Our squad has been diminishing and eroding certainly since McGhee's first season. That season JB put his hand in his own pocket (as we had just suffered the 'Malpas era') and if he hadn't we could have easily dropped down. McCormack was better than O'Brien who is better than Humphrey. When JB helped out with Hughes, Porter, etc. it actually worked. We got 3rd and with that backbone (youth, transfer fees, etc.) in place we were allowed to momentarily keep some of what we had and got to Europe three years on the bounce. Maybe this is our Malpas year again. in saying that I think we have achieved a good wee bit this year in the Cups and the potential is there in the Scottish. If we can't push on a wee bit now then things are very bleak.......as I don't see JB putting his hand in his pocket for the squad alone to that extent again.

Gotta love football players thinking getting up at the back of 7 is an early rise

Our old pal Scott Burns states on Twitter a Championship manager was at Tannadice tonight watching a Motherwell player. States this will be in Express/Star tomorrow. Hope it is Reynolds. Hope it is not Jennings. Sutton and Murphy possibly longshots.

Pretty football but with no end product/Passed the ball around well but didn't create anything of note. Sums it up for me. Big Randy didn't have his best of games but I'd still make him our MOTM. Few good saves in both halves that kept us in it. Couldn't do anything with the two goals. Never been one to get on the team/a player's back but Forbes was terrible tonight imo. I can see his positives (cracking left foot, good passer of a ball, can score a cracking goal) but he is not the best at tackling but more importantly too slow, FAR TOO SLOW, for the SPL. His lack of speed/pace/fitness for a lad his age is incredible. He is unable to run with the ball without being closed down instantly and appears to try and get rid if it asap due to this. Polar opposite to Jennings. Forbes twice put our defence under unnecesary pressure in quick succession in the second half and was hooked for Pollock. I strongly doubt whether the lad has a longterm future (for a couple of reasons) at the club. Sad, as I thought he had the makings of a right good player last summer. Humphrey was also poor. Can't really recall him doing much since the Hearts game at Tynecastle. Craigan will surely now be in his last season with us. Still have some faith in Randolph, Hammell, Hateley (at RB), Lasley, Jennings, Murphy, and Sutton (although he was invisible tonight) and most of them should be with us next season. Blackman, Gow, Fitzy, and hopefully Casagolda all gone. Money that needs to be reinvested wisely and quickly. McCall has a very tough job on his hands.

If Stenny make it at least the game should go ahead ok due to their artificial surface. Still hoping for Stranraer though.
-
No worries about our latest departure but agree with the above. Don't get me wrong if the rumours about what County offered Marc are true (low rent accomodation, same money, longer contract) not many 'bottom 6' SPL clubs could offer the same.......but there is cause for concern on who we are actually competing with and losing to. Conference teams in England mainly.
-
Take it Stenny vs Stranraer will be next midweek?
-
Very best of luck to him. Best decision for club and player imo.
-
Used as a target man in last ten minutes. As far as I can recall he never won a header from all the balls that were hoofed in his direction. Again, limited time to 'shine' but there must be a reason for this. Let him go.

Good To See The 'old School' There Today!
Finlay replied to walking down the Fir Park's topic in Club Chat
Certainly never saw any bother. Not unless they were fighting amongst themselves ootside. -
Although his performance wasn't perfect I thought Randolph had a few good saves that kept us in the match.

All this talk of banging in goals is utterly laughable. If any team wants a guy that can perform lots of wee fancies during the halftime break Casagolda is your man. Other than that Leeann Dempster could do worse than drive him down to Stockport herself and laugh herself silly coming up the road after his 'agent' hands over the readies.
-
Surely no'. Would love to know where this comes from as well as I was under the impresdion their hotel was part of their problem.
-
That would explain it certainly.....I'm just not sure where this money is coming from.
-
But they will be paying a good bit of his wages, have continually knocked back Hearts in their pursuit of Bryson, were able to get a player on loan from Chelsea (although I'm not sure what they contributed there) and have just signed a new keeper when it wasn't that long ago Bell got a new deal. Plus they still have the very able Combe as back up. Pretty sure they also had to pay JJ a proportion of his remaining contract. Plus Kyle wouldn't have been cheap either. IIRC Killie budgeted for a 7th place finish in the last few years. When did they last achieve that? All against a debt of £9m when the club has achieved nothing, NOTHING, on the field since the League Cup Final in 2007. Doesn't add up to me. Anyway, I badly digress. See ye Esteban. Not fussed in the slightest.
-
Still, that is very depressing. Can't figure out how Killie got to snaffle Eremenko when they are in serious debt. Even this year we have had a Euro run, League Cup Semi, and are already further in the Scottish Cup. We have similar attendances and have finished above them in the league for the last few years. Just how are other clubs doing it?
-
Who comprises the midfield if Fitzy isn't available. Forbes on the left? Wonder if Casagolda would be any good in that position? Wonder if Casagolda would be any good in any position?
-
Or ICT. Would make sense.
-
Fleetwood Town. Where do they play? Not surprised Fitzy is talking to another club. Still think it will benefit both parties if he moved on.
-
First I have heard of this.
-
Stenny have an artificial surface as well. Hoping Stranraer get through mainly due to ground's capacity.
-
5,600 at Stranraer. 3,776 at Stenny. 1,500 at Threave. Let the panic begin
-
I imagine it will be between Stenny and Stranraer. One second bottom of the 2nd whilst the other top of the 3rd. Nothing between them. Both are above Berwick though........and Celtic could only beat them 2-0 away. Won't be that easy, although we SHOULD progress. Capacity of both gounds? Might be beneficial to be a season ticket holder now. In saying that it could take us a couple of attempts to get this on.
