Mibbe the 7-1 hammering United gave them set them back a few points? Think it's because precedence is giving to the teams who finish higher up the league and cup winners. But it all looks fiendishly difficult to fathom.

Teams like Roma,Hamburg and Galatassary(who Steaua beat last year) are in at this round. Of course,we can still beat them over two legs but it will be extremely difficult. My predictions,for what is is worth is for a 3-1 defeat in Bucharest followed by wild optimism that the deficit is retreavable. In Airdire a 1-1 draw allows us to keep our heads held high while departing the competition.

Absolutely outrageous comments. I'm shocked and appalled but not surprised. I'm of a good mind to write to UEFA and request,nay demand, that Steaua are thrown out of the competition. Their chairman should have his bottom smacked and sent to bed without his supper. These remarks have brought both his club and his country into serious disrepute. I expect UEFA to act immediately to placate this easily offended 'Well fan.

I seem to recall a Mark Burchill scoring 3 in something like 10 mins against someone. Murphy needs 1 more goal to equal Steve Kirk as our record European scorer. Here's hoping it comes against Steaua.

They beat Galatasaray 3-2 on aggregate to reach the Champions League group stage. The finished bottom of a group containing Lyon,Bayern Munich and Fiorentina. One point was garnered from a draw in Florence. Their chairman,Becali is usually involved in some controversy or other. Currently,they are coached by the Italian,Bergodi,who looks to have expierence inn the club game there. I think they finished 4th last year. After the match fixing was all sorted out,smaller clubs like Cluj and Timiroasa(sp) seem to be doing well. They have a lot of players with Romanian caps so will no doubt be an excellent side.
