pressure and hit us on the counter. They've done that. Our main weakness in my opinion is that we run out of ideas when teams shut up shop. We just don't seem to be able to find a way through.

Lasley for me. Personified the attitude of the whole team today and led by example. Threw himself at everything and never gave up. In saying that, I thought everyone could be proud of their performances today. Best games I've seen in some time from Forbes and Hateley and some wonderful stuff at the back from Hutchinson. That boy's fearless. Excellent, Motherwell.

We were shite tonight. I thought Gunning was especially poor, really didn't seem to adapt to the game very well. To be fair though, playing reasonably well in a couple of games then having a stinker isn't exactly McCall's fault...Motherwell always seem to do that. Thought the manager summed it up perfectly on the radio after the game, "we got what we deserved". I'm pretty convinced we'll now turn in a performance against Celtic on Sunday!

I may be remembering incorrectly then, as I thought it was usually Lasley. However we were setup, you're kind of getting to part of my point there. McGarry was never a winger and it's nice that now, we have the players (even if only for 6 months) to be able to switch our team around and play people in their favoured/most effective positions in a couple of different systems. We have natural wingers in Jones and Humphrey so don't need to play Murphy, Sutton or Forbes out wide so we can go 4-4-2 and get some width in the team. Or we can play the "diamond" like we have recently and accommodate the likes of Forbes and Murphy.

That's where the benefit of having guys like Humphrey and Jones lies. For the past several years we've either been set up to play with a narrow midfield (McGhee's first season with O'Donnell - Hughes - Lasley) or with wingers (Brown etc with O'Brien/Humphrey). At these times we've had one gameplan and that's it. Now we have the benefit of having a gameplan that utilises the likes of Forbes and Murphy in effective positions (as seen in the diamond), as well as the option to lineup with a wide midfield with one or two wingers. Add to that the fact that McCall seems to be unafraid to change his tactics around and we genuinely have, for the first time in years, a squad that can be adapted to handle a couple of different tactical approaches.

Delighted with the goal and from the way they were talking on the radio last night, he was causing Aberdeen all kinds of problems. Hopefully he can kick on from here and do a job for us.

Looks like the sheep couldn't handle the fox!!! Am I right in saying that Jeffers has already topped his Rangers career? Great result, so smug right now!

Strangely, I'm not too bothered about this. Same old story for Ibrox as far as I'm concerned. We went there with a mostly inexperienced team, with a number of injuries...what else was to be expected? Look at last Christmas time (09) when we went there under Gannon and got done 6-1. To be honest, I was expecting a similar result today with the fact that our defence haven't really played together before. I should be raging, but I'm not. We were starting to play some better stuff under McCall and I for one, am happy with what he's trying to do. The lack of a cutting edge and poor performances were happening under Brown before, so it's not right to blame SM for that. We've had a couple of decent performances and unfortunately not capitalised (Killie springs to mind). The important thing now is for the team to focus, pull together and try to raise their game. It happened last year after Ibrox and St Johnstone, albeit Brown and Knox came in around then too. If we've not won a game by the end of March, we'll be in trouble. For now, we have a big few weeks. Aberdeen on Tuesday, Accies on Sat and St Mirren the Wednesday after. 7 points from these 3 and we're back in top 6 contention and hopefully our goal difference is looking healthy again. Really, by the time we play Celtic at the end of the month, I think we'll know if we're still in with a top 6 shout. 3 huge games before then though.

To be fair to the lad I'd say that the only reason he gave the ball away was that he was constantly trying to take people on and get past them, something we don't have too much of in our team. With that type of player you're always going to lose the ball a fair bit but when he gets past his man, as he did on countless occasions last night, you're going to create chances, which he did. The one on the stroke of half time was superb.

Jennings for me. Bossed the midfield, shut down Killie along with his partner in crime Lasley and generally controlled the game. Thought Hammell was excellent too, as with Jones who seems to have a real ability to his play and a cracking shot on him too. It's so good having the ability to attack down the left as well as the right. Thought everyone had a good game though (except maybe one).

Good performance tonight, just need to find that cutting edge. It just seemed like it was going to be another one of those games when the time wore on and we hadn't put away any of our chances. Just the wrong decision a few too many times in some great positions, otherwise we could have been walking away with a thumping win. I didn't think anyone played badly tonight, save perhaps the goal machine who tried to put himself about but unfortunately didn't seem to have too much of an idea what he was doing. Thought Jennings, Lasley and Hammell especially were all superb and the middle two really dictated the game. Murphy against Sissoko was never going to be a successful match up unfortunately and it showed as he kept getting pushed off the ball too easily. He's never going to be a huge, strong centre forward so he just needs to learn how to outsmart his opponent a bit, rather than taking the direct route all the time. Tough ask for him though and he did get into some good positions, just looks like he's suffering from a bit of a crisis of confidence at the moment. Just typically unfortunate that we lose a goal from Hammell pulling up injured and the defence not reacting well enough to cover. As said though, another night we could have been 3 goals up by then. The ref was absolutely shocking again. How Steve O'Reilly keeps getting SPL games is beyond me. He's completely inconsistent, seems to not understand the rules and doesn't know how to let a game flow. I thought Hay's red card was disgraceful. It was a booking, plain and simple. The red card should have been out several minutes previous, when Saunders was through on goal on the edge of the D and the Killie defender stuck his hand out. How that was only a booking while Hay's, out on the wing was a red is completely beyond me. Saunders was in a clear goalscoring position with daylight between him and the net. We're defending reasonably well on the whole and not conceding too many goals but as well as we played though, we have to find a killer instinct. John Sutton's been playing well the last couple of games and most defences can't compete with him aerially so dropping him for Casagolda doesn't seem to be the answer. Do we rest Murphy for a couple of games and try Casagolda or one of the young lads in there? It feels like we're just missing one tiny piece to the puzzle, hopefully we just need a little bit of luck to get back on track.
