One thing that has stood out for me since his arrival (aside from his goals, assits and overall play) is his footwork and close control in and around the box. His goal at the weekend and against dunfermline are perfect examples of him using some nice footwork to gain that extra wee half yard that lets him get the shot away...what a boy!

I'm hoping for easy progression to the next round as well as seeing a few of the fringe/younger players getting game time. Id like to see page, halsman, lawless, carswell and mchugh all get a good run out. ↲All these guys did fine against clyde so a repeat scorline would be ideal.

Does anyone know when Cillian Sheridans loan from CSKA Sofia expires? With sandaza saying hes looking to move and if sheridan was only at saints for 6months they could fall back and struggle to find goals in the second half of the season..fingers crossed.

I'd bite your hand off if offered 10points right now from the next 6 games. If possible, wins against hearts, st johnstone and this weekend against utd would be the ideal 3 wins for me as i see these 3 being our main challangers for europe. Obviously id hope for a win against dunfermline aswell but i dont want to seem greedy!

No, i agree with you. He is a far better right back than he is a CM. But for the lad to join the club as a midfielder and become so assured at RB i think he (and our coaching staff) deserves a lot of praise for, in my opinion, becoming one of our biggest assets.

completely agree with Well 4 Europe in regards to Hateley. For me there aren't many better or more consistant right backs in the division. Kenny Sheilds said something to that effect before the game yesterday also.↲ Its also hard to believe the guy is only what, 22 or 23? His level of consistency is fantastic for a young player who is arguably not playing in his natural position. Definetly one of the first names on the team sheet for me!

I would like to see Page get a chance as well but agree with Al B that our back four will most likely be made up of Hateley, Craigan, Clancy and Hammell. By all accounts Page is one of the most consistent performers in the reserves and it would be good to see him get a chance, especially as this season is likely to be Craigans last.

A great opportunity to get back on track after yesterday and set ourselves up for a good wee run of games at home. I'm confident of a win against the Perth Saintees if we can get at their relitively slow back line with Murphy, Humphrey (if he plays) and Law. Our back line will need to be on there toes though because Sandaza seems to have been banging them in recently for St. Johnstone. Prediction 3-1 ... Murphy x2 and Higdon for the good guys. Sandaza for them.

just a quick question - will tickets be available up until close of business on friday? Friday is payday and after road tax and M.O.T this week i have no cash until then. Thanks.

Thanks for that mate, really good and interesting post. Seems to be the majority of the teams you have mentioned above keep that philosophy going through to the first team, Accies, Dundee Utd and Killie especially. (not so much this season to be fair to killie) Must be really disheartening for the younger lads coming up against these bigger boys and losing heavily - just hope they can see that in the longer term the way our youth system is works will make them better footballers. I guess a good example would be Reynolds vs Kenneth at Utd..both centre halves, both came through the respective youth systems, one a damn good footballer and one a big physical brute taught to heed the baw..and even a that hes not very good.

Is it not true that nowadays, when a club is scouting a lad at boys club level, the majority of the time they are concentrating more on the physical attributes of the player rather than footballing ability?? You can teach a player how to head or dribble a ball but you can't teach someone to be tall or naturally quick sorta thing. I'm sure I read a post on here a few months ago from a poster who had some knowledge of scouting at youth level who said as much, although I may be wrong.

Close call there for the offiside and another good ball in from O'Brien. Defence is looking shakey again though...my bum is leaking everytime the filth come forward.

Brown says that Spence was reccommended to him by Glen Hoddell. He isnt one of the Glen Hoddell academy players is he?? I only found out the other day that this actually existed outwith football manager -
Excellent! Well done Pa' Broon, thoroughly deserved. A special mention for Archie aswell. Amazing how much things can change in a month or so.

Glory In Scotland Awaits Pellegrinio

On the sky sports website this morning that Pellegrino is coming over for a trial with us within the next few months once the A league season comes to an end. Apparently his trial with Celtic fell through. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11781_5917187,00.html -
To be fair Bop, I havn't seen him out for quite a while now which I suppose has coincided with his progression to becoming involved in the first team and I did see him on a number of occasions during the summer out running to keep his fitness levels up, so fair play to him, he seems to be much more determined now.

I was in the year above steven meechan at school..unbelievable player! Just needs to sort out the drinking and he'll be a great player for the 'well (hopfully). Dezz

Wasn't at the game tonight but after the sending off would have taken a point, no doubt. Glad that Lasley and Craigan both had good games by the sounds of it, im sure their experience will be invaluable in the run in with our inexperienced team. As for SAturday against the dons (who had a great result tonight) Jennings in for Coke and give Humphrey a run in the team..has impressed me when he has come on, espeially against Killie a few weeks ago. If Humphrey could improve his final ball, we could be frightening with him and JOB on the wings...atleast until JOB joins hearts at the end of the season! Dezz

Cant argue with your argument nethertonwellfan (or Airfinz), i suppose im slightly blinded by the fact Las is one of my fav 'well players....or that im stupidly drunk just now and cant think of a decent response to your post! but anyway, all players whether its Lasley, JOB, Slane or bloody Kaka...they'll all chase the money. End of.

As for the Lasley/Hammell and JOB/Slane loyalty debate, for me an important fact is that both Lasley and Hammell proved their worth to the team and gave us a good length of service before trying to prove themselves for more money down south. Lasley made over 100 appearances and Hammell over 200 before moving. I suppose Jim O'brien is in the process of proving his worth to the team by having a good first half of the season but Slane doesnt really have anything to speak of in this department yet, despite looking promising in his 3 games.
