Voucher 5...
-
Yet McCall has managed Motherwell teams to a higher league finish than Butcher has in the same season with Inverness? Ergo, winning more games than Butcher the winner has. McCall seems to be getting completely crucified for things that people are completely guessing at here. Unless you are in the dressing room, you can't possibly know what he says to the players before and after games. Yet it's now just accepted as fact on here that he's making no attempt to motivate the players..... The management and players are struggling at the moment, but are far from out of touch with second place. Yet, the fans seem determined to highlight every single error that the manager and players make to worsen this perceived crisis. I'll make a suggestion without any base really here, and say that I think we are back to the point when the players will prefer away games because any error they make won't be met with a wall of disapproval from the Fir Park fans.

Did anybody hear Terry Butcher's interview before their game last night? Completely talked up Sevco and insisted they were the favourites for the game.... Given that they then went on to win, we'll have to afford him the luxury that nobody seems willing to afford to McCall - that he privately said the complete opposite to his players. For me though - and I was very disappointed with that result - the 2 games are different. Sevco had a point to prove against us, I firmly believe that they would have dispatched any SPL team that night bar Celtic, while last night they weren't as fired up for it.

Sorry, but I think it's extremely harsh to accuse the squad en mass of having no heart or fight, or indeed caring for the club. As a general point, I doubt any of the players care about the club in the same way that the fans do. That's not a criticism by the way, but it doesn't stop the players having professional pride. If there is genuine belief that they are only interested in their next contracts, then it's surely in their best interests to perform well. As mentioned, a couple of wins and we are right back in the mix - it's nowhere near the crisis levels being portrayed. Yet.
-
Misread the point - read it as the club has been in decline since he left, and is still in decline.
-
The club went into decline when Butcher left? Seriously? Bar Malpas, every manager since has managed the team in Europe, and we've pretty much finished top 6 in each season. Decline? Astounding.
-
Injured according to McCall.

Humphrey(s) and Hutch out tonight are they not? Randolph Hateley Ramsden Cummins Hammell Daley Carswell Lasley Law Ojamaa Higdon 2-1 Motherwell

Can I just clarify that I have absolutely no issue with an increased attendance due to "free" tickets or otherwise. I was merely pointing out why I don't think the club can now implement your suggestion, or rather why I think they won't. In short, I am not disagreeing with you per se!! Miff; all the best big man - as you say it puts things into perspective.
-
Pedantic maybe, but right up until the game that voucher potentially gets someone in for free as opposed to paying, so it does still have some value. I do get your point, but the issue still remains that every "free" ticket out there represents someone who won't pay in who otherwise might have, so that has to be limited.
-
Not now that tickets have been issued to season ticket holders, you potentially have people with a Match abandoned voucher and a ticket at the moment - add in the season ticket voucher and you could have two people getting "free" tickets who weren't at the intitial game, while it's only one at the moment.
-
Some fair points Haggis, but specifically on the point of selling players on; If a player - i.e Murphy - declines any potential transfer move then the club are pretty much blameless in that regard. There is no guarantee that a player would wish to return to being a "squad" player compared to being a first pick at Motherwell either, Darren Randolph as far as I am aware was not a first team player prior to arriving at Fir Park so he may see his career best developed by staying here. As you say though, the transfer process is very complex these days and I'm not sure that the club is the party with the most power these days to influence transfers they way they'd wish them to work.

6-1 win against Hearts. Make it 16-1. That, and the Odense game... if Murphy's penalty wasn't saved we'd have qualified.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure how the system in place for the rearranged game prevents the abuse of these match abandoned vouchers. A season ticket holder who has one or more of them, can still gain access to the game by getting a ticket sent out to them, or by going into the office. You do not need a match abandoned voucher for this, so you can still give them away or cash them in if that is your want. Purely from the perspective of season ticket holders being able to abuse the voucher system, there's no difference between a ticket issued by the club, or a voucher from the back of your current book. Too late for the method to be changed - for this game at least - as tickets have been issued already so folk could have 3 ways to get in if they have a MA voucher, season ticket and ticket issued by the club. Personally, I didn't hear an announcement telling folk to pick up a voucher regardless but then I don't think many people were actively listening out for such an announcement so there was a higher noise level than probably needed for the announcements to be heard by everyone.
-
2 things; If you were unable to attend the first match, and therefore are still in possession of the voucher used that day (5 I think) then you CAN enter the rearranged match using the original voucher. Or at least that is what Yir Elder was told. If the point of this is to avoid season ticket holders being able to pick up a match abandoned voucher(s) and then give them away and enter using their season ticket, then by giving every season ticket holder another ticket they have negated that!! And, we only have until Friday to arrange this?
-
Tweet from LeeAnn; Bit disappointing that we were told by several stewards not to take a voucher if you had a season ticket and that is now incorrect. Seems to now be a lot of hassle for season ticket holders who now have to get to Fir Park to get a ticket, and a lot of work for the staff in the office. Easiest option would surely have been to use one of the special vouchers at the back.

Wasn't there so can't comment on performance, but he was injured and replaced, not hooked outright.
-
While we need a Jenno type replacement, in my opinion we also need a naturally left sided midfielder/winger type and if the Belgian guy comes in and can take a man on then so much the better. I don't want to turn this into a Jamie Murphy or Chris Humphrey bashing session, but on Sunday and in recent games I don't think either of them have been decisive enough when in an attacking position. Too often they either cut inside, or go back to their own full back and the momentum is lost. I accept that they are often given balls when they have no real chance to square up their full back and can only keep possession, but there are also times when we need someone who will take the ball in these situations and commit the full back and either beat him or draw a foul.

In the current climate nobody is really going to pay a fee for a player that they know they can sign for free in a few months time though.... Clubs will know exactly who will be out of contract so they'll be wise to attempts to get them off the wage bill in the last year of a contract.
-
Firstly, how do you know discussions haven't started? Secondly, McCall stated that the fee that would be collected for a player out of contract in the summer doesn't really match the potential income of keeping the team together and finishing higher up the league. Yes, he could sell and replace, but he wasn't keen to sign any players that wouldn't improve the squad during the last window so that suggests a weakened squad if they did sell. Anyway, it isn't just as easy as deciding to sell players and good offers immediately appear - you need a club(s) to be interested and a player who wants to leave.
-
Always used to budget for 11th - not sure what the current regime do, but it was always 11th under the last accountant.
-
The chat amongst Hearts fans is an 8 month deal - not sure how that fits into the rumours of a 2 year/3 year stumbling block with Motherwell.... Anyway, I'd hope that they give McFadden another call to see if a deal can't be done!
-
Don't get all this chat about not accepting Ryan Stevenson back into the fold, unless I've missed something there has been no official word on anything, just speculation and rumours about what's happened....
-
Not the worst idea, he reportedly likes playing there as well. I'd play a keeper though!!
-
You can't rule it out, but given the way he left and judging by the reaction of the Hearts fans in here today then I'd be surprised. Even if Hearts have expressed an interest, it doesn't mean that Ryan Stevenson would be interested in going back.
