i thought his Scotland role was voluntary? When Kenny Black was there - he never got anything, and any money he should have got was passed on to the youth development (correct me if im wrong!)
-
the fans deserve it for me - turned up in great numbers its hard to criticise after the season they have just given us - but it was nothing short of poor
-
re Hateley - i've always thought he'd end up at Rangers for a variety of reasons however, i would love him to stay. he's nearly been an ever present, which is impressive in itself and this season he's had people probably doubt him, but i think thats down to the "expectation level" he set on previous seasons anyway - my question is, can Rangers actually sign him? Would we not be due a "development" fee? Therefore, he'd need to wait until January when they can actually buy players???

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22525678 good news for us, and McCracken apparently still out too (which is a shame really as it wold have been nice if he could've been on the end of some abuse) im undecided about what team we play............do we go for it and finish off in style? or does McCall look at it - think St J are going to go at us, its a chance for him to see how those who will be here next season fair when there is absolutely no pressure on us Hollis, Carswell, McHugh, ZFA - yes we have seen them play - but not at the same time Does he offer Kerr and K Higgy the chance to prove they are worth a contract? -
when McCall signed a new contract - the "stalling" was all down to the compensation part of it AFAIK he signed a new contract because he enjoys it here and he has been successful, BUT, like everyone else, at one point he will want to move on up the chain - i have no problem with that Motherwell wanted to cover themselves if he went, but at the same time McCall wanted to make sure the amount due, wouldnt put off potentional suitors Maybe he was always going to go - and by signing a new contract it meant he was making sure sure MFC got some £££ - a kind of thanks for taking a punt on me when no one else would if he stays - then great. if he goes - then good luck to him
-
can he do more than what he has already done?? i got the feeling thats why Houston left Utd - he done well with what he had and got the recognition for it, but when he seen what was on the table for the following season - he thought my CV looks good just now, if i stay its a downwards spiral - his stock was at an all time high and he wanted to bow out at that point so his CV didnt take a bashing or he wasnt shown the door by Utd maybe McCall thinks the same? although everything he has said in public has been fairly positive IMO maybe he thinks the rebuilding job will be a difficult task and doesnt want to take the chance that it damages his CV? we need to remember, he didnt come here with a great record and its only now he's managed to raise his stock again. It would be disappointing to lose him - but like some of the players, if they move on, they will be hard to replace but they will be replaced. If he goes - good luck to him

give the cooper to the away fans  make the south stand the Motherwell family section, and flood it with Motherwell fans

anytime a bid comes in for a player and its accepted, you always hear that the player will go and talk to them out of respect - maybe he is playing the game. whether we like it or not, Rangers are a massive club and in comparison to Motherwell pay massive wages (its a job at the end of the day - he wants to make as much as he can) now - he spoke to Rangers because he is close-by, (if he didnt live in the Central belt, he probably wouldnt have spooken to them yet) you always hear players/managers saying dont burn your bridges - you only have to listen to Lennon the other day when asked about the Everton job. He does say he will speak to those other clubs too. His agent wil be telling those clubs that he has already spoken to Rangers which in turn, will make them possibly up their offer - more money for Nicky, more money for the agent

Whilst there is no way we can detract from what the club are trying to do in encouraging fans to come along and hope that they get hooked - 2 things stick in my mind......... 1 - if we gave away tickets for the full South Stand for free, which i'm lead to believe to be true - then it goes to show that no matter what we do, even at zero cost - we just can't get "alot" of people to come along - it must have been half full 2 - going from £0 to then asking someone who cant afford a season ticket, to say someone choosing to take their kids along and then paying at the gate - the price jump is enormous i think the best thing the club can do, over the pre-season period is sell the value of the season ticket - promote promote promote - constantly emphasise the saving that can be made, promote the payment options. In hindsight, they should have had a couple of stewards/employees in the South Stand handing out another free ticket to all those who actually turned up on Sunday - they enjoyed it, and the chances are with an atmosphere like that - folk would want to come back - the result also helped too as mentioned by Mj a few times now - they should look to have the same deal in the East as they do in the Cooper. We all know the Cooper is the family stand and if you want to keep your childs ears away from some of the colourful language then you have the right to stay in the Cooper. But if your kids want to be part of the Bois then this deal should not discourage them. the club should follow up immediately with any organisation that attended on Sunday and ask them if they want to be part of it again - show them the Season Ticket deals and hope some of them take it up, offer them more free tickets for selected games can we not come up with a scheme where if you are part of a boys club / BBs / football team / primary school - where you can buy a season ticket for £20 per child and the organisational owners get free STs so that they can supervise? Anyway - just throwing some ideas out there.............Sunday was a great success, to see over 7700 people in Fir Park and having Motherwell fans in every stand was a great sight Well done Leann and everyone else who was involved #SIWY

