  1. I'm sure somebody on here said he was carrying an injury for one of the earlier rounds so perhaps he could still be struggling. A vastly underrated player in my opinion and really deserves a shot to prove he has what it takes. I could understand if he were to move on, the treatment he gets from some quarters is shameful. Was sitting behind him and Darren Smith at the game last week and my mates and I were having a chuckle trying to guess how long it would be before he got the blame for something on the park. Here's hoping he gets his chance under Gannon.
  2. I hope the same but to say Sutton's not that good is just folly in my opinion. I've been saying for some time that he's a cracking player if used in the right way and Gannon seems to have figured that out where McGhee never could. We do need another striker to provide competition and give us different options but if we continue playing in a similar way, this could be a superb season for the big man.
  3. The thing that really hit the mark for me tonight was when we were 8-1 (still can't believe it!) up with 2 minutes to go and JG was out on the touchline, still shouting instructions to the guys, urging them forward. Really looks like he puts everything into it and I'm delighted with the way he's started. Think we've got a great manager here.
  4. Superb result tonight and I'm still in a state of disbelief. Excellent performance from the team, especially Slane, Sutton, Murphy and Forbes who simply destroyed the opposition tonight. Jennings looked to be a bit unfit but showed a good deal of grit and a willingness to win the ball while Humphrey looked dangerous and probably should have had a goal or two as well. He looks to be a very talented lad though and I think he'll be a great asset this season. Reynolds was very good coming forwards, something we don't see too often and I thought young Hutchison did well despite a few mistakes but we can chalk that up to inexperience. Craigan was solid as usual and the only slight disappointments IMO were Fraser, who didn't cope too well with the little he was asked to do and O'Brien, who is not a right back but did his best but if we were playing a better team we may have been punished. Phew. Great result though and some cracking goals. I can't wait to see these guys getting set loose on the SPL this year!

    Klimpl

Sol Bamba is an absolute bombscare! Sure he's big and strong and can wind headers but he can't kick a ball to save his life!
  6. Nice one, free B & B then? Would love it if we got through to meet Ujpest, been to Budapest twice and would absolutely love to go again as it's an amazing city.
  7. If you want to believe Wikipedia, he's in Cyprus now: AC Omonia
  8. Looks like the Sun are expecting the hottest day on record. That's almost boiling point! Good to hear we're on the brink of another signing and from the sounds of things, we're bringing in players who will "improve what we already have, not improve the bench". Won't McGhee be happy?!

    Albania

I'm not going to make it anymore folks but I was looking at a relatively cheap route if anyone's interested. - Flight from Stansted to Brindisi (ITA). £19.99 with Ryanair (exc. tax). - Ferry from Brindisi to Vlore (about 80 Euro I think). Hardly breaking the bank, just need to get yourself to London. Not sure what availability will be now though.
  10. Plenty of people to choose from this week: Hammell's crossing and forward runs, Slane's directness, O'Brien's trickery, Lasley's control of the game. But for me it was John Sutton who played despite pain, put his goals away well and showed what he can offer when he's provided with the ball in the right way. McGhee never had the right approach for Sutton and although it's early days yet, hopefully Gannon's figured out how to get the best from the big man. He's a quality player if utilised correctly and IMO thoroughly deserving of MOTM for last night.
  11. Is it the guy whose outfit looks kind of like a claret & amber Where's Wally? Either way, sickening behaviour and I hope those involved face lifetime bans as well as criminal charges. Wankers.

    Albania

Do you know what the reasoning behind this is Flow? The FCO website had said Albania was fine to travel to last week so just curious if there's been some sort of tip off or if they reckon it's normally fine but not so for football fans?
  13. Finding the website stream about 40-50 seconds behind the radio?! Much better tempo this week!
  14. Would love to see Stepover back at the club and I think he and Hammell down the left could be a great combination. Plus with Paterson's ability to get to the byeline we could finally start playing the correct sort of ball to make the best use of Sutton's in-the-box ability.
  15. I'd be surprised if this were true however, McCart was certainly there on Thursday, just sitting to the right of me and he and his posse were taking a fair amount of notes throughout the game. Hopefully there's nothing in it though as I think Murphy's still got a bright future ahead of him.
  16. Remember what an impression Fizzy made on said night though. Plenty of people got carried away with him, expecting all sorts and now they hurl abuse at him for the slightest thing. I personally rate him as well, I think he's a grafter and very good at breaking up opposition moves, something which as you say, often goes unnoticed. It's way too early to guess who is going to struggle to get a game this year, some who did well on Thursday may struggle for form whereas those who were poor may turn it around. Can anybody here really say they have an idea what the starting line up might be when we play, say Accies on 7th Novemeber? I certainly don't!
  17. We're in an unusual position having started our season so soon. I have every confidence that come August 15th, we'll have a number of new faces in the side.
  18. Settle petal! It's a bit early for panic stations yet. You're perfectly correct that it was an unacceptable performance last night but I don't think we're in quite as bad a situation as you make out. Plenty of other teams have screwed up against poor opposition but there's still time to bounce back. Remember that although it was an important game last night, it was still essentially a pre-season game for some of our guys. Still, we should have won, I'm not disagreeing with that but there is still the second leg and the manager now has a week to work with the players and make sure we don't get a repeat of last night. Last night we were essentially looking for the players to take charge and produce a win off their own backs as 3-4 days is no time for the manager to get to know his players and decide his best team. Next week he'll have another week under his belt and hopefully have more of an idea what he wants from everyone. Europa League aside, I see why you're panicking but Gannon has already shown he can move quickly in the transfer market and we do have another 7 or 8 weeks of the transfer window to strengthen the squad. I'd much rather be in our position than that of Falkirk, Killie or Hamilton right now.
  19. I don't think there's any doubt that they'll line up with 11 men behind the ball and time waste like they did last night. The best thing we can do is come flying out the traps and put them under pressure from the kick off, not give them time to settle. If we can do that and grab an early goal then the tie is wide open again. As for last night, I'm still trying to convince myself it was all a bad dream. Too many players still on holiday but good to see the young lads getting a shout. Slane in particular made a huge impact when he came on and I thought Murphy played much better after half time when he was moved into the middle. Am I the only person on here who thought McGarry wasn't that bad? The boy is by no way a creative midfielder but I thought he was alright with the ball at his feet, just didn't do much with it (which wasn't always his fault). There just wasn't enough movement last night (coupled with unfitness) and you could see that the team wasn't used to playing together as nobody seemed to have a clue where each other were. Hopefully with another week's training under their belt and a bit more of an idea what they're all meant to do we can give it a much better shot in the second leg.
  20. I'll take my boots just in case! In all seriousness, we should have enough to get by. With Sutton, Murphy, Smith, McGarry and the young lads as well we're bound to be able to have some threat up front.
  21. Aye because Corrigan was great after his last injury which is why he's dropped down the leagues? Don't get me wrong, I highly rated Corrigan and have great respect for him but after his last serious injury he lost something. It just coincided with Quinn's rise. I think we'll miss Quinn as he's decent with the ball at his feet and solid defensively as well. Okay so he can't cross but he's got plenty else to offer. Plenty of football people have a high opinion of Quinn so he must be doing something right.
  22. The edges of "Jaxx" are starting to peel on mine as well. Only been washed once and at 30 degrees as well!
