A quick short term appointment would be a concern after two weeks of receiving applications and conducting interviews. If Plan A has fallen through and it looks like no one man in particular is plan B it is either McCall or Calderwood, people who are unemployed who will probably accept the financial liabilities of the club. Just the way I see it mind.......but a wee but if concern creeping in if recent reports are true.

Deepest condolences.

So Sbragia is tbe man we want. According to tbe BBC Stubbs wasn't intetviewed. Hartson? I would be raging if he became our manager.
-
Wouldn't mind it being off but the pain would just be in the post. At that point we will need to rearrange 5 matches. Plus Accies game could be a casualty then IF we get a wee run in the Scottish Cup it could be a very difficult second half to the season with regards to injuries etc.

Radio Clyde reporting game in serious doubt. Kinda obvious to us out this way. Would be surprised if the game goes ahead.
-
Still nowt on the morning radio. Never known such secrecy.
-
As far as I know he WAS interviewed. Just as others have pointed out if he was joining us it probably would be big news in Irish Sports pages.
-
I'd imagine it would be big news in the Irish press. Even Chic Young would find it impossible not to blindly stagger face first into that story.
-
Stubbs NOT interviewed according to BBC. Interesting.

Scottish Football's answer to 'Guess Who'. Does he wear glasses?

Two MASSIVE freshly dug snow hills either side of you though eh?

Recently discussed on Sportsound. "Motherwell are reportedly very close to finalising the contract of the new manager and making an announcement and he should be in place for Boxing Day" was pretty much the chat. Chick Young came back with "I don't know who it is". Neither does Craig Paterson.....a man with more than a few pals at the club. Amazing really. Fenlon, McCall, and Calderwood were the only names mentioned on air. Means nothing though when journalists making a living from covering Scottish football don't have a clue who the new man is 24 (or so) hours before the announcement for a job that has been vacant for two weeks.

I take it the weather made sure this never actually happened? Either way they are still looking to get him. Ayr United boss Brian Reid needs more players Dec 17 2010 by Mike WIlson, Ayrshire Post (main ed) WORRIED Ayr boss Brian Reid fears he could run out of players as the big freeze continues to bite. Loan youngsters Danny McKay, Scott Taggart, Stephen Reynolds and Stuart Bannigan are due to return to their clubs at the turn of the year. And a move for Motherwell defender Shaun Hutchinson is now up in the air after Craig Brown’s departure from Fir Park. Reid revealed: “We could be down to 14 players, two of whom are goalies. And that includes youngsters like Aaron Connolly and Ross Robertson. “The Board know that I need to bring in players and they have always been very supportive. But times now are the toughest I have ever known. “If I can bring in two or three more, I feel we could push on for the league title but, if not, we will be in the hands of the Gods if we run into suspensions and injuries especially when we face two games a week.” Reid is well down the road on plans to bring in a striker while Kilmarnock defender Gavin Brown is a likely January target. But it’s the loss of play anywhere Dean Keenan, recovering from cruciate ligament surgery, which has hit the squad hardest.

Agree and disagree with this. The way this situation has been handled has not been ideal from a Motherwell F.C. and Steve Jennings perspective. We know how incompetent the people in power in Scottish Football can be etc. but imo there simply must be more to this that certain organisations (SFA, Motherwell, Player's Union, Press) are in the know about but can't legally comment on. For the nods and winks to be so heavily pointed towards Jennings I would not be surprised if there is something that hasn't been declared yet that further implicates him. For betting companies to be so vocal, so early, regarding winning bets that financially were a mere drop in the ocean to them was a major point straight away. I'm doing my best to be as impartial as possible in all of this.....there must be a reason that the ref hasn't been drawn in to the question. Legally, there must be I mean. The main reason I can come up with is there is so much circumstantial evidence pointing in the direction of Jennings that it is obvious (or as obvious as it can be without the very hard to obtain concrete evidence) he is implicated. Again things are very quiet from all parties on this. Too quiet. This will not go away. How Jennings reacts when/if he is cleared will be interesting. If he isn't cleared (an option that is likely) the consequences will be very brutal for him. Reasoning his 'guilt' in my head I could only really think of the one scenario. (If he is guilty) Jennings could have told friends/family/ex team mates etc. his intention of getting sent off in the match. People who knew this could stick a few quid on it and get a very nice bonus for Xmas. I dont miss many 'Well games home or away and to the best of my memory I don't recall him getting subbed many times, if at all. On that basis, barring injury, he has 90 minutes to 'play with'. Jennings gets booked very early on (to set up the red) and walks a tightrope for the rest of the match. Very similar situation to Michael Higdon at New St Mirren Park a few weeks ago.....not that I'm saying he is guilty of such an offence Now Jennings having set up the 'scam' knows he has to walk ANYTIME before the 90. As the game progresses we are getting beat and Jennings obviously doesn't want this to happen. He stays on the park for as long as possible but 'bails out' (as he has planned) near the end knowing full well that he 'has' to do it and that this is the action which has pretty much guaranteed the defeat......hence the locker room frustrations. Very few things a footballer can 'guarantee' on a football park. Scoring a goal? Scoring an own goal? Winning a match? Losing a match? All these rely on other players to a certain extent. Giving away a penalty or getting sent off are the two where you can pretty much rely on yourself and yourself alone. The former is much harder than the latter........especially if you are a central midfielder.

Good point actually. However it would be the Celtic game on Wednesday. Same goes for Gow and Fitzy. Reynolds, Craigan, Jennings (maybe), and Sutton can all talk to other clubs......probably after the Accies game for this bunch right enough.
-
True, but I'm not sure how much input Brown/Knox had with regards to our youth player's football (pretty sure they will train together) and who we did or didn't sign. Very little I'd imagine. All of that will be done by Young and Jenks. From there you will get recommendations made to the gaffer about who is ready to step up etc. The gaffer should be concentrating on bringing in his own experienced new faces to the club.
-
Isn't "nurturing the youth" Gordon Young's job? Call me auld fashioned but surely we require what we just lost namely a gaffer that is a half decent tactician with good man management skills (with a keen eye for a player) and an assistant that takes training eveyday and is a bit of a hard taskmaster (with a keen eye for a player).

The highly reliable and bastion of truth that is the Daily Record 'report' that the interview process ended on Monday. McCall, Sutton, Sbragia, Fenlon, and Stubbs (IIRC) were the names being decided on. Now, has the full interview process been completed or was that just round one? Some are hinting at Stubbs, others at Sbragia, while certain people claim to have been told it is Fenlon. Either way I do expect it to be one of those three. I have no idea which one I would prefer to get the job.
-
Probably for the best. I am far from convinced the game on Sunday will actually take place.
-
I thought he was Caretaker after Keane, they offered him the job but he didn't want it. Could be wrong though. Think we will hear something official or leaked tomorrow.
-
It isn't like that though. Your analogy has a two team story. The SPL would give the same starting point to 10 or 12 teams, each aware of what is in front of them. In your story there is quite literally nothing to play for until the last 5 minutes. In the 'Play Off' style SPL the teams would need to work pretty much all season to get in/out of the 'Play Off' place. Only the top four or bottom four reach a clean slate. Teams either missed on on the top due to bad form or the bottom due to a run of results. It is a far from perfect template but not as simple as you make out. Every team would be playing for something until the 'PlayOff' scenario kicks in. It WOULD be exciting and would probably result in similar results to what we get just now........but I'm pretty sure it won't happen.

X about 100.

Don't worry Steve your not alone. I haven't a clue either.

Something you wish to confirm Steve?

I'm sure Boyle and Dempster shudder at the thought of dealing with Cardiff again.
