I actually forgot Gerry Britton ever played for us... obviously I had subconciously blocked the horror out but it's back now!
-
Looks like that actually says £9.50 for any single ticket... £19 return is still better than the usual price to Dundee though I'd think.
-
I imagine that's just a copy and paste job from other matches where you can pay at the gate which really shouldn't be there. Edit: May as well add my prediction... 0-5 to the scum. 2 gutless performances in a row do not inspire much confidence, obviously hoping I'm proved wrong.

If the income was split more evenly and the majority wasn't diverted to Celtic (and Rangers eventually) then it wouldn't be that bad I don't think but I will stress again that I'm not saying we'd have all sorts of different teams winning titles in a bigger league.
-
At no point have I said that a bigger league would throw up a different winner every year as most leagues tend to be won by the team with the best players. Also, at no point did I write-off ponts against anyone. My belief is that a 16 / 18 team league would be more competitive as it would naturally allow for the better teams to compete with each other, the not so good teams to compete at the bottom and some middle of the road teams to try different players / tactics without 3 quarters of the league worrying about the fear of relegation. Looking at this purely based on teams competing with Celtic as you have though, there is the following scenarios: Current 12 team league: 38 games = 114 points to play for 4 games vs. Celtic = 12 points at stake = 10.5% of total points available Ridiculous 8-8-8 nonsense: 36 games = 108 points to play for 4 games vs. Celtic = 12 points at stake = 11.1% of total points available 16 team league: 30 games = 90 points to play for 2 games vs. Celtic = 6 points at stake = 6.66% of total points available 18 team league: 34 games = 102 points to play for 2 games vs. Celtic = 6 points to play for = 5.88% of total points available Which of these scenarios increases the chance of someone closing the gap on Celtic before even considering that teams will take points off Celtic both home and away as has already been shown this season? As an aside, which scenario decreases these chances (albeit slightly)? You could also factor in the fact that it's more likely for teams to put a run together when they're not playing teams who know them inside out by the time it comes to the 3rd / 4th game against each other. Just my opinion mind.

Despite having a maths degree (which I remember very little of) I have no intention of showing any working but perhaps the common sense approach is more important. If you are comparing a team's league performance against any other team then playing that team twice lowers the potential gap that can be established in matches between the two compared to playing that team 4 times. I may be missing something or over-simplifying and of course there will be anomalies and differences in ability which will still probably mean Celtic winning the league most years but that is the general structure of most leagues in the world is it not?

Basic maths and common sense I would think

My main question would be: are we now budgeting for European football and cup runs? And if so surely higher bonuses shouldn't be such a surprise? I'm sure I've seen somewhere that the general target is the quarters of each cup and last year we managed that in the Scottish and were one round short in the League Cup. The transfer fees and legal costs I understand but the rest seems a bit strange to me. We should maybe look at getting someone else to manage the budget because a poor league finish, early exits from the cups and nobody wanting to buy our players could mean we're finished based on this assessment.

"There was no formal vote today however as a club, we indicated our support to the SPL Executive to progress discussions with the SFL." Now I might be wrong but in my opinion you do not give your support for discussions to be progressed if you do not agree with what is being put forward. And since it has previously been stated by Doncaster that the only viable proposal is the 8-8-8 structure (and as such that is the only one being discussed) I think it's fair to come to the conclusion that our board support the 8-8-8 structure.
-
The problem for me is that the board are now going to 'discuss' this ridiculous proposal after already deciding that that want to go through with it. Not much of a discussion there. Also, surely a discussion involving other proposals such as a 16 team league would be more beneficial as the pros and cons of all the possibilities could be debated by both the SPL clubs and the respective fans groups. Instead, everything has been written off other than this nonsense 8-8-8 structure, that 99% of fans are against, simply because it guarantees 4 'old firm' games when The Rangers make it to the top league again. I'm pretty scunnered with the whole scenario and I'm sure many people feel the same, so essentially the proposed cure for the current apathy in Scottish football is actually creating more.

Why is it only the east stand the stick comes from? Sure it's the same all round the stadium... no more than at any other average team right enough!
-
I personally don't think Randolph getting a Premiership club is so far fetched... he is better than some of the dross currently plying their trade there. That aside, there is less than no chance that he will end up at Aberdeen.
-
Yep anytime I've seen him he's looked gantin! Also, has Dylan McGowan even been playing for Hearts??? His brother is decent but I'm not sure I've ever seen him play.
-
Selling Hutchy for a decent fee is all well and good but we would really need to replace him unless Saunders is fit and ready to come back in. A central defence pairing of any 2 from Cummins, Ramsden and Kerr gives me the fear!
-
Are you by any chance the guy that sat a few rows behind me in the East Stand on Saturday and did nothing but berate Murphy? Telling him he can f**k off and the like... Murphy should leave for his own sake and get a fresh start because some of the abuse he gets is ridiculous. The guy is a right footed striker who constantly gets played as a left mid and still knocks in a good few goals for us despite being totally wasted out there.
-
What we'll get for him now goes up tenfold... what's 10 x 0 again?
-
Possibly being a bit pedantic but Rhodes is now a Blackburn Rovers player.
-
I also fancy going to this game and would urge every other supporter to make the effort too... as has been said already, the players will need our support and the game is definitely there to be won. Maybe best to stay at home if you're easily offended right enough...
-
If Green was to go ahead with this £1 ticket price or whatever surely we could demand our full entitlement for a cup match (10%?) and get 5,000 fans there?! Or am I way off? Not entirely sure of the ticketing rules... If the fans wanted to they could also make a donation to the club as they are purchasing their £1 ticket at Fir Park.

I don't want to go into too much detail about last night as I'll just end up raging again but can we forget this line of "Levante finished 6th in La Liga"?! The discussion is about one leg of a european tie where we attempted some horrible tactics and the manager never had the intelligence / ability to realise it wasn't working and change it. We failed to turn up last night and the first goal would have been embarrassing for a pub team to lose never mind a professional team playing in the europa league! I also have to give special mention to Tom Hateley... why does he hit every single set-piece we get??? Even when it's set up for a left footed player he trots over and delivers his usual disappointing ball out of the park. Then there's the matter of him still pretending to be a centre mid and McCall actually encouraging this by moving him in there at the end, absolutely honkin!
-
Maybe I just seen the OAP section then... either that or the guys you seen were actually the team
-
Was on my lunch and seen some of the Levante fans kicking about outside the Radisson and across the road in the Weatherspoons. From what I seen it appears to be their older generation of fans that have bothered to travel...

Got the flights booked on Friday for this. Out Edinburgh to Alicante with Ryanair early on Wednesday morning, train to Valencia, 2 nights there, train to Barcelona on the Friday, day/night in Barcelona and back to Prestwick on Saturday afternoon with Ryanair. £145 for the flights and looks like it'll be another £45 for the trains. Booked the Eurostars Gran Valencia too, about £45 each for the 2 nights so I'm looking at £235 plus my hotel for the night in Barcelona, pretty happy with that!

Cant draw teams from the same association at this stage edit - maybe we'll finally get that trip to Brugge that's been talked about!
-
By the draw there'll be 62 teams involved... pretty sure they split the teams into groups of 4/5 seeds and 4/5 non-seeds on the morning of the draw
