  1. You see that is the kind of chat I hope will make you feel really stupid at EXACTLY 4:45pm on Saturday
  2. Now that wouldn't be the dumbest thing to do either.................
  3. Agreed.....and if it WAS Stokes then I personally would be satisfied with that. Proven record up here before and no reason why he couldn't do it again. I just hope whoever Gannon gets it is for the season and not until Jan 1st. How do people interpret this quote from the BBC article; "A rock-solid, steady right-back who can contribute significantly defensively and a little bit going forward is a real priority for us, and another attacking player who can give us a different edge up front," he said. So he is looking to sign a striker before Saturday and get in a right back and a winger/midfielder before the deadline closes?
  4. EPL reserve striker is good and all that......but truth be known I'd rather have a League One striker on a permanent deal than something short term. It is a position we need stability. Maybe even more so than defence imo. Obviously if there is nothing in the market it can't be done. Maybe Gannon sees the potential in McHugh and Murphy and believes an EPL youngster will have a lot to prove up here and take the chance to shine. I suppose I just fear another Sheridan situation as I thought both games he scored in aside, he was utter gash.
  5. Aye and look at thae hauns! Youngster my arse!!!
  6. Won't he be playing on Friday though? I'm not convinced at this point Gannon is ready to throw him into a match from the start.
  7. It is but I'd swap O'Brien and Slane around. If, as I said Slane is fit. I'd expect a better delivery from Slane, and as I should have said in my previous post, Murphy to sit RIGHT BEHIND Sutton to feed off the knock downs from the million headers he is sure to win.
  8. Agree with your earlier post but not necesarily this one. If I remember right we had one point out of a possible nine after the first three games last season. Add to that our first win was away to Hibs, which is never easy, goes to show the unpredictable nature of our league. Top two aside. Hamilton and Falkirk will be the big strugglers imo this season. I expect Killie, St Mirren, and S Johnstone to have fairly comfortable seasons but with no real fear of the drop. I'm fairly apprehensive about Saturday. First game at Fir Park and against a team that pretty much owned us last season. Sure defensively they aren't the best but I'd be delighted with a striker like Kyle in our side. Both teams will score. For me that is a given. I'd be over the moon wth a win of any margin......but wouldn't be upset with a draw either. Heart says 3-2 win for us. Head says another 2-2 draw. I'd play; Ruddy Hateley, Craigan, Hutchinson, Hammell (I'd play him as he has LOTS to prove) Reynolds Slane Forbes Coke Murphy Sutton Depending on how things were going I'd look to swap O'Brien (if fit) for Slane/Murphy and McHugh for Sutton. Possibly even Humphrey for a defender and going 4-5-1.
  9. Season 2005-2006 I think Wellfan. The season that started off with a 4-4 draw at Celtic. Last minute goal for Celtic. We then beat Dunfermline 1-0 at Fir Park. Last minute Jim Hamilton goal. 4-1 defeat at Rugby Park and then one of the most frustrating games I have ever been to.....Motherwell 4 Dun Utd 5. After that I'm sure we conceeded a ton between 85-90 mins played. A horrible season for that. A last minute Paul Hartley penalty in front of the away fans sticks in my mind. That game with Hearts finished 2-2 and I'm sure we were 2-0 up with less than ten minutes left.
  10. 82 mins....I think. Not close enough to the end
  11. It will most likely be someone we have NEVER heard of. Now I'm just about to go for a run so I when I'm finished I have plenty room for my words. In case they need eating!!
  12. Again was only going over the last three seasons mate. Good work Wellfan! Certainly a couple of last minute goals there I had forgotten about. Last minute winners though? Quite surprising how rare they have become as of late. MUST be due one!
  13. oops Now fixed. Might need to edit your quote EDIT - Didn't include Skippy Sunday as it was, sadly, quite a wee while ago now and was thinking recent seasons e.g. Gannon, McGhee, and Malpas. Three and a tiny wee bit!!!
  14. I was there for McBride's. Believe that was December 31st 2005.....I think? Your right Frazzle they are plenty without a doubt. Scores of them in fact. However in the last TWO YEARS or so we have HARDLY scored a goal between 85-90 mins. To my memory anyway. That must be fairly unusual. Darren Smith against Celtic in Malpas' season as manager and Clarkson against Killie is all I can recall off the top of my head. Both were last minute. Two last minute goals in three years..................??? Celtic obviously have a reputation for the last minute goal/winner. Wonder what would make a team like Celtic over perform in this way and for us to under perform? Apart from them being jammy bast...................
  15. No doubt he is a cracking prospect....but I see McHugh being more of a pick for next season.
  16. Recently I have been thinking about games won at the death. Even goals scored at the very end of a match even if they don't make a difference to the result. Last year Inverness scored a penalty against us at Fir Park in the last minute, although they went down 3-2. Kilmarnock, Hearts, and St Mirren all got late goals against us away from home in the league and cup which saw us lose on each occasion. Fom memory Sutton (Hibs away), McLean (Killie home), Clarkson (Hibs away), and Malcolm (Inverness away) all scored last season between 78-82 minutes to either get a draw or win the match. When was the last time Motherwell scored ANY goal (in a competitive match) between 85 - 90 minutes played? I'm racking my brains (haven't yet checked the net/programs etc) but I'm thinking season 2007-2008 when Davie Clarkson scored a 90th minute winner against Kilmarnock in a 1-0 win at Fir Park. This was the game McCormack put a first half penalty past the post. Can anyone remember any more recent late, late, goals for the 'Well? I'm half creating this post in an attepmt to emulate a previous one. Can't remember who it was but someone created a 'Motherwell hatrick' thread a couple of days before the game against Flamurtari in Airdrie. Genius. Here is to Forbes unleashing a 25 yard screamer in the 89th minute to sink Killie on Saturday!
  17. Would be hoping ANY loan signing is for the season. I am not a fan of 6 month loan deas and I'm not convinced they work.
  18. Finlay

    Canterbury

Aye but he'll still wear the green yin. Hopefully
  19. Hopefully some Championship side will snatch Kyle for a ridiculously low fee on Friday. The defence will need to be at its best for him. If they play like some of them did today he will have a field day. God knows who Gannon will put on him.
  20. It's NOT the end.....but this statement is also true.
  21. Voted best ever SPL goal if I remember correctly!!
  22. Aye Cannae believe I forgot that one. Apologies. My error!!!
  23. Are you counting his goal against Rhyl? He has scored three in competitive games. Two against Flamurtari and one today. One of the goals against the Albanians was a penalty. A good goal.....but not a screamer.
  24. Aye and the best from Slane and Forbes. Young players with an eye for goal, not afraid to shoot, and can burst the net!!! Crackin'!
  25. What a total arse Ruddy made of that 50/50 outside the box!!!
