When is the game against Concordia Chiajna?
-
Was there not another game against Chinese opposition...........or am I talking complete piss?
-
Maybe Falkirk are spreading rumours about other Clubs playing at their ground so we will all turn up to watch the Bairns by accident. Sneaky!
-
Indeed. I'll be honest if it was me and Motherwell went belly up in a similar and very dodgy fashion, I'd be scunnered and totally finished with going to the fitba week in, week out. I'd attend the odd 'big' fixture that I could get tickets to/interested me but the last thing I could see myself doing is turning up at New Douglas Park and support a Club that, whilst would have accepted my team back in the SPL, its fans were nearly 100% adamant that they wanted to see it die. Bitter, scunnered, fed up, disgusted - check. New all consuming hobby - check
-
Aye but you'll be a score down 'cause of it
-
I thought that would have been up to the early bird option ended. You might be lucky and it could still be free.

Hammell and Lasley could have been approached by anyone. Hibs and Aberdeen have shite teams until they have a good one. Surely that process is trying to sign players like Hammell and Lasley. Dun Utd might have wanted them. They could offer more money and Europe......but not a testimonial year. Since the last time we took part in European competition we have slashed the playing budget twice. This year was £200,000 alone. That is BEFORE the Rangers situation but now is the time to get Faddy and Clarkson back for 'reasonable wages' and put them 'in the shop window'? Sure they could offer us a better chance at the money end of European competition but we can't afford to get them in the team let alone face the consequences of getting papped out by a team from a more financially stable league with a much bigger budget with them on the wage bill. If we draw Liverpool in the EL Playoff Round then Faddy and Clarkson won't make a difference. So do we sign them and release them depending on who we get, or ask them to stay free agents until the draw has been made? Sorry, David I'm just covinced you don't have a handle on how dire the financial situation isfor us.
-
Sorry mate Not trying to be a buzzkill. I know we took advantage of Ranger's situation by nicking their European spot..........but how ironic would it be if we ended up in a gubbed financial position just like them by 'chasing the dream'. No' worth it. Anyway, the lads we have got us to third. If we get a kind enough draw in the EL Playoff Round who knows???
-
Gamble on luck? Not a chance. Your argument also appears to have shifted. Firstly it was gambling on a signing to progress us to the money round of Europe. Now it is reasonable wages with someone who wants to put themselves in the shop window. Faddy and Clarkson, for example, would be wanting a wee bit more than 'reasonable wages' and will likely get offered that down South. Or at Hibs. We just lost a player to them remember......so called 'reasonable wages' might be outside our grasp at the moment. I'm also convinced that if Lasley and Hammell weren't getting lucrative testimonial years as well we could have lost them too. Lasley has went on the record as saying he got better offers from other Clubs. Also the kind of player you describe is hardly going to make the difference between the CL group stages or the EL group stages and us getting eliminated in a QF round. Lets give it a go with what we currently have (depending on Jennings' situation). If we sell Murphy then we need another striker......but it is not going to be someone who dramatically boosts our chances in Europe. Europe is a cracking distraction for us all....the real worries and concerns for the Club and US will be the two domestic competitions and the SPL.

Kinda what stuwell said. There is no way the Club is going to gamble on something that the Old Firm have routinely failed to achieve over the last few years. Rangers, with a much bigger budget last year, got pumped out the CL and EL in rapid fashion. Celtic, also were out the EL pretty quickly but obviously got reinstated. CL and EL is obviously a bonus.....but like St Johnstone, Dundee United, and, Hearts we will be hoping to get as far as possible with what we have and try to earn a few quid along the way. What I can assure you of is our board NOT gambling with an overdraft getting into the group stages as whether we like it or not it is far too risky a strategy for our Club. If we weren't going to do it in 2010 there is NO CHANCE of us doing it in 2012.
-
If I was Stevie Hammell I'd be pestering him like hell to play in the testimonial. That alone would put a good few £ on his earnings. Pretty sure that will happen. Hammell has even made mention on twitter about one or two looking for a game. Whilst jokey it would be a nice touch for Faddy to turn out for a mate in such a 'big' game.

MJC will be on here in a flash........but I'll believe it when I see it. I think he WILL turn out for us against Everton.......but a competitive fixture I'm not convinced.
-
Aye, its not the type of business we do 'cause it is mental and this season has the potential to gub us financially. Whether he is a quality player not doesn't matter. It is a decision that is purely based on finance and I'm not sure you get that. The Club can't afford him at this moment. They likely won't be able to afford him if they punt Murphy for £200,000. There is no way the Club are going to take a gamble progressing to the lucrative rounds in European competition. Thankfully.
-
Cracking pic that.
-
So what do you think we can offer him now? My guess would be heehaw. We are in no position to offer anyone anything substantial right now and if we were it HAS to be towards a guy that would be replacing Jennings. Signing a striker BEFORE we move one out the door isn't exactly the most sound of business strategies espcially given the current financial situation.
-
Aye, but until Murphy goes we can't even THINK about bringing anyone in. Secondly, the money we do get for him, based on a previous bid, will likely go straight into the bank with a free agent on low wages or a cheapish loan deal taking his place. Granted, Clarky currently has no Club but I'd imagine a League 1 or League 2 Club will be interested and with current circumstances we have no chance of keeping up with them. Three years of Championship level wages offers a level of lifestyle that he won't want to give up either. He won't be in a rush to make a move but he still has plenty of time. Time will tell but imo we have absolutley no chance of securing Clarkson's services for the 2012-13 season. Time will tell.
-
Aye, not the ideal scenario but better than going down to London to find out they have swapped your Saturday matinee show to Sunday at 12pm all with about three weeks notice when the original dates had been 'set in stone' for months. A shambles but not just restricted to our league.
-
Spot on. No way we should be replacing a midfielder like Jenno with a striker when we currently have Higdon, Murphy, Ojamaa, and McHugh.
-
Will never work as long as TV is around imo. We still need to grt them to realise that announcing a rime and date for a fixture months and advance then changing it with a few weeks to go to suit TV is totally unacceptable. No other 'entertainment industry' would have the utter arrogance to do this then wonder why attendances are falling. It is bad enough when this happens for home matches but for it to affect an 'away season ticket' every other week would further annoy the fans. We all work more anti social hours/days now and some, including myself, put in a LOT if effort to get to as many games as possible. The above problem needs to be addressed before the introduction of an additional season ticket.

Cheers.

I take it is not a closed vote. The Club will know how each member votes? When is the form to be returned by?
-
Could be taking place up Dalziel Park right enough.
-
Still waiting on an announcement there.
-
Could see the players who have joined up going with a YES vote to be honest. Not saying that is the way I am going but as others have mentioned I'd like to see what the Club are giving out with the voting procedure and what we are voting on. Although, I'm pretty sure I have a solid understanding of this whole sorry mess, I still think we all have a few things left to learn yet. Especially in consideration to the impact of a NO and a YES vote for our Club.
