I'd say he didn't feel experienced enough at the moment. When he was appointed interim manager after Malpas left his brother told me "he'd love to manage us but doesn't have the experience" - can't see that having changed that much. That said, not convinced that the story is 100% accurate
-
Fair enough, but personally if the manager - whoever that is - has a team on the park that is winning more games than it loses then I don't care who the manager is. I think you could be right, but if that self interest means that he decides success at Motherwell is his best bet of furthering his career then I'm happy to celebrate that success.
-
While I still feel it's better for all concerned if he leaves, if he decides to stay and repeats his first season with us then I'm sure there will be more fans behind him than against him.......

Having Scott Leitch as a 'sitting tenant' in the assistant manager role may hinder our chances of getting a new manager though if part of the job offer includes an insistence that you work with Scott Leitch..... I'll be very disappointed if he goes as well, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's as straightforward as him simply keeping his current role. If he's not assistant manager do we then put someone else out of a job to honour the 'job for life' promise?
-
I'm surprised you can remember anything about that, given some of the stories I've heard about it!!
-
His name has been mentioned in the press. Former Motherwell player of course
-
The Cooper Stand occupants would need a few sets of ear plugs as well... His fan club will be organising street parties as we speak.
-
I agree. As one of McGhee's staunchest defenders I no longer want him to stay. His comments yesterday while under contract to Motherwell were extremely disappointing. I lost a lot of respect for him reading them. He has made it clear that he doesn't see his future at Fir Park, which is fair enough and I've no issue with that, but to try and keep him under these circumstances would be a mistake I think. I'd be gutted to see Leitchy leave the club again though.
-
What do we do then? Sack McGhee because other clubs have expressed an interest? He's getting on with the job of preparing the team for next season and hasn't applied for any other job. What more can he do with regards next season?
-
The papers are full of Motherwell's transfer negotiations..... criticism. The papers have no mention of Motherwell's transfer negotiations..... criticism. There is a list of targets being worked on, I'd rather read news of who these targets were once they have signed for us.

I work beside his daughter - I've emailed her and asked for as much info on his career as she can manage!

We're In Line For A Uefa Place Just Now........
ScottW1886 replied to mfcsuperwell's topic in Club Chat
Given the requests to stay off the park to preserve the Fair Play place and the fact that the team seem to have been avoiding yellows at all costs - Hammell v Inverness and Hughes v Killie immediately spring to mind, any other time they take the yellow and stop the goal - the club won't decline it. They want the place. -
Trials for players who are released by SPL clubs..... Managers will go along and have a look at the released players.
-
Aye, I can just see that on an all white away kit!!
-
Was his last game not away to Dundee United and he put out an understrength team knowing he was off to Hibs on the Monday? Just noticed a point about Lee McCulloch there - ask Lee himself about his 'Rangers allegiance' and you'll get a different story from the one he was forced to give to the h*n news
-
He did. The players' agents leaked the stories to the press. John Kennedy had a medical at Fir Park long before the interest was made public. And there were several other deals in the pipeline that didn't come to pass and didn't make the press - just the two Old Firm related ones.
-
I'm sure it'll be true - they'll have been offered deals to stay as well as deals elsewhere. I'd be surprised if Hughes went to Hearts given his comments the other week, as well as his comments when he knocked them back to sign for Motherwell.....
-
There seems to be a problem with the database though, there are 2 season ticket holders in our house yet we only ever receive one copy of the letters - and my mum and dad never get any of them.

There's No Chance Hibs Will Beat Us To The Top 6 Says M Mcgee
ScottW1886 replied to NEMO's topic in Club Chat
Think it must be true, because we would be exactly level on every count. As we have beaten Hibs, lost to them and drew with them, the head to head record doesn't separate the teams either. Don't think anyone wants an extra game though! -
I don't think the Mark McGhee fan club at the back of the Cooper realised that Clarky was injured when he went off to be fair to them. That said, most of their anger was directed at who was coming on more than the removal of Clarky and the fact that he's on loan from Celtic. We could be winning 12-0 and the abuse of McGhee would be raining down from them, and I'll stake a claim that Buzz would have signed his new contract if it wasn't for the abuse he received when we played Hibs.
-
The abuse was shocking though - way beyond an 'opinion' being spouted by a few of them. When a Motherwell player comes onto the park and the reaction is "FUCK. OFF." I don't see how that helps anyone. Although, the problem appeared to be the team he's on loan from. As for the abuse McGhee took for removing Clarkson, the fact that he an ice pack applied straight to his thigh may have been the reason he was taken off.
-
Yes they do. Unless someone can explain what we've done to deserve every window in our block of flats being repeatedly targetted and smashed by vandals, I can tell you that some people do do these things for no reason whatsoever. Anyway, his feet shouldn't touch the floor as he's booted out the club.
-
Disgusting. Sadly, his attitude seems to be very prevalent in Motherwell at the moment.
-
The comment was made to imply that based on our turnover, our league position and quality of squad was a lot better than clubs who had a similar turnover, and more importantly those with a much larger turnover. FC's right in my eyes, no issue at all with what was said.

My first 3 were Johnny Gahagan, Stevie Kirk and Dougie Arnott and had the pleasure of meeting all 3 of them last week....
