I'll second that!

Looking like a straight from Ibrox to Fir Park jaunt then on the 9th.
-
Spot on. Not sure how they would do it this year though. Last year our final game was on the Saturday and there was a clearout on the Sunday. This year we have the final game at Ibrox then the Sponsors night on the Sunday. Maybe something they could do the following Saturday?? Either way I think it brought in about £1,500 (IIRC) for the club last year.

After the amount of times I've seen us getting drubbed? Chance would be a fine thing Whilst I agree that a some of the comments on here after the game was a bit OTT (fans let the team down thread springs to mind), I was at the game and was a bit gutted by the result. I personally thought the team let the small amount of fans who did go down. That is mainly because I believe we are a really good side on our day and that we CAN go to Glasgow and pick points up. That seemed to be a belief the players didn't have themselves when we actually went in front. However, that is another debate. IMO ML1 makes valid points. I am always way more diappointed by a Motherwell defeat if I have witnessed it in person rather than having updates via the internet or watching it on TV. People who are at the games specifically, react to defeats in different ways. Some are pessimistic, some are optimistic. Some come on here and post straight after the game, whilst others wait till later on that day, or even the next day. Some posts are positive and some are negative. That will never change. However, come the next game we are all pretty much to a person 100% behind the players. No one needs reminded of how small a club we are or what we are unlikely to achieve. No one doubts that even if we don't win another game then this season was still a big success. Right now though it has the potential to be very successful for us. People who were on here moaning after the game are probably the LEAST likely to 'go and support someone else' due to the fact they could have sat at home and watched it on TV but elected to pay £25 to see it in the ground. Fair amount of effort and committment and like ML1 says if they have an opinion (positive or negative) fair enough......either way I'd like to hear it. I'd rather have passion of some description than total apathy.

Yes, I think I will. Thanks for the permission Jeez I wonder. What with me saying I'd knock him down and everything it isn't really too clear if I was being serious

Sent a text in today to Off the Ball on the very subject. John Boyle was one of the guests. My question was whether we would suffer when it comes to negotiating players contracts ie Jennings and Hateley or whether the inevitable sale of Reynolds is being taken into account and will take care of these matters. Reynols point was neatly sidestepped but he did concede the players contracts would be impacted a bit and they have scheduled a board meeting for Monday to discuss this and other matters.

Motherwell fan? In Aberdeen? I would have thought, support your LOCAL team ya wee tyke 'cause you are what is wrong with football today. I would then have driven my car onto the kerb, clipped his scooter, sending him hurtling to the deck and watched him greet in my rear view mirror as I drove off "Motherwell have punched well above their weight for decades, and many of you lot have been spoiled beyond belief, and deserve." Am I the only one that finds some of this condescending?

Eh?? Naw we widnae. We would need to be reliant on winning games AND Hibs dropping points. Having something 'in your own hands' means it doesn't matter what other teams do. Unlikely, but at the point, if we win all of our remaining games we will be guaranteed to finish in an automatic Europa League place.
-
Hate to say it but indeed. The fact they beat us and Hibs this week has made them certs for 2nd. If we can't finish 4th then that is one part of the 'Euro puzzle' complete. It is now in our hands for fourth though. The next two games are massive. Really looking forward to this tomorrow.

Just had a text message read out by Tam Cowan to John Boyle on Off the Ball. Boyle had stated the lack of an OF home match after the split has had a "catastrophic" effect on Motherwell and instead of making a profit for this year we will now operate at a loss. My message concerned the effect this would have on contract negotiations with Hateley and Jennings or whether the near certain sale of Reynolds would take care of everything. Obviously, I got no joy with regards to the Reynolds part but he did admit that what has happened WILL have an effect on contracts and there is a board meeting set for Monday to discuss this. Ultimately, the SPL might have done us a bit more than we originally thought.

Oooft not even close!!

You CAN see why you got chucked out though?
-
FFS You started a thread that had great comic potential then totally ruined it by clearly highlighting it as a total wind up. I'm all for suspension of disbelief but even I can't pretend you never said that. Clown

I too can confirm rumours and stories of Dougie Imrie being a pant shitter. Might have unveiled this poster already. EDIT: Bit of irony that the ad at the bottom of this thread is for the Samaritans!

Motherwell to win 3-2. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet against Utd on Sunday if Fraser is playing. Hope I'm wrong.
-
Aye those bad lads fae Ferniegair are glory hunting gits!! Great thread
-
Indeed. There is no way anyone who supports a club who has the second worst home support in the history of the SPL (number one went bust by the way Imrie boy) and have NEVER finished in the top six and have spent two seasons in about the last 20 in the top tier of Scottish football, thinks they could come out with that and be taken seriously Good attempt though at stoking up a rivalry.

Barnsley will blow us out the water when it comes to wages.
-
Good stuff. Promising news about Craigan, Jennings, and Hateley as well. I think Crags will stay, never in doubt imo, but I would be over the moon if Jennings and Hateley stayed at Fir Park a bit longer. If O'Brien gets even a sniff of the Championship he will be off like a shot. I think he will disappear down there right enough. Would like to see Coke stay a wee bit longer as he has potential. Murphy as well but the lad seriously needs to bulk upover the summer if he is to be a first choice pick for us next season. I thought Saunders signed a new long term deal in the summer. Hopefully get more news in the next week or so.
-
I like Ruddy but he has let us down on a good few occasions against the 'bigger' teams in the SPL most notably Rangers at Ibrox and Fir Park, Dun Utd at Tannadice, Hearts at Tynecastle, and Hibs at Fir Park. During thise games we picked up one point. However, at it is a big however I believe we would be in a much worse position if Fraser had played all season and Ruddy wasn't with us. A First Division/back up standard goalie but NEVER, EVER, a first choice SPL keeper.

Paying £15 is great but what effect would that have on the wage structure at the club and what kind of player could we then afford. I'm not sure the club could afford to drop £7.00 per head (curent ticket prices are £22 I think) on every fan over, say 20(ish) home games a season. Say the club got 5,500 through the doors (taking OF games into account over the season this might be below the average we get). That would be a loss of £38,500 a match. Multiplied by 20 and you are looking at a loss of £770,000 a season on tickets. Quite staggering when you put it like that. It is a small saving for each fan on a weekly basis but it is a MAJOR hit to the club that would no doubt reflect on the quality on the pitch which would in turn lead to punters questioning the value for money aspect. Vicious circle.

Still think it is wishful thinking mate. What do Rangers need? Two wins from the next five? I wouldn't trust that Celtic lot to win every game either.

I'll be renewing next year. Surprised nothing has been on the official site yet.
