Sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone but of those you mention we only sold Scott, and at that it was for a pretty tidy sum. The club tried to keep Hastie and Cadden but both players decided to move on, the club never sold them. We’re all aware of the Turnbull saga, could’ve moved on for a chunk of change that would have pushed us on a level or two, but for all we know he could sign an extension tomorrow and be here for another two years (before leaving for nothing a la Cadden/Hastie) and we’re exactly where we started at...) Slight side note, but I’m constantly amazed that Campbell has never been linked with a move elsewhere as he has (last few fatigue-laden games aside) been one of our most consistent performers and a powerhouse central to getting us going imo.

If his social media is anything to go by then he’s certainly not regretting anything.

Gillespie Grimmy - Gallagher - Mugabe - Hartley - Carroll Donnelly - Campbell - O’Hara Polworth Long I suspect we’ll start off compact at the back, and look to flood the middle of the park. Long needs to start, only proven goal scorer this season and his pace should give their big dopy centre halves some problems if we play the channels. I reckon our width will come from the wing backs, I can’t see us playing a flat back five with two wide midfielders ahead of them, so I’d personally expect to see Grimmy and Carroll push on when the time is right. I’d also like to see Polworth in a bit more of a free role, although it’s more likely that Donnelly will sit in front of the defence and the other three will be the bank. Keep it tight for the first hour, then bring on Manzinga/Hylton/Aarons/Ndjoli or fire Mugabe up top again!

I believe the logic to that one was that if he was still our player, medical costs/insurance would be covered by us.

Scott not even on the bench for Hull today. Think he left too soon, should've waited out the season with us till the summer.

Very interesting when you see the split from before/after. Clear change in strategy from the club, and it seems to be paying off!

Don’t think anyone could make an argument for signing someone arguably better than Scott.

Seems we got a good few with a sell-on, as per standard transfer these days. Sad to see him go as was really enjoying watching him in recent weeks, but good bit of business in the long run I’m sure. If he continues developing as I’m sure we all hope he will, we’ll be seeing him at a much higher level sooner or later. Bank the cash, secure Europe and then let’s get a few more Moults/Kipres/Johnsons in at the summer to supplement the bold DT!

I think that they just need to have started the process by 11, but that there’s still a window after that in which to finalise the paperwork etc. I don’t think it’s dead just because we haven’t heard anything yet.

By all accounts McKinstry is doing very well at Leeds. Scored twice against Wolves last week in a 2-2 draw for the U23 team, quite highly thought of and from what I’ve read expected to push for the first team in the coming years. Would’ve been lovely to see him playing for the first team at Fir Park, but also nice to see alumni progressing elsewhere safe in the knowledge that they were made in Motherwell.

What about the apprenticeship he was apparently being put thorough by EK?!

I see Hull have also signed Marcus Maddison on loan from Peterborough. He’s been playing up front as part of a front three this season (a la Scott) and is a more likely starter than James, could this potentially stall the transfer until the summer? Would be delighted if so, few extra quid potentially.

It's funny, majority of my mates are Rangers fans with more than a few thinking Craggs is a terrible pundit - most likely because he has no OF affiliation to tend to. By contrast they all rate McCoist very highly as a pundit. I think he can occasionally come across as funny/sincere, but 9 times out of 10 just sounds like an absolute muppet.

Raging at him for leaving, or raging at the club for letting him leave?