if you say that too loud, there will be no reduction in prices!! If a club knows alot of people are going to attend, they would be awful silly to reduce the price and minimise their income. Surely the whole idea of price reduction is too attract people along?? anyway - they have Richard Brittains medical bil to pay for now!! -
if Humphrey does indeed go - what the thoughts on Sproule replacing him? Whilst I accept he isnt the most talented player in the world, he certainly offers alot of what Humphrey has. And seems to chip in with some goals too. If he does go, i think he'll be sorely missed - a player that has the threat he has is always going to make teams really think about how to deal with it. He takes some amount of pressure off the team by carrying the ball up the park and he is a great outball. I was also quite impressed by Fotheringham yday when he came on - show some nice footwork, nice passes and a few tackles in there too
-
the two clubs in question?? Birmingham as we seen surface last week - the other I heard was Burnley he wants to be a no 1 wherever he goes - so i think they are both liley - with a lot more money on the table
-
im think a few strikers mustve been thinking who theyve not liked playing against this season - who hasnt given them a sniff at goal he hasn't been consistently brilliant - but he has had a very very good season the other 3 as mentioned, were rightly in there - although i am surprised Commons never made it in there - maybe because the TOY has to consist of the 4 nominees, there was just no space for him delighted for them all - and as they saym, its nice to get the recognition from your fellow pros when is the Manager of the Year announced? And when is the Writers team of the year announced? We all know what that will consist of!!
-
i think we need to be careful with this one - we obviously have to accept McCalls opinion on him - as he sees him every day. but for me - there are a load of IFs here IF McCall stays then we go on as we are, McCall doesnt rate him - fine IF McCall goes - then Hateley might go, Ramsden might go - the new manager might want to see if we have a buyer for Hutchy As someone else mentioned, its a sign of the times - it would have been great to offer him a new deal but the money is just not there- personally, i'd liked to have kept him has McCall put a time frame on the contract offers? Anyone else see that Samson has rejected the Midden's take it or leave it deal?
-
thats a toughie because Higdon would not be where he is just now without his team mates he's not a Leigh Griffiths or Niall McGinn who will create chances out of nothing - he's an old fashioned penalty box striker who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net given half a chance (and he's done that very very very well this season) for me it would need to be Law or Randolph - those 2 for me are the 2 from the list who will defo go on to bigger and better things and will be able to perform at a higher level
-
did mccall not say the other day that there was no truth in the rumour and he wasnt sure where it had come from as i said in the other thread, i would be more than happy if he came in - no matter who does, they have a very hard act to follow after our recent successes in that position as touched on in another thread somewhere, and being discussed in the cooper last night - i would love the players to get together and have chat, and them all to agree to sign on another year. Randz touched on it in his interview, if the core can stay together - it could sway his decision so come on guys.........you all love being here, you all love playing / working with your mates and the fans appreciate what you have achieved, so how about one last crack together.......can we win a cup? a very good european performance?
-
everybody going to the Cooper tonight - take pictures and tweet them to : @dundeeunitedfc @ScotFootBlog @pieandbov @TheAwayEnd @arabtrust1909 @DundeeUtdNews "this is the money you could've had!!" being the caption, that should get a load of RTs and will certainly make journos and other scottish football fans aware of it - im sure there are others too i'll be in the cooper tonight
-
the same day, the "same" people decided to enter the Dundee Utd end with a "heavy hands, empty stands" banner couldn't really have worked any better!!!!!! St Mirren away on a Friday night i can deal with - getting to Dundee after work on a Friday I can't accept so im taking the easy option of watching it on TV i'm afraid (cue the responses that me watching it on TV is exactly why these games end up getting moved!)
-
no - certainly not, he's even managed to get involved with the Scotland squad, has come on leaps and bounds in recent seasons - i would be happy if he came in as Randolph's replacement
-
if we agree to this just now - and the voting rights dont change, then they NEVER will. Like it or loathe it, within 3 years Rangers will be back in the SPL and by that time, we will never be able to change the voting structure as the OF will be back to together its frustrating to see, but i have no idea why (if true) Aberdeen want to side with Celtic - what do they have to gain out of that? if the model does change - and we do go, 8-8-8...........how does the voting work? 11-1 is impossible as you will have 8 teams that are in the 2nd group of 8 - are 4 allowed to vote and 4 are not allowed? There is no motivation for the fans - its mainly the fans who do not want this dont buy one yet! if we go to 8-8-8 how do you know what you are getting for your money? you will get 11 SPL games, possibly one cup game and then a lottery of possibly another 7 SPL games or 7 "championship" games against "1st division" teams
-
no............because of our early cup exits "it cost us a small fortune" faddy's wages until the end of the season are being covered by 2 directors
-
According to Neil Doncaster, "that cant happen because it would mean the clubs are giving up too much to get nothing in return". Elaborate please! Everytime the question is asked they do try to avoid it like the plague and then give an answer you would expect from a politician. What are the bits people want to keep? And what do we want to scrap or change? What is the ideal scenario? From listening to Neil Doncaster, it appears that the 1st Div clubs are really struggling financially and he wants money distributed to them as of next season. This is because they are full time clubs whereas those in the 2nd / 3rd div, run on a tighter ship and dont go throwing money they dont have to try and achieve promotion. We are only the fans - so we are not allowed to know all the important information

i go to my work to earn money - and every year i hope for a pay rise these guys are no different and shouldn't be slated for wanting to boost their own pay packs, our players aren't earning tens of thousands of £££s every week if someone offers them an extra £20/30k per year - why should they stay??? i refuse to accept that if anyone on here (unless you are an elitist and money is no object to you) was offered double / treble / quadruple their wages - they wouldnt leave for a new job - that's the chance you are getting offered at Ibrox. i'd like to see Sampson come to us as a replacement for Randz - but the St Mirren fans will be wanting him to stay, they probably dont see us as a bigger team (but low and behold Higgy came to us!! Why?) im still thinking that depending on other players signing, hopefully he will be staying on - i still think United are a threat Harkins is a very clever player - albeit far from athletic - we could do alot worse, but he left Killie as he wants to be playing every week - can we offer him that chance?
