So we've came through the window - pretty much in the same way we went in - it's not a disaster. The most pressing issue for us is the development of the team going forward. My own personal opinion is that we need to let Hutch, Meechan, Smith, McHugh, Page, Halsman and Pollock etc get some first team SPL experience.

nah, he was looking fresh

I seen a guy when I was flickin through some stuff in the newsagents the other day. Roy something or other . . . . . . .

I think as we've not brought anyone in due to financial constraints - we should maybe look to develop a longer term strategy by replacing some of the older guys with some of the younger dudes. Let them get experience in the league so that we've got an experienced young side in a couple of years time. I reckon we'll have to sacrifice chasing results short term in at the expense of building for the future. In addition to that, I think as we've not brought anyone in due to financial constraints - we should maybe look to develop a longer term strategy by replacing some of the older guys with some of the younger dudes. I've never been as pessemistic about the future since the days of administration. chasing the short term gain with shite fitba will be our downfall.

I liked Fraser - better than thon boy that went to Norwich and it's a toss of a coin between him and the new guy - canny mind his name at the moment. Good Luck Michael another unappreciated marvel Edit: Jokin aside - decent enough interview with the fella, hope he gets sorted out (at the accies)

Oh Fuck! was I conned that easy?

It suited some of them fine and some were much improved under Gannon. There were a few that couldn't play on the carpet or with pace if there life depended on it.

Craig Levein has a pen at the ready - he's in the Scotland squad if the deal goes through allegedly
-
Folk love the fact that he throws himself into hearty tackles all over the park. While most are obviously trying to hide their trooser bulge - I manage to keep my eyes on the on field action where the opposition tend to be running away with the ball while Las is getting back up from the deck

Aye - slightly worse than 'sieg heil'

The answer was to take whatever came our way results wise for a season or two on the chin and work with young players to build that experience and quality up. We don't have the patience, inclination or understanding for any of that.

My two cents is that this post comes across as a bit like - "here's the final world, i'll have my say after ye've all talked pish" Typical Shotts man

Aye. I think that this post could have gone in any of the other threads

Where The Fuck Was Craigan When It All Kicked Off

fair points stall. it's also better when the team are clear who the taker will be. Hateley and Murph seemed to be arguing a bit about it beforehand - both of them had their hands on the ball and a wee exchange was going on. The psychology of taking the kick is bad enough (the jostling, standing on the spot, surrounding the ref, the goalie fucking off to the half way line) without that old 'if I miss this Hateley will give me pelters' niggle being put on top of that. -
*rubs eyes in disbelief* no great beef with your comment - but i just don't understand how we could say the long ball tactics worked. how can you define that as a success when we got papped out and our chances came primarily from work down the flanks

Gie Craggs a break he was doin a Paula Radcliffe -
Aye but the extra 100K could maybe fund a player for our wee clique to watch week in week out.

I think we played really well as well. An excellent team performance - but tragically flawed. As I've said many times but don't want to get into the guts of it again - Gannon's approach had a lot going for it. history has re-written itself. there's a thread on here from December time (less than a month from his departure)where the vast majority of posters were still in the Jim Gannon's Motherwell army camp. His stock hasn't risen - it's just been demonised and rubbished far more than it should have. Albeit his problems with the 'people' side of things have been well aired and us Gannon supporters need to take that on the chin. Unfortunately that's the reason why he had to go. Without mentioning specific players - one of his big bug bears was our inability to play it out from defence at pace and on the deck. For me therein lies our biggest current problem and could be the rock on which our top 6 aspirations perish this year if not addressed. we play the big punt game on sunday it will be like feeding buns to an elephant! Oh and much as I respect the 'effort' that keith lasley always gives us every time he pulls on that shirt - his 'effectiveness' and 'success' isn't quite there. We saw last night how much we missed jennings

This Humphrey thing is gettin on my thruppenies! He continually looks for the ball. he continually looks to take the opposition on - looks as if he fuckin loves it as well. Beats men, gets towards the bye line and gets it over if he can and he'll do it all day for us. It's not his job after all of that effort to locate Sutton / blackman with his tracking device and slide rule it onto their napper. It's his job, for the most part, to throw it into the box at a height and to an area that our forwards should be in. On the occasions when he can get a quick look up and see that there's nobody there he stops until there's someone to eventually catch up with him. For me he's doing all of that - it's the forward getting onto it part that's missing at the moment and that is not Humphrey's problem. As johnstone says - if we can get someone to match his run and get towards the back post - we might start slaughtering teams

The poor wee scone managed to wrestle the ball from Hateley in the first place. Yet again I'm with BB on this - a penalty with 5 mins to go at this level needs to be emphically despatched. Otherwise it's a bad pen -
Yep, gutted about last night - as BB has said we had enough chances to win through the group stages last night never mind the play off round. I thought we were unlucky vs Hibs on the opening day - and it was more of the same last night - is it really bad luck? or are we below par in the clinical finishing stakes. I'm no sure - tending towards the latter. Utaka certainly showed how to take a chance that falls your way. We're too 'honest' and 'naive' - particularly in and around the box. No-ones saying dive - but if you're being unfairly challenged . . . . . . . . (Messrs Sutton and Murphy). The long ball stuff is really beginning to get on my tits as well. Saunders, Randolph, Reynolds and Craigan all seem to have been instructed or given free reign to punt it long & high - and that's a recipe for disaster. We need to start getting on to the end of crosses as well. Having said all of that . . . . . I thought overall we were by far the better team and deserved to go through. However we've got some wee problems that stopped us from progressing and that we need to iron out before the season gets much older. C'mon the Well

Jakob - there will be cameras of some sort at the game. For all our games so far we've had highlights on news summaries the following day. The big question is if anyone is picking up that camera feed and ultimately whether the stream can be accessed. There will most certainly be cameras rolling for the 90mins - so if th p2p sites have it listed there's a good chance the feed can be picked up at kick off time or thereabouts
