  1. This thread has turned brilliant. Keegan would be brilliant, however (and sadly) it won't be him, Phil Brown, Martin O'Neill, Ricky Sbragia, Chris Hughton, Sam Allardyce, or, Gary Megson. Or Billy Dodds (hopefully). Calderwood or Stubbs in my opinion. Won't be disappointed if I'm wrong right enough and it is someone else. Won't be from the above list though no matter how much milk and cookies we leave out for Santa.
  2. Club will probably lose out on a fair bit of income if this game gets cancelled. Boxing Day, 3pm kick off, game not on the TV or a random Tuesday night in say January? No brainer that one I think. Fingers crossed this one gets the go ahead. Should see a big crowd at this one
  3. Wee bit off the subject but Killie played Hibs yesterday, 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, not live on TV, and with the home side playing their best football in a number of years. Crowd was just over 4,200 according to the papers. Very poor.
  4. Seems to be pretty much nowt with respect to the vacancy in the Sunday papers.
  5. For what it is worth here is a section from today's Daily Record; The Lanarkshire club have been interviewing candidates and other names in the frame include Gus MacPherson, Chris McCart, Stuart McCall, Jimmy Calderwood, Pat Fenlon and John Hughes. Seems unlikely due to compensation.
  6. Seems Motherwell are quite keen to form a working partnership with Everton. Makes you wonder what Stubbs has offered Motherwell right enough.
  7. On ebay; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIGNED-MATCH-WORN-RO...=item1c17fa3063
  8. Collins, Calderwood, Hughes, Sutton, McCall, Stubbs.............almost seems like a bleeding role requirement.
  9. Daily Record is going down the Chris Sutton route but won't say anything more than he is a leading candidate.
  10. Aye thanks for the PM but I am well aware of his battles. I did miss a from my original post before I actually made my (unlinked) point about Stubbs. Just let me clear something up though. I am not easily offended, I find Frankie Boyle hilarious, I don't know Stubbs, cancer has affected my family, madwullie's line was funny to me. Hope that answers most of your questions.
  11. Alan Stubbs? Cannae get anymore outside tbe box than that! Concerned regarding lack of experience right enough.
  12. Wee bit of what Leeann Dempster said (new manager will be in place for Rangers game) and the way the tabloid media react to a vacant managerial position that is open for anything more than a few days (week or so of chucking random names into the mix before a source gives them a shortlist, they play with that for a day or two then they find out who the leading candidate is and generally announce it before the contracts have been signed). Also my own opinion based on the fact the club will no doubt be looking to give the new man a couple of days at the club to prepare as best he can for the Rangers, Celtic, and, Accies games.
  13. Good post. Regardless, I expect the wait is coming to an end. The manager should be in place by Wednesday/Thursday at the latest. There will be two or three names heavily linked to the job by Monday, come Tuesday the rumours will be rife regarding who has the job.
  14. Spot on and is probably the biggest problem. No one, who we know of that is in contention, is a stick out for the vacancy.
  15. Don't get me wrong I love it when other clubs want our manager........would be nice if they all didn't piss off/want to piss off at the slightest hint of an '80s giant' in danger.
  16. 3rd and a Cup Final is pretty exceptional returns in my opinion however would I be bothered? Probably. A part of me would be wanting him to kick on and get that League Cup win etc. However you mentioned 18 months. The nonsense surrounding McGhee kicked in SIX MONTHS after he joined us and we never got a year out of Brown. Hell, Gannon was being linked to jobs down South, by the BBC amongst others, after about two months up here. Someone staying for five years doesn't need to be mediocre. Big Tel certainly wasn't. It would be good if we got behind a manager fully (including through the bad) and he committed himself to us for 3 or so years and even when things were going well the desire and loyalty was there to makes things even better.
  17. Even Leeann Dempster said it at the MST night............we need and are long overdue managerial stability. We, collectively, bemoaned McGhee for having his eye on Hearts, Scotland, Celtic, and, ultimately, Aberdeen. Same again with CB when he went up North. Both highly unsettling episodes for the entire club. I'd like to attract a manager who wouldn't see sticking around Motherwell for the length of time Terry Butcher did as a bad move. It would appear to me certain people (McGhee and Brown) got us to a level they felt, for one reason or another, was as far as they could take us and they then got out when their stock was high in an effort to protect a reputation and career. How much HIGHER would a manager's stock be if they built a Motherwell team up to a successful level TWICE during his spell in charge? Now lets get to John Hughes. A man who whilst the manager of Falkirk REPEATEDLY and disrespectfully spoke of his desire to manage in England. He treated the Falkirk fans the same way McGhee treated us. Hughes is a man who spoke of putting this ambition of managing in England on the back burner when appointed manager of HIS boyhood team. A man who made an utter mess of a club that should be a lock for the 3rd place every year in the SPL due to finances and youth set up. If Hughes was appointed as our manager and was successful he would be off quicker (or at the very least as quick) than McGhee and Brown were.......especially if a hint of a half decent job in the Championship/excellent job in League came up. He is at a stage where his career has stalled big time and he is further from managing in England now than he was when he was in charge of Falkirk. John Hughes is NOT the answer. We need someone ambitious, but also someone who can wait more than 1-2 years for that 'big move'..........which as recent history shows doesn't always work out. Say what you want about Billy Reid (and I do )but in the summer he reportedly knocked back Swansea to stay at Accies. An utterly thankless job with zero chances of ANY success, unless you count not getting relegated. Sounds unbelievable to me but that is apparently what happened. We could do with some of that longevity/loyalty. We WON'T get it from Hughes.
  18. Not confirmed yet actually........but it will be off.
