  1. Bet you got, "Yes, ex Rangers great, Stuart McCall".
  2. Aye but McCall doesnae come with a receipt
  3. What I maybe should have said was very happy with a top 6 (although a wee bit dampened as we had such a great run at the start) but not necesarily gutted if we miss out. This season anyway. St Mirren, Killie, ICT, Falkirk, and so on would have loved to have been where we have the last few years. Can't last forever, there has got to be downs as well as ups, but we can only hope the dips aren't too low.
  4. Spot on. Young seemed almost bored and annoyed with the whole thing. When you think back three weeks ago, the BBC reported that Billy Dodds (along with Chisholm) had been in talks with Boyle with regards to taking the top jobs. Less than 8 hours later Dodds, a BBC employee no less, is on their national radio station saying he had no idea who started the story, it was a lot of rubbish, and he was in his bed till 12pm and woke up to a lot of missed messages (including his 'gaffer' Richard Gordon) regadring what was on the BBC website. The BBC can't even confirm a story with an EMPLOYEE without running with it. All very odd. Your right, Jim.
  5. That is perhaps the beauty of it Andy. No danger of relegation (beat Accies on Sat and we will be 16 points in front of them and only 10 away from the highest ever relegation points tally) so even a very poor run in will not be the disaster it could have been. McCall has came in at a time when 3rd is gone and most fans (me included) would be content with a top 6 finish. Not as much pressure as there could have been if he had came in as gaffer in October. However, if we get beat by Accies, Dundee, and ICT, I fear he will be lost to a small proportion of the crowd already.
  6. To be honest netherton I have found the whole press coverage and interest in the job to be shameful. Or to be more accurate the BBC's reporting of it on their website and national radio station. Journalists with no knowledge of what was going on or (probably) very little interest. Obviously the OF is the big news but compared to the very accurate (and lengthy) coverage Killie and Dun Utd were getting on BBC Scotland last year what we received was very poor. Chick Young, a man who didn't have a clue at ANY stage, openly stating tonight that "Motherwell are a team on the slide" and "Aberdeen will finish above Motherwell" and "Stuart McCall is a gamble" with no hint of embarrassment with regards to how much in the dark he is about goings on at Fir Park. Now, I don't necesarily disagree with what he said it but it was said with such arrogance it is almost like he forgot for a moment which team he 'claims' to follow, how their season is going, how they treated their last manager and who they replaced him with.
  7. Ernie. Don't get me wrong. I wasn't slagging off UBH at all. Guy talks a lot of sense imo. Give it a try yourself sometime say inbetween a) breathing b) relaxing c) typing.
  8. Nae worries oh thick one..................it is the only connection he previously has with being a manager at Fir Park and my post related to UBH's post about having a regular challenge match with Bradford at Fir Park......hence the mention of the last one to happen. The match was unique in that it had one of the quickest goals I have ever seen at a live football match.........hence the mention. No rocket science is it?
  9. 'Pish' is a bit too strong for me......but certainly not impressed or filled with confidence in the slightest.
  10. You think maybe I was making comment on a Motherwell vs Bradford challenge match rather than McCall himself?
  11. Seem to remember McCall being in the away dugout at FP not that long ago and Clarky scoring after 11 seconds. Motherwell 4 Bradford 0.
  12. Agreed but I am still mortified, regardless of our off the field situation, that we went to Parkhead against a team that has dropped points at home to Dun Utd, ICT, an,d Killie in the last month and never even registered a shot or header on target. Or even got many OFF TARGET. Shameful.

    Accies V Well

I'll settle for a solid performance for the full 90 minutes and three points. Nothing less I'm afraid. 3-1 Motherwell win.
  14. In saying that he looks a right tit in that video I'm not being a doom merchant, but the next month is going to be crucial for him in terms of initial acceptance whether we like it or not. Accies away, Dundee away, ICT home, Hibs home, Rangers at Hampden. Apart from the latter all very winnable games that we need to take points from. Be interesting to see how he fairs in what will be his biggest match to date in management come the end of the month. A win and he will be a bit of a hero already. Throw a January transferwindow into the mix where he has to decide VERY QUICKLY if he can get better than Gow, Blackman, Fitzy and whether the likes of Craigan, Sutton, Jennings and so on are worth keeping in the medium to longterm, it is going to be an interesting and testing time for him. Football fans are pretty much the same. Hibs fans are already circling the wagons round Calderwood. The thing that has saved him is he hasn't had a chance to bring in his own men. McCall *might* get that opportunity a lot sooner depending on what he thinks of players we already have.
  15. Not if your not even halfway through the season.
  16. P4 W0 D0 L4 F2 A7 PTS 0 Place in history assured Nah all joking aside......good effort. Couldn't have been easy. Hope he gained something positive from the experience.
  17. Bit surprised on the length of contract. Bit of a gamble. Ideal if he is a success. Gubbed if he fails in the job. Managers are a lot harder to 'move on' than players. Glad we have an auld experienced heid in as number two. Might be missing something from the Scotland set up but what is the link between the two? Or is it as random as it seems?

    Celtic

No one stuck out for me again.
  19. I'd be surprised if a former 'Gers teammate, say a Durie, Brown, etc. wasn't our number two by Monday.
  20. You're just in denial Embrace the disappointment
  21. From the BBC website detailing his Bradford exit. Compensation chat quite unique; Bradford City boss Stuart McCall has resigned as manager of the mid-table League Two club. McCall met with joint-chairman Julian Rhodes on Monday to discuss his future after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Bury left them 16th in the table. "It has been very, very difficult. It's been a very emotional day," McCall told BBC Radio Leeds. "The easy bit was meeting Julian to sort things out and then meeting the staff and players was hard." The 45-year-old former Bantams midfielder took over at Valley Parade in May 2007 and threatened to leave at the end of last season after Bradford failed to make the play-offs. Saturday's defeat by Bury was their sixth at home this season and left the Bantams 12 points outside the play-off places. McCall added: "I had a meeting with all the players as a group and then individually and they are just disappointed with the way things have gone. "But it's not about me now, it's about the club kicking on and moving up the league. It just hasn't worked out this season. "Performances have been OK this season and we haven't got what we've deserved. But it's a results business and I haven't got enough results for this club." A compensation package has been agreed between the two parties, but McCall has refused to claim the whole amount he is due in order to help the club's finances. Last summer he took a pay-cut to help out the club. He said: "I'm hurting because it was a dream of mine to come back here and bring success. But that hasn't happened and it's not what I wanted. But least in a way I'm going away with pride and dignity intact. "The support I have received from the fans has been unbelievable and I want to thank them for everything. I couldn't ask any more from them and they couldn't have given me anymore, but unfortunately I haven't been able to give them the results they deserved."
  22. Resignation my good man......pure resignation.
