Yeah, I'd tend to agree with that. Without meaning any offence to the lad, he's coming along well and has bags of potential but he's not even an automatic pick for Motherwell, I'd say that Reynolds and Hammell should both be ahead of him in the queue. Congrats to the wee man if true though, always good to see a Well player get the call. I just feel that the likes of Murphy and Reynolds have been knocking on the door for longer.

Definitely. It makes the stadium look much better as a whole but it definitely seemed a lot more "flat" than usual.

Hammell for me. As mentioned in the other thread, he was the guy winning the ball in the middle of the park and trying to kick off the attack. Also pretty much our only threat down the left after they started to take Murphy out of the game. Humphrey probably closest in second, although he was kept quiet for spells.

What they were booked for as well was shocking, especially when you consider some of the tackles the Hibs players put in and only got the same. They should have had at least 1 red, if not more as they completely lost the head in the second half. Our guys were booked for complaining because they were being kicked to fuck. Figure that one out

Personally, I'd say Hammell. Randolph - not much he could have done with the 2nd goal, couldn't really see the first. Great save at the end though. Hammell - Lost count of the number of times Hammell ended up winning the ball for us in the centre of the park or screaming for it wide left. He actually seemed to be playing Left Back, Left Wing and Centre Midfield at times today. Saunders - Lost his man way too easily today and looked a bit lost. Craigan and Reynolds both had good moments and bad. Craigan's passback obviously the worst. Jennings - not really at the races today. Too many misplaced passes and couldn't really impose himself on the game. Hateley - very poor game. Passing was woeful, as was his positioning. Murphy and Humphrey both did well in spells but had long periods where they drifted out the game. Great run by Murph for the penalty, likewise Humphrey towards the end of the 1st half but couldn't find a man. Gow - didn't seem to be at the races today. Had one or two good flashes of skill but couldn't make them count. Blackman tried hard but usually had 3 or 4 Hibs players around him. Bad day at the office in general.

Not making a decision here one way or the other but Randolph's save at the end today from Riordan is spectacular.

We lost because we played shite. Just in from the game and we really didn't do ourselves justice today. There were plenty of individual errors, Craigan's unfortunately cost the goal, but he made plenty of crucial stops too. Yes, from what I've heard, Saunders' goal should have stood but to be honest, we were poor today and deserved what we got. Stunning save from Randolph near the end to keep out Riordan though and as for the subs thing - they were standing waiting to come on for about 5 minutes before they were allowed on. It was still way too late but they would've been on earlier had play stopped sooner. Hibs boy should have walked near the end though. Absolutely shocking tackle on Randolph at the end, could have really hurt him but instead McDonald books the Hibs player and Craigan for complaining. Followed shortly by Reynolds getting booked after a Hibs player tries to completely take him out the game! Poor refereeing from a guy obviously trying to stay out of the headlines but instead letting some shocking challenges go relatively unpunished. Overall verdict though, must try harder.

Had to really go for Blackman given the hat-trick and his general play tonight. However, I though Humphrey, Randolph, Reynolds and Craigan were all superb tonight. Good to see Fizzy having a decent game too. I was half expecting him to get booed the second he touched the ball! You could tell he isn't quite up to match sharpness as he gave the ball away a bit too easily at times but generally looked lively, put himself about and looked for the ball. Good comeback.

I think it was a case of trying to win the diagonal ball and knock down to the centre. Sutton wins those just about every time. Unfortunately, our strikers took a wee while to catch on though!

He seemed to land badly after a jump and did his ankle from the looks of it. Hopefully not too serious but if he's pulled the ligaments he could be out for a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it wasn't too bad.

Between Blackman, Murphy and Humphrey for me today. Thought the three of them troubled the United defence plenty. Murphy was having a whale of a time tying the United back line in knots but went for Humphrey in the end for the fact that it was his ball (after great work by Hateley) that provided the winner. I wasn't hugely convinced by Gow today though. Some nice touches and some good ideas but just doesn't look quite up to speed yet. I'm sure he'll have more to deliver though as he gets more match time under his belt.

Was that because he didn't know the difference between a bye kick and a corner? What a diddy. Made it hard for ourselves today when we could have easily been 2 or 3 up in the first 5 minutes but got the result in the end and that's the main thing. United looked absolutely woeful and I'm totally perplexed as to how that donkey Kenneth got anywhere near the Scotland squad. The only thing he's any good at is hitting things with his head. On a positive note, I thought Hateley played better today than I've seen him for a while. When we were pushing for a winner in the second half he was always looking for an angle on goal and was instrumental in setting up our second goal.

Yeah, and remember that 13 (was it?) game unbeaten run after Broonie came in where the defence only conceded a couple of goals? You can't say he wasn't decent during that time. He's helped out the team by staying on and given the younger lads time to get up to speed with the first team squad so that they're more ready to step in when he goes. Yes a larger sum would have been great but £250k with a few months left on his contract isn't all that bad. Good luck to him, I hope he gets a decent move. Always done right by the club and that's all you can ask. Would love to see him playing abroad.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to miss this one. Got a bit of a family emergency up north so heading up after work tomorrow. Gutted. Think we might actually do better against them now that Gus is away. He always knew how to play against us so it will be interesting to see how his successor gets on. In saying that, I think we'll get our first home win of the season on Saturday, 3-0.

I know the feeling mate. I had a smug look on my face the whole way home! Midfield and defence were both reasonably solid today. Hateley still struggled a wee bit being out of position but did make a few crucial tackles and kicked off a couple of decent moves. Humphrey, Blackman, Sutton and Murphy all did a great job today, Lasley and Jennings put themselves about well and pretty much stopped the Hearts midfield in their tracks. Randolph didn't have a save to make that I can recall. Big Craggs loves a win against the Jambos!

See. I was thinking that a lot recently as well. Humphrey's constantly standing out wide by himself but nobody plays the ball through for him. I don't know whether this has been the same in other games but today, I really noticed why. Humphrey's awareness and off the ball movement today was woeful. So many times, the ball would end up inside-right with Lasley/Jennings/Gow/Murphy/Blackman etc and Humphrey would stand behind his man, asking for the ball to be played back instead of anticipating the play and making a forward run. There were many times today when the man inside was waiting for him to move forward so he could be put through and he just stood still, waiting for the ball to feet. If he's awake out there, by all means give him the ball. But today he was completely daydreaming so may times when he should have been getting forward to offer the run. Anyway, for MOTM - I voted for Lasley in the end. Couldn't find the final pass today but he made some great runs with and without the ball, chased everything down and tried to create something whenever possible.
