Wasn’t overly impressed with him there either. Put it down to him being asked to play wider than he’d like, would quite like to see him up top.
-
What happened to your ticket office informant?
-
It could be asked about all of our current strikers. Ironically Johnson is the only one that could argue he is ready having taken a few off Rangers last season.
-
I’d agree. I think that someone coming back in at Christmas would depend on him being back on the team by, say, end of September to give him a good two months of running the show. I personally think it’ll be later than this, so I think end of the season is the most likely time we’ll see revived interest.

I wonder if Newcastle will possibly be interested in DT come January/end of season now that Bruce is their manager. I only say this because Wednesday seemed interested pre-Norwich but were in a sticky financial situation. Bit of a 2 + 2 connection to make but wouldn't be totally surprised if it happened.

I saw Tanner was back playing today, any idea how the game went? Am sure someone previously had said it was a reserved game against Dundee but could be wrong.
-
Take it the increased contract we were supposed to be offering hasn't come to anything then.
-
Because he used to play in the English non-leagues and that’s where we excel in player recruitment.
-
Cheers! Makes sense I guess.

Maybe someone watching on TV can confirm but from where I was sitting it looked like it bounced off of him and fell to a Motherwell player, he called a drop ball and wouldn't let us challenge it and then let Morton keep possession.
-
The incident where he gave a drop ball because the ball hit off of him still baffled me. Is this a new rule brought in this season or something? As many have said thought it was a good season and if we can play like that more times than not this season then it’ll be a very enjoyable one to watch. Thought Donnelly was good personally. Covers ground, puts a tackle in, plays the simple pass. He’s most likely not on the same level as Gorrin, but on our budget we’d be doing well to replace like-for-like. Feel like he’s going to be this year’s scapegoat the same way as Fitzpatrick was for example. Speaking of Fitzpatrick, saw him in the ticket office before the game. Speaking of the ticket office before the game, also saw Colin Calderwood there. He’s currently head coach at Cambridge and had the tracksuit top on, I wonder if he was up watching his old player Carroll or if he had an eye on someone else who was playing last night...

Robinson said the the other day we’ll only be signing players of a quality to start. We have a squad now that seems to have cover in most areas.
-
According to Wikipedia dates it would’ve been McGhee weeks before leaving and Robinson taking over.
-
Good listen. Wasn’t aware that he was now playing at Morton until listening, was the reason I went from being indifferent about tonight’s game to going!
-
I think something that is often forgotten is that Robinson took over as manager when we were not in a very good position and managed to keep us in the division. With the players he inherited he kept us in the division and then got us to two cup finals the following season. It is different to someone coming in and taking over with a bunch of players on a high a la Alessio. Even then, last night shows that it’s still not a given that those players will perform so to get those kind of results from a team of poorly performing players is testament again to Robinson as a manager. Two seasons seems to be the rule of thumb for a manager to put their stamp on a team, he’s also still learning on the job and so you’d like to think that from this point on we’ll only be building on the base he has made over the last two and a bit years.

I smell another exclusive...

Translated: new primary sponsor will be Paddy Power, front of shirt will remain sponsorless.

Comments in Robinson's press conference alude to us maybe not actively pursuing anyone but able to act should someone of starting quality fall into our price range later in the window. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2019/07/18/manager-speaks-ahead-of-morton/

By which point he may have multiple suitors after him if we’re doing well, he approaches the last six months of his deal and we end losing him for a lot less/nothing had we offered him a contract at the beginning of the season and then potentially replace him with guff? Very happy with this myself, better the devil you know etc and since Christmas have very much enjoyed this devil. Even when the football wasn’t great he still got us to two cup finals and have for the most part stayed clear of any relegation battles.

I heard Tanner saying to someone outside Palmerston that he was hoping to be back playing in a few weeks. Presumably it’ll be a while before he’s back in the first team. What was Tanner’s injury again? He’s been out that long I can’t actually remember what the issue was.
-
Plenty of flair in wide areas but not a great deal of creativity in the middle I felt. Plenty of dig and industry but what a difference not having DT makes. Any idea why Sloth wasn’t in the squad?
-
Agree. I thought there was a definitely a player in there and was a bit disappointed when he left that it wasn’t us that was able to draw it out of him. Feel some of the scapegoating he receives on here is unjustified.

I’m about 90% positive he’ll be back for the Celtic match in August. Based on absolutely nothing also.
