  1. Ye I know that's the case and that's why we'll be at Fir Park for at least another 10 years but the point is always "I don't want a soulless one size fits all stadium" and I totally agree with that. My original point was that any Well Society would surely be able to make sure that didn't happen and the response I received was that modern purpose built stadiums dont last any longer than old cobbled together ones so why bother?
  2. I'm not much of an architect so I'm just guessing / assuming here but I'd imagine buildings can be constructed to be flexible for the future with space to expand / upgrade which we've been told is not the case with Fir Park. I would also assume that there are better materials available that would stand the test of time better than the materials used in Fir Park. Add to that the possibility of training / youth / community facilities all on the one site and I'd say it'll last at least as long as fir park has lasted with lower costs to maintain it and the potential to make money back off of it. This is all totally hypothetical but this attitude of "I've been going to Fir Park for 60 years, it has character and I don't like change" isn't going to see the club progress any. Sure this discussion has been done to death anyway...
  3. Surely if the Well Society takes off the fans will have a say in any stadium move and as such should be in a position to prevent any move to a St. Mirren type effort? Like it or not the fact is that Fir Park is done and is now more of a burden on the club than anything else... obviously it has a bit of character and history but things change all the time, if we moved to a state of the art stadium with training / youth facilities then it'd be a major step forward for the club. Not that I think it'll happen anytime in the next decade or two right enough...
  4. 1-0 Motherwell with a Tim Clancy wonder goal! Last time we finished 3rd it was 1-0 with Lappin scoring so why not?!
  5. Agreed, two footed does not automatically mean a bad challenge... for me it was from the side and wasn't studs up, never likely to cause any real injury and won the ball clean.
  6. Aye last night's music was horrendous! I'm sure there were no 'mash-ups' at the Hearts game but maybe it was just being saved for last night! There was one that was actually about 10 songs in 1... it was like someone flicking through the music channels... as for the Proclaimers effort that was just truly awful!
  7. The thing with a big crowd is if you take the lead it's all good and the atmosphere is better, however the flip side is if things don't start well there's more people to get on the players' backs. The fact that alot of people won't be regulars / only appear when things are going well means they are more likely to get annoyed if they are not being suitably entertained, so I really hope we start well and don't fall behind! Having said all that I got the score right against Hearts so hopefully I'll continue that with a prediction of a 3-1 win, OJ, Murphy and Hutchinson to score with the obligatory O'Connor goal for them.

Just seen the BBC highlights there and the second booking for Lasley is a joke, a split second and a couple of inches away from the ball in a 50/50 challenge... a foul and no more. Also, I can't remember any other fouls that Lasley committed so he has been sent off for 2 fairly innocuous fouls, poor refereeing yet again. As for the Zaliukas 'gesture', I find it ridiculous that the same fans giving the guy dogs abuse were the ones to jump up and demand he be sent off for responding in kind... as others have said, because Higdon got a ridiculous ban doesn't mean we should be encouraging more of the same. The game is far better off with a bit of back and forth between players and supporters and unfortunately there is now a lack of 'characters' in the game because of these ridiculous rules being brought in. On another note, at one point it looked like a Hearts player raised his hands to (punched?) Jennings right in front of the east stand and the linesman but he wasn't so much as spoken to, am I just seeing things that weren't actually there?

With all the chat about this game I'm starting to feel the nerves now after my initial prediction of a comfortable 3-0 win... the last couple of times I had this feeling were probably the cup final and the Odense home game... hoping for a better outcome tomorrow!

3-0 'Well OJ, Higdon & Law Get a couple of early goals and then watch that scumbag Ian Black lose the plot and get sent off for one of his ridiculous tackles...
  11. He's also behind Law, Lasley and Jennings so using this logic he's exactly where he should be... on the bench
  12. Totally sums it up for me! At the start of the season simply picking the same 11 every week and getting the luck was enough, now the luck has run out and some players aren't performing and he has no clue what to do. We seemed to have no actual game plan today and it was horrible to watch yet again. Wasnt convinced by McCall at the start and looks like he's just now got the tactical awareness needed to be a manager, a good coach / assistant perhaps but not a manager.
  13. Doesn't need to be one or the other, a Hutchy / Reynolds partnership seems alot better to me than the current one. Disappointed it hasn't worked out for Reynolds, Sheffield Wednesday clearly wasnt the right move for him but Aberdeen isn't the right move for anyone either!
  14. I'd say the problem just now is that Humphrey has found his true form... The decent couple of months he had last season is the exception rather than the rule and if anyone is offering cash we should take their hand off for it. Saying that I do think this story is complete nonsense.
  15. My prediction for this game is that it will be just as horrible as the Dundee Utd game due to the weather... only difference being a couple of goals as Hibs are decent up front but terrible at the back, the winner will be the team that's up for it despite the weather, hopefully that'll be us! 2-1 (Murphy x2)
  16. For a guy who constantly goes on about getting behing the players (well Humphrey anyway) you really do seem to have it in for Murphy! Regarding the next few games, do we not have a habbit of going through a horrible run around December / January time? Anyway, I'll say 10 points from these games and I'll be delighted... knowing us though the only one we'll lose will be the dunfermline game which should be a guaranteed 3 points.
  17. Really? Sky Sports is giving me false info then! I was a bit suprised by it but dont keep too much track when I'm at the game so just accepted it... I'll just stick to my version of the facts, Celtic do that often enough so why can't I?
  18. Noticed this myself yesterday. Unfortunately my brother is a celtic fan and had the cheek to say they were playing 12 men today! According to the sky sports stats I seen, they commited 20 fouls and received 1 yellow card where as we commited 8 and received 2 yellows and a red... so I can only assume he felt hard done by because they struggled for 80 minutes and their usual penalty never arrived.
  19. Charlie Adam? Initial talk of 4/5 million bid, Blackpool stuck to their guns, 1 or 2 other teams showed an interest and he went for 8/9 million did he not?
  20. So you can't say anything negative about guys if they're getting a game but it's ok to say our bench is weak despite hardly any of them getting a chance? At least with Humphrey and Higdon they've had plenty of chances and contributed very very little... As for Forbes he's had more time than most players get to prove he can cut it and except from a decent couple of months under Gannon he's not shown much at all, several managers have came and went with the same opinion. I'm not saying people should boo players when at games (although I would maybe make an exception for Bob Malcolm when he was here) but I agree that "passengers" is the right phrase here.
  21. Like world cup star Michael McGlinchey?
  22. It doesn't devalue it though... you still get admission to the same number of games that you signed up for and I'm sure you were also fully aware that games can be moved throughout the season when you bought your ticket. Seems like yet another "I have a season ticket therefore the club should make sure everything they do suits me" discussion, can't please everyone and contrary to popular belief, having a season ticket does not make you any more important than the next guy who goes to the games.
  23. Not sure there will be any real difference in the attendance for this game but there's also not much evidence to support the idea that more people go to Motherwell games that are on saturdays at 3pm. As for the people moaning about having other plans and it being a late change, the game is still 5 weeks away, is it just me that classes that as plenty notice?
  24. Corners = Creativity?... Sounds like the sort of nonsense i'd expect to hear from Craig Levein. "All the top teams will be trying to rack up corners in the near future"
