  1. Less of a valid criticism I feel over the last 2 games, where he has clearly changed the system. Hopefully with some players back from injury after the break we'll stick with the 2 up front.
  2. Grimmy has been one of our better players so far, saved us one at the back post there.
  3. Last I heard was 8 week minimum, which was just shy of 4 weeks ago when the injury occurred. Has there been any update since?
  4. I always liked Murphy as a player. My memory of him was that he always went missing in the physical battles, will probably be much more effective for a Hibs side already playing well than he would for us who need to start grinding out results.
  5. I had thought this prior to the Hibs game, which was probably our best performance to date. We aren’t used to having the amount of possession teams are giving us so far this season, and so it really shouldn’t be a surprise that we’re struggling to force our way through with it. I suspect we’ll get a better performance on Sunday, but still beat.
  6. As pleased as I was with 2 up top, I'm expecting to revert to the usual 4-3-3 against Celtic. Glentoran were certainly competitive and gave us a few frights, but we had the better players which is why we got away with having the full backs out of position. Would love to see us stick with that formation once Donnelly, McGinley and Carroll are fit but think we'll go with a flat back 4 at the weekend. I believe that either Carroll or McGinley were due back after the international break, with the other due back a few weeks later? Hopefully that is still the case. Despite all goals being scored against 10 absolutely gubbed NI league players, you could definitely see a bit of added zip in the passes and movement with each goal we scored. It's just a shame that we're away to Celtic next and then the international break is here, as we could do with building a bit of momentum to add that urgency to some of our possession play.
  7. Also Celtic from the Champions League in 2014. Certainly no mugs.
  8. Certainly a few teams in there we’d still want to avoid! Hopefully we get the luck of the draw.
  9. I think you’re right. There was a discussion on this on P&B the other week, the below posted as a result. States that the money is paid per round, and you get to keep all the money from the previous rounds you’ve been in. This is also the case in Football Manager, which we all know is entirely lifelike. Solidarity payments for the qualifying phase of the UEFA club competitions Under the new distribution system, the pot for payments to clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds will be equal to 3% of the overall gross revenue plus an additional €10m coming from UEFA Champions League clubs. Based on the forecast of €3.25bn in overall revenue, €107.5m will be distributed to the clubs as follows. UEFA Europa League – champions and main pathsEach club participating in the qualifying rounds will receive the following amounts per round played:• preliminary round – €220,000• first qualifying round – €240,000• second qualifying round – €260,000• third qualifying round – €280,000• play-offs – €300,000 (eliminated clubs only). No solidarity payment will be made to the winners of this round. However, they will retain the payments received for the preliminary, first, second and third qualifying rounds, as applicable.
  10. Has anyone done the maths on whether we go in as seeded or not yet? Would much prefer a winnable tie in the next round and then a spanking in the third once we’ve got the cash
  11. I actually really struggle to listen to them, feel like they try to put a pro-Motherwell slant on everything but in a really annoying way.
  12. Looks like 3-5-2 to me. Ideally Carroll/McGinley over Grimmy/Mugabi, interested to see how this plays out.
  13. What if the sell-on was 50%, but had to be kept confidential so that Celtic fans didn't know the full details? Just because neither club has itemised all the T's & C's for punters on a forum doesn't mean MFC has been shafted.
  14. Good luck to Livingstone, would be good to see him kick on and play some regular football.
  15. Kind of what I'm getting at. Off top of my head in recent years we've had joy with Johnson, Moult, Kipre, Gorrin, Gillespie (even Bowman to the extent that we seemingly made a profit on him). Without doing any sort of research, I can't think of a club comparable to us with anything like the same sort of success stories.
  16. Six figures? Loose change to us, let's just buy him back.
  17. So we’ve signed some hidden gems, we’ve signed some utter duds. That’s football, no? Genuinely interested in what club’s recruitment has been markedly better than ours on a similar budget, perhaps those lambasting Robinson/Foyle could suggest.
  18. I’m less interested in the actual figure, and more concerned about whether there was a sell-on. The difference between £3.25m and £3.5m is fuck all in comparison to what he’ll be worth eventually.
  19. Because it isn’t in the club’s interest to let all and sundry know how much is in the bank account. For those that really want to know there are means (when annual accounts are published) but it doesn’t do anyone any good to have it bandied about the newspapers “cus the fans deserve to know”.
  20. My comment was made in jest, tend to agree with you. Even if Celtic adjust their transfer targets on the back of reduced prize money, I’d say DT would still be a priority for them.
  21. I suppose if Celtic go out tonight it wouldn’t hurt to have DT play tomorrow
  22. What are the streaming options for the game this weekend? First away game of the season not on Sky.
  23. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was 2008, when Clarkson and McCormack were both in the squad. It may have been another poster on here, or it may have been elsewhere.
  24. I feel like I’ve been here with Erwin before, but would be disappointed not to see Scott making the Scotland team in the next few seasons. Especially if this is the new benchmark for being an international striker.
