SKELMERSDALE UNITED boss Tommy Lawson predicts promotion rivals Lancaster City will feel the loss of a star striker much like his side did last season.
City sit one place above Skem in the UniBond First Division North standings but having played five games less, some would say are in an ideal position to make a run at the title this season.
However, Lawson believes with the sale of their top striker Jordan Connerton to Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell in the offing, the men from the Giant Axe could suffer like Skem did after the sale of George Donnelly to Plymouth Argyle in March.
Lawson said: "I expect Lancaster to have a blip and the player Connerton, who has been scoring all their goals this season, is going to Motherwell on loan in January with it a done and dusted deal for him to go there.
"We know who hard it is replacing someone who has been so prolific and I think it will affect them, maybe not initially, but it will."
