  1. Wonder if Brown didn't rate him or it was financial e.g. we don't have the money just now and Weston couldn't hang about to see how we would do in Europe. I have a feeling it could be the latter. BTW noticed Killie have signed a Portugese winger who was released from CSKA Sofia. I take it after all this talk of Killie not having a pot to piss in they might still have a bigger budget than we do??
  2. I thought he did. Keeper pulled off a great save to deny Fitzy scoring from a lob and he took his headed goal very well. Apart from that was solid in midfield. Should get his chance soon.
  3. It was only a matter of time
  4. Goalscorers were Smith (did well to nip in between defender and keeper and curl the ball into the corner), McHugh (although it looked 50/50 between him and Smith as they both collided with the Bathgate keeper), Fitzy (good header from a corner), and McHugh (low drive into the corner), in that order. Bathgate were not a bad side although Motherwell deserved to win in the end. Humphrey played at RB and didn't look comfortable at all. I'll be surprised if Fitzy doesn't get a chance in the first team soon. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Motherwell front two of Smith and McHugh at some point.
  5. Now 4-2. Team is a mix. Humphrey, Fitzy, Page, Hutch, etc and youth team.
  6. 3-1 Motherwell at halftime.
  7. That is a fair point. I am not sure how that would work. To be honest if Cardiff are unable to stump up the remaining cash I'm not sure how it gets resolved.
  8. 1. How much did we pay for John Sutton, Steve Jennings, Chris Humphrey, Giles Coke, Tom Hateley, and, Darren Randolph to name only a few? 2. Nobody is in a state of panic. Whether we do have the players to compete in the SPL (certainly to the standard of the last few years) is, as of yet, unknown. 3. Which shows you how important the money is to the club.
  9. So there is no point in using that money, if it is to be used in this way, to add to the squad for the start of the SPL campaign (two weeks tomorrow and ultimately the club's main priority) which is BEFORE the Play Off round takes place?
  10. Again, you are the only one that has mentioned the money being linked to 'administration'/our survival. No one else. We NEED this money for mundane necesary things like bills and wages. As weeyin has stated it might also allow us to add another two or so players to the squad (loan deals or released players), which in turn could help greatly in achieving another Euro qualification/top 6 finish and/or going on a good domestic cup run. The money, in that respect, is vital to the club.
  11. Ah, ok. So the money IS important. You CAN actually see that now?
  12. If you mean group stages after Aaeslund then, yes. Another two legged affair (in which Dun Utd will join the competition) then the group stages. Chances are we might need to beat Man City, Juventus, Liverpool, Dortmund, PSV, and so on to get to this point. We'd need to be as jammy as Aberdeen a few years ago to pull this off.
  13. Thought I'd heard something like that. Cheers Wellfan.
  14. At what point though (if any for that matter) could we 'ask' for the return of Paul Quinn if Cardiff can't actually pay the full amount?
  15. Would need to get past the next lot first and that will be a massive ask. How good are Palermo? I know nothing about them. Haven't Real Mallorca been replaced by Villarreal or someone else?
  16. Fair play. Thought we would have done well to have about 30 there.
  17. There would be a certian irony if we progressed and we were paired with BATE Borisov. I can confirm Brown and Knox have already seen them in action this season.........and weren't overly impressed Wouldn't be the ideal trip though as mentioned.
  18. Didn't realise it would cause us to abandon football altogether right enough You mentioned administration. Nobody else. Again, do you realise how important £100,000 is to the club over a year? Right now the club are greatly pushing player sponsorship (more than any other year I can remember) through repeated adverts on the official website, twitter, emails, and, phone calls. Although that is for the massive sum of £275 a shirt so naw the £100,000 won't be useful in any way
  19. Not too surprised as Archdeacon just didn't seem to feature in the plans of Gannon/Brown at all. In saying that very best of luck to all three. Wonder how much cash has been freed up by these moves.
  20. But possibly way too expensive for most. I was lucky enough to get to Iceland, but I can appreciate our ties so far haven't been the easiest, financially, to get to. France, Germany, England, Italy etc. would do me IF we got through.
  21. The ICT top is easily one of the worst.
  22. You really have little concept of how little money we have or how much we need, do you?
  23. This might not be true either. I asked this question yesterday and it was met with a "Don't know yet". I don't think many will take the club shop up on their offer of putting a sponsor on the shirt. Having to pay for it? Nowt chance.
  24. Suppose it would depend on on how much we get. Euro tops are more special imo and if we got to the £345 mark I'd say go for one of them. If we are really struggling to get near that (would appear to be the case) then the one 'we' have been allocated is good.
