  1. While he was being played at centre back he was obviously struggling a little bit but showed glimpses that suggested he would do a job in the holding role. McGhee moved him forward and he hasn't looked back since. The club MUST do everything they can to keep hold of him as he is a crucial player to the team.

    Vs Hearts

It's amazing the difference it can make viewing an incident from different angles. From the away stand, I and many others were after blood and were astounded that Nade was still on the park. From other angles, it sounds like it was obviously an accident. Fair play to Nade for going and checking on him after the game, good lad. Still gutted we lost, we definitely didn't deserve to! Still, we're well in the hunt and good results against United and Killie over the next couple of weeks could get us back in the mix, especially with hibs being rank rotten.

    Vs Hearts

Disappointed to lose it so late on. We were the better team (especially after we scored) and deserved to take at least a point. I'd be interested to see the Craigan incident again as it looked nigh on assault to me but a few of the hearts fans I know reckoned it was a straight up clash of heads. Clarkson should be up front I reckon, he's not a midfielder and would be much more effective up top. Thought most played well tonight without excelling but a special mention to Klimpl who chased Stewart and Obua all over the park. If he'd said "boo" to either one by the end I bet they'd have shat themselves. He also got REALLY agitated at the Craigan/Nade incident so it certainly seems like it can't have been that innocent. Onwards and upwards and hopefully a win against United next weekend to kick off another run. Hearts are nothing special but I think they have the organisation to keep grinding out results for the remainder of the season.
  4. We've still only had 1 match called off this season... Incidentally, although not quite as lacking in grass, Pittodrie and Easter Road are in a right state as well.

    Celtic

Went for O'Brien but there were a number of contenders today. Don't think anyone had a bad game. Klimpl was excellent as was Fitzy (esp. 1st half) but it was O'Brien's tireless effort in both attack and defence that I think made him stand out. I thought Sutton did a hard job well today and put a hell of a lot of effort in, even though he was out on his feet by the time celtic scored. Reasonably solid at the back and just a single silly mistake which you get away with against other teams but not the old firm. Good job today guys and a thoroughly deserved point.
  7. That seems to be the approach but it gives us significantly more bodies in the box than the opposition and really seems to be improving our set pieces defensively. Also, I think a lot of credit has to go to Buzz who has been more confident this season and commanded his area better. He's been much better at coming for high balls and communicating with the guys in front of him. We have the quality to create chances from open play so I don't see anything wrong with keeping everyone back to defend set-pieces (unless we're chasing the game).
  8. Not the best performance but really happy with the result. Buzz was fantastic again and really kept us in it today. I really hope he signs a new deal. Darren Smith did well today and deserved his start, hopefully he'll get another start in one of the games next week. Thought Klimpl broke up play well and Jim O'Brien again looked dangerous on the ball. Felt a bit for Hughes as the only time he got near the ball in the first half was when he chased back and took it from someone. We seemed to bypass the midfield a bit too much. Really did a superb job in the second though and I think his goal last week's given him a bit more confidence. Quinn had a bit of a shocker though, hope he can pick it up. Some good runs, just kept making the wrong decision. EDIT: Oh and Dougie McDonald? Get tae fuck. That was a stonewall penalty. Nevermind all the accies player jumping in with elbows all the time. When is he going to actually watch a game he's supposed to be in charge of?
  9. Yeah, it sounds like the fine won't be payed unless we have another game off this season or fail to take remedial action during the summer.
  10. Slow news day and the typical hypocritical shite we're used to being fed from the old squirm. Why should we reduce our prices for them when they don't do it for us? Jog on.
  11. It's disgraceful the abuse Fitzpatrick gets for doing very little wrong. Every game is the same story. He's still a young lad who puts everything he's got into each game and plays a mostly unattractive but very necessary role in the team. He's not a silky midfielder who can run rings round the opposition but he is the type of player who breaks up play, passes it off short and works his socks off in every match. He's not liable to get the plaudits for what he does but he certainly shouldn't get abuse. As with all players he makes mistakes but certainly no more than anyone else in the midfield. Get off his back and start supporting the team, maybe then they'll stop worrying about making mistakes and concentrate on the game.
  12. It crossed my mind too but who would you have drop out? OBrien? I don't think he deserves to be dropped just now and I'm not sure he would work in a midfield 3. It might be worth trying at some point though.
  13. Sutton certainly deserves to start given his goals at Inverurie and performance against Hibs but I don't think we should stick with one over the other indefinitely. Whichever player puts in the effort in training and performs on the park should get the nod. Ideally I'd like that to be Sutton as he's signed on with us but if Sheridan's on fire it would be silly to leave him out. No reason McGhee can't select the best man for the job at any given time.
  14. That wasn't at Fir Park though mate: Reserve match
  15. Fitpatrick's a decent enough player but I'd agree with what you say there. With Fizzy in the team at wide left, we tend to become a bit unbalanced as he tends to drift in a bit towards his more natural position leaving Hammell to drive down the left. I think McGhee's looking to get the same width on the left as we have on the right with O'Brien to make the midfield more balanced and provide the same threat down each flank.
  16. And if they'd all met up at JD's instead, would that make it a Rangers bar?
  17. Anyone see the highlights last night on Sportscene? Yet again, more ridiculous editing from the BBC, made it look like Hibs had the most of the game and that Riordan had a belter of a game. Absolutely ridiculous!
  18. Surely that's a mistake? Or has Craggs been working on his shooting after that effort on Saturday?
  19. Not according to the official site: Match info
  20. Just back from the game. We should have walked it. Were by far the better side but just couldn't find the cutting edge. Hibs were pish. When Jones goes they're going to be fucked! A silly defensive lapse cost us a goal but Hibs didn't look like doing anything much for the rest of the game. Klimpl screwed up for the goal but apart from that I thought the whole team played really well. Clarkson and Sutton looked good up front together. Disappointed we didn't win but just glad we kept the unbeaten run going. Really need to pump accies in our next league game though! EDIT: Couldn't make out the writing at the match, looks like a sponsor of some kind though.
  21. Sorry to see him go but he's been a great player and I wish him all the best. Let's hope there's a big sell-on clause in there somewhere!
  22. Disappointing to lose Ports before this as I was hoping he'd be able to play a farewell game. I thought it would be 2-1 before with Clarky and Ports scoring. I still think we'll take it 2-1, possibly big Sutton getting a goal on his return.
  23. Good to hear! With the threat of losing Porter as well as the possibility of not being able to keep Hughes and Klimpl at the end of the season we need to keep a hold of players like Lasley.
  24. Really don't rate Tokely at all and I don't think he'd get anywhere near our first team. The best players at Caley were/are Cowie and Black IMO and to be honest, I probably wouldn't bother with any of the rest.
