  1. Paul Smith as well, sure Smudger managed in the lower divisions for a few years.
  2. Eddie May had a brief spell leading Falkirk to relegation iirc.
  3. Remember him playing, sure it was at Rugby Park. We had so many injuries that he played a young reserve forward called Paul Ferguson at right-back and then spent the first 45 minutes screaming abuse at the boy, blaming him for his own mistakes, before subbing him at half-time.
  4. What games are included in this. Says that Scotland have had 54 matches that been included between the start of May and the end of the year. Assume it includes the European matches as well as internationals from all age groups.
  5. Shame Buckie Thistle has already been taken.
  6. Most surprising thing from the stats is that he's managed to book Reynolds 3 times in 5 games. He was also the ref when Reynolds was sent off in the 4-1 defeat at East End Park, the 2nd last game of the Malpas season. Didnae think Reynolds had picked up that many bookings tbh.
  7. Always hated Grant Brebner with a passion normally reserved for Old Firm players. Also divers - don't know if Gareth Evans of Hibs, Maloney of Celtic and Lee Miller have been mentioned elsewhere ..... ... and while we're at it (and tin hat on) Andy Walker for his constant defence of diving as well as all his badge-kissing at Fir Park when he played for Celtic.
  8. 1-0 win at Ibrox when Ray Farningham scored in the last minute after 89 minutes of backs-to-the-wall defending
  9. Another one where Alan Combe had a wee tantrum, always makes getting a late goal that bit sweeter when the goalie is a total tit like him or Alan Main
  10. Yet when McClair was sold his replacement was also a catholic (as well as another candidate for a worst player side) - Jim Gillespie. The late-seventies, early eighties were a time when we had a horrendous turnover of players. Guys like Derek Weldon would be drafted in from the Juniors for a couple of games. Also gave us some longer term numpties right enough, Mike Larnach springs to mind. In later years what about Mark Caughey & Crawford Baptie.
  11. Remember a couple of last minute goals in successive games at Fir Park about 3 years ago. One was big Stretch to beat the Luvvies, the other was Craigan - think it salvaged a draw against Aberdeen.
  12. A wee search on amazon shows a few books about the 'Well though some of them are second hand only and a bit pricey at that. At least it'll give the ISBN's List Also looks like there's a follow up to the new Derek Wilson one New book
  13. .... in that case then the tour was organised before McGhee was even announced had taken over: - Telegraph from June 2 "Aberdeen players will return to training on June 29 with a pre-season tour of Austria pencilled in."
  14. No, but Aberdeen are: - Clicky Coincidence?
  15. Will a bucket and spade be supplied or do you need to bring your own?
  16. I'd agree with the points the guy is making but I'm beginning to get seriously pissed off listening to Falkirk fans (I live & work in Linlithgow) and the press spout off about the great passing football game that Falkirk play. I see Steven Pressley is also on the BBC site today complaining that Hampden wasn't conducive to Falkirk's passing style of football. While they may have been playing football last season I haven't seen much evidence of it this season. Their performance on Saturday was brutal in more ways than one and that wasn't just down to the pitch, it was obviously something they had decided in advance. Hughes comments at the end of the game about scrapping for every point seemed to confirm that.
  17. I think the rivalry in the 80's was also down to the fact that we were both yo-yoing between the Premier and First Divisions at the same time in the late Seventies and early Eighties. I seem to remember denying them promotion at Tynecastle on the last day of the season one year (1982 ?). We had already tied up the league and they needed to win to go up with us. We cuffed them 3-0 and Kilmarnock win to snatch second place - superb day. It took them a while to forgive us for that one.
